  I can’t believe that Deron Williams was selected. I don’t think you should make it on talent and past achievements alone. You would hope that one would also be playing inspiring ball right now. I would much rather have seen Brandon Jennings or Kyrie Irving in that spot. I guess Williams himself has been snubbed in the past, so things have evens out for him. It’s also hard to believe that with the current talent boom that we are in the midst of, that Roy Hibbert can make an All-Star team. I can’t stand watching the Pacers play, but I am pretty sure that Carlos Boozer, KG (defense), Tyson Chandler (defense), or even an Andre Bargani,in that spot

  ^Bosh could’ve been selected as a center, and one of the guards as a wild card pick. Rondo is averaging 13 and 10 as the best player on the Celtics. Come on. Happy for P-Squared and Iguodala though.

  Deng has been injured for a large part of the season, that was a surprise. Also, realistically, Dirk did not deserve his spot this year. I understand, respect for the reigning Finals MVP, blah blah blah, but his production has fallen off hard this season.

He’s leading the league in assists, having a borderline 50/40/90 season and if the suns were in the east they would be the 8th seed. (1-12 in the west would be in the playoffs in the east) Oh and the third scoring option on the team is jarred Dudley.

  Great for PP34. He deserves it. Rondo should of been in ahead of deron and Jennings deserved a spot. Before he got injured deng was playing great so I’m not to angst about him win picked. Marc gasol is understated I think he deserves a spot. Kg should of been in as well for Roy hibbert. Dirk doesn’t deserve to be there and can’t believe they have three point guards on te wests team. Yeah def a weird line up. Unsure about joe Johnson. I would rather have josh smith. Only way monta Ellis is gettin to te all star team is I he is playing for a team in the east. Don’t know why he always gets snubbed like I know golden states records army that great but jeez hes playing pretty good.

  You are KIDDING yourself if you think J.Smith is more deserving of an ALL star vote than Luol Deng. I am very glad Deng got in. However I think J. Smith has been outplaying He Of The Undeserving Contract aka Mr Joe Johnson. However D. Will is a different story, sending the wrong message if someone with a losing record, (of that magnitude) gets in. He is an awesome player but it just seems that a lot of these types of allstar votes are given on the basis of individual performance instead of over-all team performance. Its a shame that the season has been so brutal because a number of people who have been playing really well haven’t been selected because of injury, i.e, Gallinari etc. Its a kinda of f*cked up lineup really.

  Whoever made the point about NBA coaches being losers. I wonder when the actual voting for the All-Star reserves actually happens. Did it happen just over the last few days. If not what happens with coaches (a la Saunders) who have been fired midway through the season, yet were able to still lodge a vote. Just to clarify, I think Deron is the best player of the aforementioned 3, and one of my favorite players in the league. However I do not think that someone who is biding their time to potentially leave as a free agent and playing pretty uninspiring ball, should get in over two hungrier players that have played all out. When I think of this season I won’t remember it as one of Deron’s finer seasons, however I will remember it as the season that Brandon stepped it up a notch and that Kyrie had a historically impressive Rookie season

  As big of a fan as I am, kinda shocked Nash made it. I think he made it on the “damn, this guy is 38-years-old?” factor and not the “he is helping his team and really deserving it factor.”
  Josh Smith god robbed hardcore. I feel for that dude. He maybe deserved it over JJ. Josh is doing 15.6/8.9/3.2 with 1.5 and 2.0 on 47%. Joe Johnson is dropping 18.6/4.0/3.7/0.8/0.3 on 43%. Yeah, gimme J Smooth.
  Dirk definitely robbed someone of a deserving spot. Lowry, looking at you.
  Marc Gasol deserves it as much as Rudy Gay. It was a judgement call and I guess the west needed a center. Weird that the hairier Gasol brother made it though.
  Kinda with Gallinari got an all-star nod. So what if he’s injured, vote him in to honor him and then pick someone else.

  its an ALL STAR GAME……. not a SUPERSTAR GAME…… Is Brandon Jennings an all star. NO! Is Josh smith an allstar No! All stars who did not make it did not play uo to par, its that simple. If it was about winning ,Tim Duncan would be in case closed ppl I do agree that dirk shouldnt have been in but honestly, theres no other pf in the west to replace him. Ppl like seeing one foot fade aways is the way the coaches look at it. Plus the allstar game has been whack for at least a decade. The last competitive one was the game with mj in int.. Not sure about that one, glad to see Igudala on there so Philly can say someone else beside Allen Iverson make team, Roy Hibbert is OK, D-Will is their only source of offense. Snubs: Brandon Jennings he’ll be in this game next year, David West improved Indiana this year, Josh Smith is very underrated now. Put him in. West: Dirk shouldn’t be there, Aldrige made it FINALLY!!! Snubs: Rudy Gay has had a nice recovery from his injury last year, Gallinari will be an all-star if Denver continues winning and Kyle Lowery should get some love too. Looking forward to the All Star game.

