Kobe Bryant on Jeremy Lin: ‘I Don’t Even Know What He’s Done’

Linsanity may have hit New York City and the rest of the NBA, but Kobe Bryant has never heard of it. When asked about the Lakers’ showdown with the Knicks tonight, Kobe claimed to not be at all aware of the exploits of NYC’s new Harvard-bred point guard sensation Jeremy Lin. Jimmy Toscano of the New York Post has the story: “”What? No idea,’ Bryant said last night after the Lakers’ 88-87 overtime win over the Celtics. ‘I know who he is but I don’t really know what’s going on too much with them.’ Pressed further, Bryant said, ‘I don’t even know what he’s done. Like, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I’ll take a look at [the tape] tonight though.’ … All Bryant could do was laugh when asked if he would cover Lin if need be—’I appreciate the question, though,’ he said before walking off to the shower.”

    Where the f*ck is ORANGE?!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Dagger

Wow. I think the Knicks just became likeable. At least until Melo returns.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

Hey MAMBIATCH, you heard about him now?
Lin combined with the return of the Nba finals Tyson Chandler and Novak/Jeffries just beat the oh so glorious yellow ones.
    Ouchie.

  • Rubitinyourface

    38-7-4. Nuff said!

  • Ken

That “30 and 10″ comment was pretty prescient. And yeah, Kobe shot around 33% tonight, and was outscored by Lin, so he should know now who he is.

  • BBaller

The Lakers should try to trade for Lin, then Kobe can really get to know him. 38 points, this should make people stop with the doubt. 38 points is impressive even if it’s after 5 games or 500.

  • jacuuli

Kobe knows who he is now! I’m still laughin about how I predicted this, don’t believe me? Look at my comment from earlier, lol

  • bnets

    38 points hahah

  • t-sizzle

wow.. on another note, Andrew Bynum’s some All-star starter huh?

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

JLin shoots 50+ percent and got 38 tonight AGAINST black mamba and the lakers… i guess kobe wont know who anybody is until somebody scores 82 points in a game

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

Say my name like destinys children , biotch

  • startown

Not taking anything away from the guy but it will probably be his career high, how many point guards get 38 points in a game, and their two best players were out, so he put up a lot of shots.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Dude, he put up 22 shots. That’s not much at all. Unlike Kobe, who shot close to 30 time yet scored less than Lin. Say my name, say my name.

  • Waskito

38 @ MSG @ 3rd start…@one of the greatest player… Still fairytale story even if he has to stop playing today. Got a lot story to his grandchild later

  • Matt Park

38 points on 22 shots??? And people are still doubting Lin??????????

  • startown

If he scores 38 against my Wolves, well then I will eat crow!

  • http://Slamonline.com 1982

Haha, I just knew this post would blow up after the game!

  • G-wiz

So what’s gonna happen to the dynamics once melo and stat rejoins the team? Btw these comments above a just all bloody outrageous?!

  • flipnoyce

LMFAO to all you haters and doubters. He just took Hobe and company to the school yard. I wonder what the Kobe fan boys will say next? Believe it, LIN is a BALLER!!!! Linsanity continues until Mello returns thats is. Hey Kobe!!! How does DumpLin taste?

  • KSupreme

People keep saying we need to see him against the clippers, heat, okc, bulls….have we forgotten that everyone in the NBA are pros….sure the nets are garbage, but is D-Will not an olympic gold medalist and all star? Utah is playing amazing team ball especially without any all star(s). Washington sucks….but they are PROS!!!! Sure the lakers are going down hill….is Kobe not one of the greats? This is not a fluke people….I’m not going to call people that bring down jeremy haters. We’re all entitled to our own opinions, but be reasonable…no amare, no melo..no problem..Jeremy Lin has single handedly brought team basketball back to this formerly lost ny squad that is constantly under pressure by its fans…(they had it for a little before melo came) Remember when melo was almost in tears when the Knicks couldnt figure out what to do. Everyone is waiting for Jeremy to have a subpar or terrible game just so they can bring him down….but he’s doing things that have never been done from a guy that was at the end of the bench. His stock is only rising. You are blind to think that he hasn’t proved anything yet. This team is still Melos and amares, but you best believe this team is a going to dominate now that Lin is on the scene. Amare will start playing the way he did in Phoenix cause Lin will find him the way Nash did. Chandler will be feared on the pick and roll. The double team is now eliminated because Lin and melo can score at will. Fields, shumpert will play with confidence. The bench will be utilized to its full extent. Steve novaks career has been resurrected because of Lin. The options are there now because the Knicks finally can put the ball in someone’s hands that create in such a simple system with many options. D’Antoni is an excellent coach, he just needed a point guard like Nash.

Congrats to you Knicks fans…I’m a lakers fan, but r.i.p lakers (unless u make an epic trade)

  • http://leipzig-eagles.de/ Speedy

This comment section had to explode after this game.
Lin is hungry and competitive. I like it.
    Sorry Kobe.

  • ChipS

What I find funny, is that people haven’t given Melo a chance to show he can play with Lin. The Knicks started getting it together before Lin. The two losses to Chi and Bos, Melo moved the ball and guys missed their shots. It won’t be the first time Melo played with a good point guard, Billups,Iverson, and Andre Miller who Lin reminds me of, just more athletic and doesn’t post. When you take a natural scorer like Melo and tell him to run the offense, the ball is going to stick. He’s a SCORER not a Point Forward. The media and the fans don’t realize that. It’s like telling a running back go play quarterback. All the talk about Amare needing a point guard, Melo needed one too, and now they got one. Knicks will be fine, Lin won’t put up 25-30 points a game but 12-15 with a couple more assists.

  • sinjun

@ Kholiday, looks like you eating your own words now son, feeling like a fool.

  • Will Lee

sorry not enough film study. He outscored you

  • el_larsen

    haha lol
    and now kobe?

  • http://www.thesmashbrothas.com zen garden

pretty sure he got a better understanding now..

  • AQWORD

LOL AT that NAZI bike , leave your whack style home coz here you wont be needing it + Jeremy Lin just gave the Mamba a little taste of what Shaq was offering. Lovin it. NBA where the truth always comes out happens.

  • Rik Smits Mullet

lin putting up nba2k12 numbers lol nice stuff.
Why are people referring to him as a rookie, he played last year for the warriors so that makes him a sophomore. But that are just details. Iam no knicks fan but hope this guy can keep it up. Also kobe fantasy beef to make his games more interesting and make him look more legendary are making him look foolish.
Also swap melo for lin in the all star game. Lol

  • MikeC.

And if you don’t know, now you know…

  • MikeC.

I just hope he can get the turnovers under control.

  • dstrong

any other predictions from the “I just ate me words” corner? The kid is for real.

  • http://aol.com wagers

Trade Melo for draft picks to not disturb team chemistry..

  • startown

pzl: Yep you are right best player in league. He will be on the Olympic team in no time, maybe not the US, but possibly Taiwan
