Report: Kobe Bryant’s Wife Vanessa Files for Divorce


According to TMZ, it might be splittsville for Kobe and the missus. Wow: “Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ … Vanessa — who stuck by Kobe after he was charged with sexually assaulting a Colorado woman in 2003 — decided to end the marriage because she believes Kobe has been unfaithful … again. As one source puts it, ‘She’s been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she’s finally had enough,’ adding, ‘This one is the straw that broke the camel’s back.’ And our sources say … Kobe ‘desperately’ wants to win Vanessa back and will do ‘whatever it takes’ to save their 10 1/2 year marriage. According to the legal docs, Vanessa is asking for joint custody of their 2 daughters — 8-year-old Natalia and 5-year-old Giana — but Vanessa is asking that Kobe get visitation rights, which means she wants the kids in her care most of the time. We’ve learned the couple has NO PRENUP, so 29-year-old Vanessa is entitled to half of the empire Kobe built over the last decade. She’s also requesting spousal support … which is typical in divorce cases. Kobe, who filed his response to the divorce minutes after Vanessa filed her petition, says he will pay her spousal support.”

    @ yada: You sort of answered your own question. She’s the mother of his children–she’s entitled to it. I don’t see Kobe being able to raise his children much being on the road for 10 months a year. Not that it’s impossible, but…
    Where does all this animosity against mothers and wives come from? Lol, aren’t some of you idiots married?

    Remember they were young when they married. And Kobe is on a rookie wage (that’s still a lot of money).

    So she helped him build an empire (that’s right ladies and gentlemen). By taking care of the kids and house and all the other ish that a good housewife does (not to mention the 04 scandal that rocked his world). She’s entitled to that money.

    Like Eddie Murphy said in Raw, if you were married and build an empire together then yes you deserve half.

    Having said that, Vanessa is gonna scream “I’m rich bi@?ch” and Tebow when she leaves the courtroom!!!!!

    Being on the road can get lonely.. In your hotel room all alone in the after hours, you go to a restaurant, a bar maybe…. a hot chick starts up a conversation with you, one thing leads to another…… and, well, you start to think with the “other head” and she’s too much to resist.

    well….sad day. Feel terrible for those little girls…I see the Kobe haters out laughing and joking but a broken home is never anything to EVER laugh about. Don’t even realize what that can do to a young psyche…and none of us know the details of this situation so passing judgement and trying to stand on our little moral high horses doesn’t make any sense……Anyways hold your head Kobe, raise the kids like you’ve been doing, stay strong for the family.

    pro athletes should not get married before 35. You can have kids and all that, live together but if you’re gonna commit for the long haul do it after you’re athletic career is over or almost at an end. And half? Come on man 10thousand a month should be more than sufficient. If he buys the house, she gets some cars. Especialy if she goes on basketball wives which she will.

    LOL Vanessa, get your money!! You earned it. You can never go wrong being faithful. Even if Kobe was a nice guy, (which he’s not), who just got caught up I wouldn’t feel sorry for him. And all the lil boys on here saying she doesn’t deserve the money, it’s obvious you know nothing about marriage. The depth of that connection is beyond your comprehension.     We don’t really know anything about the situation. People are quick to assume the mother takes care of her children when that is not always the case. I guess till death do us part means nothing.

People who say she’s entitled to $100,000,000 disgust me! Can anyone with a straight face say Kobe wouldn’t be where he is today without her? She probably never changed a diaper in her life!     Sometimes I don’t understand the law… Vanessa is going to get 150 million AND alimony? The law is out of touch with some realities, IMHO. And I come from a broken home, but cmon, Vanessa does not need help after getting half.

    @Mike from Spain – the spousal support she will be getting is starting now, once they have separated and before they have entered into a real separation agreement or obtained a court order for divorce. Once a divorce is final and she has gotten some sort of equalization share of the family’s assets she will not be getting alimony.

    People who equate being married to a rich person–especially a rich person with few morals–to “living off their dime” disgust me. I wonder how many people who take this position are actually married. If they’ve never been married then I chalk it up to ignorance. You simply don’t know anything about marriage. If one has been married, your opinion on the subject may serve as a glimpse at why your marriage will likely fail if it hasn’t already lol. Just being honest here.

    @ Mike Wyatt: We may not know details, but Vanessa Bryant’s lack of parenting sure wasn’t a reason either of them cited in their court papers. Kobe isn’t seeking full custody either. No need to try to discredit the woman’s parenting. Also, a cheater may very well bring death to their spouse. Cookie Johnson got lucky. I don’t encourage anyone to stay with a cheating spouse in this day and age.
