Andrea Bargnani to Miss More Time With Strained Calf

According to Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey, no one should expect to see Andrea Bargnani on the floor anytime soon. Per the National Post: “The Toronto Raptors will be without Andrea Bargnani for the foreseeable future. Having already missed 14 games this year because of a strained calf — six in mid-January and eight more since re-injuring the left leg on Jan. 25 in Utah — Bargnani is poised to miss much more action. It would not be a surprise if he sat out until the all-star break, two weeks from now, although that is just an extrapolation of head coach Dwane Casey’s comments. ‘His timeframe is extended, whether it is two weeks or three weeks, whatever it is,’ Casey said Thursday afternoon after the team’s practice. ‘We’re not putting a day on it. Extended is beyond day to day, I think. We’re not [spending] each day waiting on him. … He’s back when he’s back. That’s the same message we gave to the team. We’re not going to rush him back. We need him back. But we’re not going to rush him.’ Bargnani is averaging career bests of 23.5 points and 6.4 rebounds, as well as a 47.6% field-goal percentage and 6.4 free-throw attempts per game.”

Well, on the bright side, at least the Raptors can look forward to a nice draft pick this summer…

man, i don’t know where to start with this team but tanking the season would be good for now. next they need to dump jose, bargnani & amir johnson and their fat contracts. and please don’t give demar more than 6-7 mill a year next year. watching the raptors makes me sad.

@floe I agree with everything you said except dumping Bargnani. I think his contract is a great value for what he gives you.

It’s a fool around season anyway. You can see that just by looking at their off-season signings. They will be buyers next off-season and they’ll get Valanciunas back + their 2012 draft pick. They honestly don’t care this season and with their roster, they shouldn’t. I’m satisfied with a few wins there and there and when they play with effort and passion.

co-sign floe! As offensively gifted as Bargs is, you’ll NEVER win with your starting C/PF playing 35 minutes a game with only about 35 seconds of that time towards total defensive effort. Has he improved defenively this season? Yes. By about 34 seconds of total defensive effort per game . . . People like to compare him to Dirk, but Dirk’s averaged 9 or more rebounds 5 times in his career . . . There’s NO WAY Bargs gets to 9 boards per even once!

Da-Meat this season Andrea is (was) getting more boards than Dirk……so shut your mouth
