Jason Kidd to Miss 5 Games Due to Strained Calf

The Dallas Mavericks will put Jason Kidd on the chillin’ list for about a week, hoping he can recover from a strained right calf. Per the Star-Telegram: “The injury occurred Friday night against the Utah Jazz. Kidd sat out Sunday’s game against San Antonio and will also miss tonight’s 8 p.m. contest at Phoenix, home games against Oklahoma City and Indiana, and a road contest against Cleveland before returning for a Feb. 8 game at Denver. ‘I feel good,’ Kidd said during halftime of the Mavs’ 101-100 overtime victory over the Spurs. ‘We’ll rehab the calf and then we’ll see where we stand in a week.’ Kidd said it felt like he was kicked in the calf. But when the Mavs looked at the tape and saw that no one was around Kidd when his injury occurred, there were some anxious moments. ‘They were a little nervous that I had torn an Achilles or something, because that, I guess, is the common theme when you say that you got kicked in the back of the calf,’ Kidd said. ‘So I was just happy that it was just a strain.’ Kidd, who turns 39 in March, missed four games earlier this season with a lower back injury.”
