Luol Deng Out ‘a While’ With Torn Wrist Ligament

The Chicago Bulls aren’t being very forthcoming with the details regarding how long Luol Deng will be out. All we know is that his left wrist has a torn ligament. Per CSN Chicago (and SLAM’s) Aggrey Sam: “[Luol Deng] and Taj [Gibson] out today. Lu has torn ligament in his left wrist. Won’t have surgery. Week-to-week. ‘Out for a while,’ according to [head coach Tom Thibodeau.] Deng said that the pain in his wrist has decreased but his return will depend on how much he can manage it. He is officially week-to-week. The forward is averaging 15.9 points per game this season.”

This is a huge blow. The bulls already lost their second best player (d rose) to turf toe and now their leader and best player Deng goes down. If Deng can come back healthy he will take LeBrons spot as best small foward in the league

out for a while? week to week? Kobe’s playing through it. Softy!

@robb -Guys like Kobe, Rose (who also plays through many injuries), and AI before them aren’t human.
Their pain tolerance is much higher than Deng, me or you could ever imagine.
Props to those guys, but not everyone is gonna be able to play through that kind of pain.

  • robb

@Enigmatic yeah I know, I wouldn’t be able to play either.

played with a fractured toe for a week or two, very painful.

The injuries are piling up all around the league.

Teams shooting 29% on certain nights, a string of nasty injuries, decent FA’s unable to get signed…Yup post-lockout basketball. P.s. Luol its only cos I got huge respect that I ain’t bringing up the mambas wrist injury, they don’t have numbing injections in the windy city?

Stop comparing Luol to Kobe. Luol means twice as much to the bulls as kobe means to the lakers. Kobe has more rings at the moment but thats on temporary. Luol just needs to heal so he can be healthy for the playoffs and the Bulls will begin their third three-peat

As long as he makes a full recovery and comes back for the playoffs healthy its all good.

Not good for the bulls. I think they can go without one but nit two of their best players. Plus I just read that the bulls think roses injury is gonna last throughout the season. Time to see just how deep this team is.
