Carl Landry to Miss 2-4 Weeks With MCL Sprain

Tough news for Carl Landry, as the Hornets’ forward is expected to be out of action for up to a month. From the Times-Picayune: “In a posting on his Twitter account Sunday afternoon, New Orleans Hornets backup forward Carl Landry said he sustained a Grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left leg in Saturday night’s loss to the Detroit Pistons. ‘Grade 2 MCL sprain…. I’ll be back out there on the court playing the game I love as soon as I can…’ Landry said in the Tweet. According to several internet medical websites, recovery time from a Grade 2 MCL sprain can be beween two to four weeks. League sources said Sunday that the Hornets would sign forward Lance Thomas, who was with the club during training camp and for the first two regular season games, on Monday to a 10-day contract. He was waived by the Hornets on Dec. 31. A Grade 2 sprain is characterized by a partial tear or sprain to the ligament. The knee usually exhibits some instability, especially while making a cutting or pivoting motion. There is significant swelling or bruising ordinarily with this type of injury, as well as movement restriction.”
