Chris Bosh: Dwyane Wade is the Miami Heat’s Best Closer

by Marcel Mutoni @marcel_mutoni

Chris Bosh, more than anything else, is known for his inability to be anything but candid with his words and emotions. Prior to taking his talents to South Beach, this trait made him mildly popular with fans and media, as they grew to appreciate this refreshing break from the usual athlete-speak clichés.

These days, however, Bosh’s honesty only seems to create headlines.

During an otherwise harmless Q&A with GQ magazine, Chris Bosh says that he prefers teammate Dwyane Wade taking the Heat’s last-second shots instead of LeBron James (and, um, himself.)

Controversy! OK, not really … :

GQ: … Let’s say the game was tied. 10 seconds left. You had 30 points, LeBron’s got 30, and Wade’s got 30. You got the same amount of rebounds, same amount of assists—having the same great game. Who takes the shot at the end to either win or lose the game. Chris Bosh: “[immediately] Dwyane.”

GQ: Why? Chris Bosh: “Because of his success in the past, given what he’s done. He’s a champ. He’s an MVP, and he’s hit a bunch of last-second shots. That’s the time you have to put pride aside a little bit, and do what’s best for the team. He’s quickest, and he’s gonna get a shot off. He relishes those moments.”

Once the media starts asking the Miami trio about these quotes, things might get a tad awkward in the Heat locker room, but this is not a big deal at all. Besides, Bosh is correct in his assessment.

Chris Bosh also claims that Dwyane Wade has better fashion sense than LeBron James, which will probably hurt LBJ’s pride much more than the clutch stuff.

@Gametime: Lebron is good enough to go 1 on 1 and make the best play. Do you think Spoelstra is consistently drawing up plays that Lebron screws by taking it 1 on 1? That IS the play. If Riley didn’t like it, he’d go to both Spoelstra and Lebron and say “don’t do that”, and it wouldn’t happen. Isolate Lebron. Drive, draw the double, make the pass. If the double doesn’t come, take it to the hole, get the shot, draw the foul. Or, if the circumstance calls for it, get DWade the isolation at the top of the key, which also happens. Match ups, who’s hot, defensive particulars..it all contributes. DWade is a killer. And him having won a title probably speaks to the decision Bosh made. Wade has done it. So yeah, it makes sense. But his response isn’t a repudiation a Lebron. That’s foolish to think so.

I just don’t think the Heat are running any plays at all down the stretch. And I don’t believe letting LeBron continually to go one on one is the best play when you have Wade and Bosh. This isn’t Cleveland… run a play. And if Spoelstra, who I think is a GREAT coach, doesn’t stop letting the players ‘freestyle’ so much late in games, it’s going to eventually cost him his job.

As far as the comment on bosh, He is not helping the team to better ends, rather he is making issues to talk about. They should help each other for the team, Each player have their own weaknesses,, trio is there in miami to help the team for a championship not on the other way. If bosh and wade only can win a championship in miami without James.. you will never win a ring as long as you are together….

Wade is good player, quickness, move is there but in times of trouble, he is trying to take more shots by himself,,, the pride of wade is there. But If you’ll find a time to ask wade, do you want to work with James? He’ll absolutety say YES

Bosh is a very smart guy but he has very low emotional intelligence, i.e. he doesn’t know how to sense potentially damaging situations. This will not affect the relationship between Bron and Wade because they really are like brothers. However, I can’t imagine that Bron is loving Bosh right now, regardless of what he says. This is just unnecessary.

Some idiot up top said Wade has been tha best player since 06. Smmfh, go jump off a cliff

  • feez_22

Let me just dead this statement right here… wade is 4-38 in hitting game tying or game winning shots in the 4th quarter the last 4 yrs. That is the worst mark of ANY PLAYER in that span. closer my ass.

chris bosh is like an ostrich!

LOL, looks like Lebron has gone through all three stages of collapses:
1- Shying away from taking any shot and looking scared
2- Taking every god damn shot and missing them
3- Hitting every shot in the fourth but your team still getting creamed
    Let’s go Heat!

    MIAMI HEAT 2012 CHAMPIONS.

THEY ARE JUST TOYING WITH ALL THE TEAMS.

    THEY WILL BE READY.

  • Cheema

wade is way better than Kobe, and has been 4 about 5 years now. But Bosh is wrong to say that even if he beleives it. Plus this is the same dude that cant create a shot off in an iso situation. all his buckets are from the passes from Lebron and wade he receives when they are doubled and he is open for the shot, or drives to the lane for phantom calls.

  • Niyagirlfresh

Lmao @ someone saying Wade has been the best player since 06. Lord where have some people been at over the past decade **smh** Lol!

  • Justin G.

Wade is way better than Kobe huh? lol I’ve never done drugs but I bet I could get a really good price for whatever Cheema’s smoking. And all of Bosh’s baskets are set ups from Lebron and Wade. He doesn’t take anybody off the dribble or hit face up jumpers. Good Lord

  • Zack

How much of a dumbass is Bosh to even answer this question. Why say something that would create tension, they are struggling right now anyway.

Sucks that DWade wrecked his ankle last night Bosh really gotta step up now… LeBron is probably gonna catch a few triple doubles. Be nice to see him hit a game winner or 2 to silence the critics.

  • janice

I think that bosh is jealous of james in so many ways…he jealous of james and wade frienship…and all the press that james gets…because wade does not get much press..he needs to talk about why he use to run across the floor like a girl…thats what i need to know…

  • awesome 1

Well D-Wade is my son and I think the coaching needs to be better!!! I think the decision making is horrible…. if the heat had better plays, all three could have very successful forth quarters and a very high percentage closing clutch shots!!!! I have seen all three on other respective teams have great moments…. even Bosh!!!! They will soon get it together!!!! Go Wade and Miami!!!