  Nash deserves his spot for sure. Pierce, DWill, and especially Nowtizki do not. Much respect for Nowitzki but he even said in an interview (posted here on SLAM I believe) that he did not deserve to be there. I’m sure he’d rather not play and take the extra rest but maybe he’ll play a few minutes and sit the rest. I’d rather he gave up the spot to someone a little more deserving but that doesn’t happen. Jennings was definitely robbed too

  Don’t like this… Rondo and Smith are the obvious snubs and though Hibbert is having a decent season for a decent team, there’s not way he’s an all-star, there can be made an argument that he’s not even the second best player on the Pacers, at least not better than Rondo or Smith.. I don’t have that many problems with the west squad. Glad to see Nash and Parker on there… Don’t think Nowitzki should have made it, although I can kind of see why. I previously said I’d take Ellis… somehow I completely forgot about Lowry. The All-Snub Team:
  G-Rondo/Ellis/Irving
  G-Jennings/Lowry
  F-Smith/Gay/Granger
  F-P.Gasol/Stoudemire
  C-Duncan/Jefferson OK, not all of these are All-Star worthy, but they’re the next 12, and serious cases could be made for Rondo and Smith (who should be in), Jennings, Ellis, Irving, Lowry, P.Gasol (It’s not like he’s been bad, still putt’n up 17-10 with 3 ast and good percentages – all as the 3rd option), Duncan and Gay… Granger, Stoudemire and Jefferson would be strethces, but that could certainly be said about Hibbert as well.

  For those hating on Deng – he’s the second best player on the best team in the NBA right now. His numbers rack up with Smith and any/all other potential candidates at 16/7 and he’s one of the top SF defender in the league right now. He sat out some games with the wrist, but so have so many others. He’s deserving, no doubt. DWill? Not sure about that one. His team is just too terrible. If he makes it on his numbers, K Love should have made it last year. Numbers on a pi$$-poor team don’t mean anything.

  To me the biggest snub is Brandon Jennings. He deserves it with the way he’s been leading his team and putting up nice numbers. Milwaukee is in the playoff race too. I would have taken him over Dwill and Jsmith over PP.
  On the west squad, i’m sorry but 15 good games makes you a more worthy all star than the last finals MVP Dirk aka Al Jefferson, Paul Milsap. I’m ok with the west squad, maybe Kyle Lowry would have been a better choice than Nash but it’s not that obvious to me.L

  I know Nash, Westbrook etc are better players right now than Rubio, but purely for entertainment purposes it would of been good if Rubio made the roster. Some of his passes during games are sick, so I think with his style of play he could thrive in a game like the all star game. Maybe in a few years, if he keeps going in the right direction, he will be in there throwing some sweet dimes.

  Definitely can’t understand how Pau/Lowry didn’t make the team instead of Dirk/Marc. Definitely not. Can’t warp my head around how Deng/Hibbert made the team instead of JSmooth/Rondo.   MGasol doesn’t deserve his spot? SERIOUSLY!? Name another Center in the West that has played better than MGasol then we’ll talk. Hibbert made the team because they need a Center. If Horford was playing or Bogut, they would have made it instead of Hibbert. As far as I remember, JSmith is no Center. And I do agree that Rondo should have been picked instead of DWill.. JSmooth over J. Johnson. PMillsap or AJefferson over Dirk.

  deron williams is averaging 20 points a game as well as 8 assists with a player efficiency rating of 20 he deserves to be in this game now dirk is a different story, al jefferson or paul milsap should have made it instead of dirk, roy hibbert had to make it because they needed another big man so they went with hibbert i think because the pacers have a better record than the raptors, and the cavs.

  At least Lamarcus got in..about damn time. I like the west squad, save Dirk. And I don’t like Paul Pierce on the East squad. Iguodala, Deng, Hibbert all deserve it. Their teams are beasting so far and they have been keys to that success. I’d rather have JSmoove over pierce

  Feel bad for Brandon Jennings. He’s playing all star worthy ball but there is a ton of good guards in the east. No Rondo surprised me. He missed 8 games but so what! Dirk definitely surprised me and Tony Parker made it because of the numbers he put up last week!

  @Enigmatic: I totally agree. That’s what I’ve been saying all along. And Charlie, there is a loophole for the coaches in that they can name a forward who plays center on a regular basis as the backup C, thus talking about replacing Hibbert with a guard or a forward and naming Bosh the backup center makes sense. It should be the 12 best players regardless of position and Hibbert is not one of the 12 best players in the Eastern conference, does anyone really think Hibbert is better than Rondo and Smith? I have no problem with DWill making it, or any other superb player on a bad team as Allenp says. The West squad is fine except for Dirk over Gay, Pau or Lowry.

  I can’t believe my eyes…… Roy Hibbert over Boozer or Noah…… The NBA has truely fallen off in the past couple of years awarding All-Star positions to players who haven’t really earned them. Yes they are making up gor the past snubs with Dwill…. Dirk definitely didnt deserve a spot just because of his title last season seein as his production is down!!
