Kobe Bryant Says Right Wrist is Healing

Kobe Bryant’s back-to-back 40+ points games have pushed him into the scoring lead in the NBA, and the bad news for the rest of the League is that his injured wrist is actually improving (largely thanks to round-the-clock treatment.) Not that Bryant necessarily cares either way. Per the OC Register: “Even as he revealed his seemingly good news about the wrist improving despite all this abuse he has put it through to stand as the NBA’s 33-year-old scoring leader, Bryant practically scoffed late Wednesday night at the actual importance of him being 100 percent again. ‘I scored back-to-back 40′s with a (bleeped)-up wrist,’ Bryant said, his eyes still gleaming at the just-completed achievement. ‘What does it matter if it’s still (bleeped)-up in the playoffs?’ No one had scored 40 points all season until Bryant put up 48 on Phoenix and then 40 in Utah. It had taken nearly twice as long as the shortest previous time at the start of an NBA season for any player to get 40, yet here was Bryant carpal-tunneling his way to double trouble on consecutive nights. The feat felt so sweet, especially with the Lakers having won four consecutive games to leave 4-4 far behind, that Bryant wasn’t all that excited about the wrist healing. But it is. ‘It’s getting better now,’ he said. ‘It’s already getting better. I’ve played so many games; I’ve gotten hit on it so many times. And it’s still improving. So I’ll be fine.’ Will it be healed in weeks or …? ‘Does it matter? The time schedule? It’ll get better eventually. I don’t know when.’ By the playoffs … ‘By the playoffs, it should be fine.’”

Wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up averaging 35+ a night again. 46% from the field with a bum wrist is pretty impressive.

  • Dirk Nowitzki’s Mane

Even if he is chucking up 30 shots LOL.

  • Dungeon Family

if you have to LOL your own jokes…….they ain’t funny

and in order to score alot wouldn’t you have to shoot alot?

  • bike

Kobe is a conceited d@ckhead and a self-serving prima donna.

Why so cranky and racist today? LOL

Kobe has been incredible until he regresses back to his inefficient self. If he’s shooting 25 plus shots at 45% or lower like normal, there would be nothing too brag about.

the wrist must have played a role in him missing yet another GW.

  • SI44

He might have missed another GW shot but at least he has the balls to take that shot and not care about media perception, unlike alot of these other so called superstars

@ Dungeon: What is your argument LOL?

  • Cheema

any1 can score 30 points if they are shooting 30 times. Kobe forces alot of shots, it`s like he always has to get his. thats the reason why he has been such an ineffecient scorer throughout his career despite having some of the most dominent post players in the game.

  • Conor O.

He obviously air-balled that final shot so that he may be provided an additional opportunity to score forty.

  • golakeshow

What the hell guys. Kobes the greatest of all time. This year he gets MVP, scoring title, Finals MVP, and a title against the knicks. Lakers acquire dwight at the deadine as well. What now.

Once again Kobe is there talking up these ticky-tack injuries… Blepped this, blepped that… Either you are injured and then you sit or you are good to go and you shut up an play. If there is one thing Kobe is the master of, it is selling the story that he is the hardest worker and plays hurt to the media. Kobe is a smart guy, he knows these words will be attached to his legacy forever thus he makes a huge deal out of feeding the media about these topics all the time. It is so calculated and tiresome to look at/listen to. Really his legacy doesn’t need this… It has been going on for years; Kobe making sure his ‘injuries’ being talked up and the media eating it up. Great player, but he is such a phony.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Max

Kobe is trying to be the best injured player ever..

  • kobe4ever8

As a big kobe fan (obviously with the name), I think he just like the attention. I admire his skills and drive and all, but watch him get 2 bad games, and reports are gonna come out that his wrist is reinjured during practice or the game before. Its all hollywood. As long as Lakers are winning tho, I could care less about these stuff

  • http://juan.garcia@computershare.com Marcelus Wallace

Carefull there kobe4ever8… I might just revoke your LA privelages..

  • Justin G.

Just out of curiosity Lz, but how does he “make sure his injuries are being talked up”? You realize he gets asked about it every night right? Noooo, I forgot. The people who post on here always think players just say things for the sake of saying them while media just sit there and write everything down. Kobe called a press conference, said my wrist is getting better and all of those other things quoted above without being asked a single question. That’s right, that’s how it works

Justin G just shut this thread down. If only kids understood.
