JR Smith’s Sister Got Into Another Fight With Fans in China


JR Smith continues to put up huge numbers in China, but his sister (and girlfriend) aren’t getting along with the other folks in the stands. From Deadspin: “The last time we checked in with J.R. Smith, he was breaking ankles while his sister Stephanie was starting brawls. I can’t speak for the state of Sino-American talocrural relations, but I can report that Smith’s sister and girlfriend are once again implicated in a fight that broke out [Saturday night] during a game between J.R.’s Zhejiang squad and the host Tianjin. According to Chinese news sources, conflict erupted after Tianjin fans heckled J.R. Smith as he went to the line late in the third quarter. After what I believe to be Thunderstix were thrown onto the court by a spectator, Smith’s girlfriend got into a shoving match with Tianjin fans while his sister flipped the crowd the double-bird. Stephanie Smith claims on her Twitter that she didn’t start the fight ‘this time,’ and we can understand her description of the incident being different from Chinese sources that describe her as ‘a ton of bricks.’”

    White Steve is an idiot I see. Did you see the Georgetown game footage or even read the reports. That team that Georgetown played had been in two other fights because they were sore losers. Man sit your simple ass somewhere.

    This is what happens when, people with NC,not North Caroline but, no class. I lived in Asia for two years, attended all sort of sporting events never had a problem. Lived in Germany, three years concerts, sporting events no problem. When you travel you must know how to conduct oneself. You don’t have to fight every battle and lose the war. Caught in a second indecent of the same nature, you must look and his sister and girlfriend. They must conduct themselves better any where they go. Just sad, and sorry behavior.

    I live in China, have since 1990. Don’t know what happened, but I would not be surprised if the fans were making racist comments. Maybe they were saying JR was a monkey or subhuman or calling him a black MF. The Chinese, like most Asians (Japanese, Koreans, Thai), are extremely racist and prejudicial to any one with dark skin.
