CBA Refuses Letter of Clearance for Wilson Chandler

Several teams are waiting to sign Wilson Chandler once he leaves the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). But the CBA has refused to give Wilson Chandler a letter of clearance to play immediately in NBA, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski. According to Chandler’s agent, though, approval to play in NBA should come this week: “The China Basketball Association has refused to give Wilson Chandler a letter of clearance to play immediately in NBA, sources tell Yahoo! [...] Chandler will file an appeal and a source believes resolution is possible within next week. Still, no one is sure how soon this plays out. [...] One source in process tells Y! he believes there’s a “good chance” an LOC will be obtained in coming week. For now Denver has to wait.”

I wonder if he doesn’t decide to go back to Denver , which other teams would he consider? L.A?

If they offer him a nice contract^ , I was thinking maybe the clippers , slide butler to the 2 and have Wilson at the 3 , that would be a sick starting 5

Isn’t he still in contract with Denver?

He is a rfa so Denver can match offers

IIRC, the Clippers can’t offer much to Wilson Chandler. They can offer him the veteran’s minumum and he surely won’t sign for that. However, if he does sign on for the veteran’s minimum, then the Clippers can offer him more money next year. I sort of doubt that he will sign the Clippers though. And Butler at the 2 spot is bad for the Clippers, as Butler has been burned by 2s all season whenever he’s placed there.

@Red , I dunno. I think players contracts were voided when they signed overseas. @Matt , how much does Denver have to offer if you know, and I thought carron could gaurd 2′s lol

Red, no, just like JR went and signed with Knicks and Kenyon signed with Clippers, their contracts were voided as a result of the new CBA the league signed.

Just the idea of Wilson Chandler on the Clippers is ABSURD. Just..UGH, 1-5 so unfair lol

Chandler is a restricted FA. No previously existing NBA contracts were voided when players signed in China. Only free agents could sign there. The Nuggets can match any offer that Chandler signs, and I believe they are still allowed to exceed the cap to re-sign him. It will depend on what he’s offered and whether the Nuggets think he’s worth it.

Caron Butler was a good, tough defender (very generic adjectives, I know) but his knee seems to have really drained his ability to stay in front of 2′s. He doesn’t close out as hard as he used to in fear of getting blown by and he just in general struggles to guard quicker players. Even on forwards Butler is struggling.
tldr; Butler is struggling defensively this year most likely due to his knee injury.
