‘Serious Talks’ for 3-Team Trade that Could Send Howard to Nets


The Nets are back at work in their never-ending chase on Dwight Howard, this time in talks for a three-way trade with the Magic and Trail Blazers that would send Howard to Jersey and Gerald Wallace and Brook Lopez to the Magic. ESPN.com has the report: “The New Jersey Nets have entered into serious talks with the Orlando Magic on a multiteam trade scenario that would that bring Dwight Howard to the Nets, according to sources close to the process. Sources told ESPN.com that the most active proposal discussed by the teams would sendPortland Trail Blazers swingman Gerald Wallace to the Magic along with Nets center Brook Lopez as two of the main pieces Orlando would receive in exchange for Howard. As part of such a trade, which could be expanded to include a fourth team, sources say Orlando would also shed the long-term contracts of Hedo Turkoglu and Chris Duhon—both absorbed by New Jersey—while also potentially receiving future draft considerations. Other players would have to be added to the deal to make the salary-cap math work, but sources said Portland would receive multiple first-round picks as part of the exchange for surrendering Wallace and facilitating the trade.”

    Dwight Howard is most effective offensively in P&R situations. I think it’s obvious he would be a better two-way player with Williams than he would with Bryant.

    All you hating on Brooks your all right, Orlando should just settle with Howard leaving for nothing at the end of the season. Id rather see Dwight in “Brooklyn” over LA, the Lakers are on a big decline… And looking up at the the knicks, really? Two selfish stars that don’t play defense and a defensive center that is limited on offensive! Plus they don’t have a real floor general, and if the get Paul it’ll just be lobs to Amare and Tyson… Melo’s strengths are with the ball in hand, He’ll be disgruntled quick!

    Taylor. I’m not saying KB, D-how is better than D-How, _____ (fill in blank with a player of choice) I was just saying homer stuff. I would love to see D-How and KB together as a Laker fan. D-Will and D-How makes more sense to me though. Lethal passing point with a high flying center vs a lethal shooting guard and a high flying center… I’ll take the PG, C combo. But as a homer, D-How to LA baby! I need it. Odom was my second favorite Laker… I’m a little depressed right now.

    @nbk: Bottom line, enjoy it now while you can, before the new season is here and the REALITY is setting in your head that you in fact were WRONG about the 2011-12 New York Knicks. Yes, the Knicks still have a lot of work to do preparing for this season, but they’ll be a much better TEAM, and come real season they’ll be one of the top seeds in the East primed for a deep playoff run. It will be fun to see how you go about trying to save face in front of your “slamily” during this coming season. I really can’t wait. LMFAO!

How many games did they even have together with everyone healthy after that trade deadline deal for Carmelo and Billups? That seed they had wasn’t even representative of the team they would have been if they had a training camp and a full 82 games together without the constant trade speculation surrounding their team. Can’t wait for a fresh start and full season with our NEW BIG 3 sans the chemistry killing trade speculation like last year.

    Boston has nothing to prove Einstein, how healthy new York was last season is irrelevant, they got swept.. Boston healthy > the Knicks. There is no way anyone should reasonably think the Knicks are better with the rosters how they are.

    Just stop nbk… The Knicks never get swept if they don’t lose Amar’e and Billups to injury so early in that series. That series likely goes 7 games if the Knicks don’t lose Billup and Stoudemire. I’m not saying they get past the C’s, but they definitely had a punchers chance if they had a healthy core. BOTTOM LINE, nbk, A HEALTHY 2011-12 KNICKS are contenders out East. Still a lot of work left for the Knicks to make that happen, but I LOVE their chances this season much much better than last season. Hopefully they can add a few more pieces before the season starts… :)

    The Nets seriously need a new name and logo design. The New Jersey Nets? Really? That’s like having a hockey team called The New Jersey Goals, or a football team called The New Jersey Fields. They need to step up their creativity. For baseball they had the Brooklyn Dodgers–how cool is that? The Brooklyn Nets? Really??
    And their logo is so lame–their jerseys look good in red, but the grey is not doing it for me. They need to revamp. I thought Jay-Z and Prokhorov were supposed to be hip.

    Of course, I’m only saying this because if Dwight Howard goes to the Nets, I almost have to hop on that bandwagon. The Knicks are looking good, but Deron Williams (possibly my favorite point guard) and Dwight Howard (the last real center in the NBA) is ridiculously cool.
    Too bad I never lived in Brooklyn… but whatever. It’s still New York, lol.
