Dirk Nowitzki is Not an All-Star, According to Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki’s well-documented struggles this season have led the perennial All-Star forward to determine that he is not deserving of an invite to the mid-season showcase. From the Dallas Morning News: “Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki has played in 10 consecutive NBA All-Star games. He also is coming off a season in which he won his first championship and was named the NBA Finals’ Most Valuable Player. But Nowitzki sounds like he doesn’t expect to be an All-Star this year. He wasn’t voted in as a starter. Those results were announced last week. Coaches vote on the seven reserves in each conference. Those results are scheduled to be announced on Thursday. Nowitzki was asked after [Mondays's] practice whether he thinks he can make a case for himself for being included in this month’s All Star game in Orlando. ‘Not really,’ he said. ‘I mean, averaging whatever, 15, 16 points, I don’t think you should be an All-Star. But we’ll just have to wait and see. I think there’s a lot of great young talent in this league that deserves to go. I think LaMarcus Aldridge has been stiffed the last couple of years. He’s a great young player, fun to watch. You know Blake (Griffin); and (Kevin) Love is playing great, so there’s a lot of talent at my position. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.’”

totally agree with dirk, he better not make it and leave LMA on the outside looking in again. This is not a lifetime achievment award (barkley voice)

Dirk keeping it real, showing appreciation on the younger players. But is there anyone who didn’t made the all-star team the following season prior to being regarded as the best player in the play-offs the previous??
