Kevin Durant: Winning All-Star Game MVP a Childhood Dream

Kevin Durant took home his first NBA All-Star MVP trophy after leading the West All-Stars to victory last night. Durant says it’s something he dreamed of since he was a child. From the AP: “The Oklahoma City Thunder forward scored 36 points and grabbed seven rebounds Sunday night to help the West hold off a late charge from the East in a 152-149 victory. ‘It’s just exciting to be named (an) All-Star, but to step it up another level and become MVP, it’s only something as a kid you dream about,’ Durant said. ‘Coming from where I come from, I didn’t think I would be here. Everything is just a blessing to me.’”

How can anyone not like this kid? I hope my son grows up wearing #35 on his chest.

Kobe was begging Durant to take the last shot and he still passed it…twice! How’s this not a news article?

  • Zabbah

I meant Kobe was begging Lebron. My bad.

Lebron choked on that last play. Don’t skip pass it cross court either give it to Melo whos open right near you or take it yourself. Awesome game tho and KDs a champ

@ Tempest: if you are going to put the blame on lebron for that turnover you cant excuse wade dropping the pass that wouldve put them up 1 with under a minute left. awesome game tho and KDs a champ

All-star stats are a joke! They make a big deal that kobe passed guys, who actually cares? The stats have no bearing and he beat MJ cuz he retired twice, I think other than the triple double or somehting crazy like 50 pts, its all notariety! Can we get an actual dunk contest though? The game was always secondary for me, but that dunk contest if you wanna still call it that, was the weakest thing I have ever seen!!! I thought due to the postponed season that maybe some of these all-stars or the League would want to put on a show, guess not. I am just confused with all these guys like Bron etc who watched all the historical contests, like I did and can compete, don’t want to? I doubt that 70% of the people who watched even knew who any of the guys were who went in it this year. This has to stop, either get some attractive names in there, or do away with it, it is a mockery of the legends of the past to even call it a dunk-contest!!
