Michael Jordan’s HS Coach Arrested at Home Where Dead Body Was Found

Michael Jordan’s high school coach Clifton Herring had already been in the news this week, gaining loads of attention when Sports Illustrated featured him in a story with the headline “Did This Man Really Cut Michael Jordan?” in the new issue. Now, just days after that piece came out, WECT is reporting that Herring was arrested with two others at a home where a dead body was found in Wilmington, NC. Herring was charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing that arrest: “Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department found a body while searching a home in Wilmington Friday for evidence relating to a missing person’s case, and WECT has learned that one of three men arrested at the home the night before used to be Michael Jordan’s basketball coach while he attended Laney High School. Reports say police arrested Clifton Herring in the 1100 block of Cowan Street on Thursday night. One of the men was arrested at the home for an outstanding warrant, and Herring was charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing that arrest. The address where police found the woman’s body buried Friday is also the same address that Herring listed as his home address when arrested. Herring was recently featured in Sports Illustrated Magazine, discussing his connection with Michael Jordan. Wilmington police have not identified the woman who they found dead in the backyard, but they say they have reason to believe it could be the body of a 24-year-old who was reported missing earlier this week.”
