Tyson Chandler: ‘I Refuse to Have a Losing Season’

The New York Knicks’ latest horrific loss took place on Saturday night in Houston, and following the team’s third-straight defeat, Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler were highly critical of their own squad. From the NY Post: “Amar’e Stoudemire sounded graver than ever, and ripped some players for not preparing for games and not learning from mistakes, seemingly trying to protect D’Antoni for this wreckage. Stoudemire also agreed this 1-9 stretch is probably the low point of his Knicks stint. ‘We got to start reading the board before games,’ Stoudemire, who had 23 points, said. ‘We have to prepare ourselves better as individuals. Coaches give the game plan. We have to be ready to execute the game plan. If we’re not ready to execute the game plan, we’re not helping our teammates. We have to learn to comprehend and learn from our mistakes and right now we’re not doing that,’ Stoudemire added. ‘The only thing that could put a smile on my face is my kids and they’re not in New York. It’s not a great feeling right now.’ The Houston game had long been targeted for Baron Davis’ Knicks debut, but Davis hasn’t had any pop in scrimmages. Davis’ return Tuesday against Detroit at the Garden is questionable. Tyson Chandler also sounded the alarm in the locker room afterward, indicating the club is falling back on excuses. The Knicks fell behind Houston (12-8) by 21 points even without its star Kevin Martin. ‘I refuse to have a losing season,’ Chandler said. ‘We have to do what it takes. I refuse to go through a losing season. We got to man up.’ The Knicks are 1-5 on the second night of back-to-backs and now are tied with the Nets for 10th place. ‘I’m not going to build any excuses,’ Chandler said. ‘Everybody has this schedule. Everybody’s going through four games in five nights and back to backs. Everybody’s banged up. It’s times like this you have to dig deep. It’s about the team that wants it more.’”

    Knicks suck right now.

Stat is the biggest problem right now, I’m so tired of his talk of games he should have dominated. I keep my eye on him and that dude is straight up lost. He doesn’t crash boards he’s constantly losing his man and the ball, not seeing what’s going on. Those two tired ass moves of his 1. drive baseline, jump behind the backboard and turn the rock over. 2. receive a pass and without thought (or defender) pumpfake and drive “into” the defense. That’s your star and that’s why you will probably have a losing season. Tyson is all heart on the court, melo is hurt, and everybody else seems to have no clue.- NY KNICKS- home of the” live by it or die by it “3pt shot, GREAT COACHING. GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS

My how the so-called mighty have fallen. From playoff contenders to bottom rung feeders. Karma…

Well, at least they have a high draft pick this y— oh they gave that away? Well…

If this isn’t the epitome of ” Don’t leave a team jsut to play with your friends and have abig three hype blahblah blah”…then I don’t know what is. Man I couldn’t be happier. Just proves a poitn that teams can be made through trades FA and all the great stuff..but team chemistry is a must.

Oh yeah, and someone fly Stat’s kids out pronto.

Time for Danfoni (misspelled on purp) to get canned need a coach who’s gonna hold guys accountable. Bring in someone who can show stat and Melo how to D up and stop commitng so many turn overs and offensive fouls. I haven’t given up on this group yet, just like Tyson said got to have the want and will to man up!!!!!!!

I also refuse to expand my offensive game.

  • LP

You can’t expect Stat to expand his offensive game. He has been playing with a decent point guard his whole career and now the Knicks don’t have one. They NEED A PG. It plain and simple. a FLOOR GENERAL. CHAUNCEY BILLUPS.

And pinning your hopes on someone like Baron Davis to bail you out is kinda like hoping Jesus will suddenly appear to bail you out of jail for a DUI charge.

  • DerekG

@nbk…I don’t think I want him to expand his offensive game. I’m quite content with him catching lobs and getting put-backs cause he may improve and suddenly think we need to run plays for him like he’s Hakeem Olajuwon 2nd.

Except they do run plays for him. Ore for him then Amar’e infact.

This team is doomed. Trading Dwight for Stat & Chandler isn’t the answer either. They all better start carrying a lucky rabbit feet into the locker room. :)
