Eric Gordon Interested in Joining the Indiana Pacers?

by Marcel Mutoni @marcel_mutoni

Eric Gordon, currently nursing a knee injury that was more serious than originally thought, is already thinking about his impending free agency.

Gordon will be a restricted free agent this summer, and the Indiana Pacers are one of the teams that he could see himself signing with. He tells the Indy Star that playing in his hometown would be pressure-packed, but a fun adventure nonetheless:

Former North Central High School and Indiana University star Eric Gordon will experience free agency for the first time in his four-year NBA career this summer. The soon-to-be restricted free agent has no idea where he’ll play next season, but he knows his hometown team, the Indiana Pacers, is on the list of teams he finds intriguing. The New Orleans Hornets will be able to match any offer made to Gordon this summer.

“It’s going to be interesting,” Gordon said Tuesday. “It’s all about whatever happens, happens. Coming back here would be a lot of pressure, but I think it would be good for the fans. We’ll see. You never know where this summer will take me.”

Will the Indiana Pacers offer big-time money to Eric Gordon, especially given his tendency to get hurt (he’s only once played more than 70 games in his four seasons in the NBA)? Only time will tell, of course.

So, to recap: the New Orleans Hornets, an abominably bad team with a shaky and controversial ownership situation, lost a future Hall of Famer (Chris Paul), a solid big man (David West), and might now be losing another All-Star caliber talent in Eric Gordon. Amazing.

hmmmm Odom (before mental breakdown), Scola, Kevin Martin and Dragic or Kaman, Aminu, injured Gordon and possible non lottery Minny pick???

  • Nick Posted: Feb.22 at 10:04 am
AND a disgruntled and soon to be traded for scrubs Chris Kaman who is still an All-Star talent when healthy. SMH

Thank you David Stern. Your a douche.

  • Seth Posted: Feb.22 at 11:03 am
The league should squeeze out the Hornets. They’re in awful shape and the future does not look bright. Is that possible even though they’re owned by Stern and the NBA?

  • datkid Posted: Feb.22 at 11:13 am
he should be considering the sixers too…

  • misso Posted: Feb.22 at 11:23 am
    Come to the Magic

  • niQ Posted: Feb.22 at 11:39 am
Gordon’s played less games each season, and now only 2 games this season. Teams are going to pay loads of money for an shooting guard that’ll spend more time on the bench than on the court…

^Agreed. He’s had health issues before and once your knees start going bad it’s not a good sign for things to come. Hopefully he proves us wrong but, I wouldn’t break the bank to get him.

this was whispered last year when he was a clipper. no surprise here. if he can get healthy, then pacers trade granger for a pg or pf, they could be really really really nice. and they already are really nice

hope he is not roy v.2 and the hornets…relocate them to seattle, and then the nba can force the thunder to trade their entire roster for the hornets roster

  • that dude Posted: Feb.22 at 12:56 pm
Let’s see Gordon, Oden, Zach Randolph= Indiana has something in it’s water that messes up knees.

If he joins the Indiana Pacers then they have a Definite shot at a NBA title. Now tell me Paul George, Danny Granger, Eric Gordon, David West and Roy Hibbert couldn’t compete for an NBA championship. That team would be better than Chicago and up there with Miami. If I were Gordon I would want to come to Indy because it will be a while before New Orleans is ready to win a Championship especially with playing in the tough Western Conference.

He’s not going anywhere. His free agency is restricted so the hornets can and will match any offer made to him. It won’t be max money cause of the injury issues, but he’s the best player on a horrible team and the best piece stern has in trying to selling the team. He might want to contact cp3 and see about his real estate agent lol..he might be there a while.

If I’m EG I sign a qualifying 1 year offer this off season and bolt next year.

  • Free Speech Posted: Feb.22 at 3:26 pm
the hornets are going to lose him, this summer or the next. he doesn’t like it in new orleans, and the hornets will low ball him on a bad offer and gordon will choose to play for 1 year qualifyning offer, then he’s gone !
david stern will learn a lesson to never play GM again because he would have basically given chris paul to the clippers and gotten nothing back in return, as eric gordon was the centre-piece of the clippers offer. chris kaman and his expiring deal will be gone too.
david stern has ruined the hornets future ! all that would be left is alfa-krooks aminu and some draft picks that never guarantee a future superstar.
the lakers deal would have given the hornets kevin martin (who hapens to be playing at elite level) for the next 3 years

Sick of hearing about where guys wanna go.

  • Samm Posted: Feb.22 at 5:15 pm
bring yo ninja turtle ass to the better side of Los Angeles. LAKERS!

  • dma Posted: Feb.22 at 8:23 pm
maybe that’s part of stern’s long-term plan. destroy the hornets and return a team to seattle?

  • coup Posted: Feb.22 at 10:21 pm
great pic for the headline, it really looks like he’s pondering this.

  • Cris Posted: Feb.22 at 11:38 pm
As a Hornets fan I hope the new owner tells Dell Demps to trade Gordon. He is not interested in been with the Hornets long term and his inability to stay healthy is a concern. Hornets already have their pick and T-Wolves pick in a talented draft pool. Hornets should resign Kaman and look to do a sign and Trade with Gordon in the off season or during the draft.

  • projectphantom Posted: Feb.23 at 12:37 am
Rather have Paul George. PG has an upside and apparently Gordon’s knees are on the downside. Knees and NBA don’t work out to well. Ask Brandon Roy and Greg Oden.

  • FLIGHT 9 Posted: Feb.23 at 8:44 am
sign with the bulls mean street baller..

  • ThisGuy Posted: Feb.24 at 1:09 am
The NBA will block all possible signings by other teams.

  • jay Posted: Feb.24 at 5:55 pm
I’m from Indy, and I know the family. Trust he won’t stay with the hornets. He”s not super high on coming home to play, but likes the direction the team is going, and he’s always been I Indiana type off guy. What to look for thru, if the Pacers resign Hill, the it highly likely that ej will come home

  • Random Posted: Feb.25 at 12:56 am
The Pacers have no reason to trade George for Gordon. George has higher upside, a more favorable contract, and the Pacers have a good shot at giving up nothing and signing Eric in the off-season. There is no reason to make an idiotic trade.

If the trend in Games Played per Season continues, this punk EG will play 1 game for the 12-13 season. Sign him up now!
