Kobe Bryant Suffered Nasal Fracture in the All-Star Game

Dwyane Wade’s hard foul on Kobe Bryant last night resulted in a nasal fracture for the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar guard. Per the team: “Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who was injured in Sunday evening’s All-Star game in Orlando, Fla., was examined after the game. Results of a CT scan revealed that Bryant suffered a nasal fracture. It is expected that Bryant will be examined and re-evaluated by ear, nose and throat specialist Dr. John Rehm on Monday when he returns to Los Angeles.”

    Wow!

Yep, that foul but wade was not needed. Especially in a game like this. then again, it was the forth quarter and the easy was trying to mount a comeback so no easy points. But I still say not needed.

    YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!(in my Marv Albert voice)

Next Sunday’s game should be interesting.

Might be a completely different Laker Roster, E. And when I say “might”, what I mean is “hopefully”.

  • Mitya

it wasn’t fourth quarter, I think it was the second

  • crooklyn

Hater, some people just cant see the next man going for it or getting it. Wade was overheard in the huddle saying that mamba was going for mvp, guess the hate got the best of him. We are all human at the end of the day, even dwayne

  • http://SaintSide.com alexcrook

@mitya oh snap it was too! my bad @crooklyn hahaha he sounded so salty about it too.

  • http://SaintSide.com alexcrook

Wait, no it wasn’t. It was third quarter. I started watching the game after half time.

Kobe is probably going to try and destroy Wade next Sunday, but with the way the teams match up I have my doubts as a Laker fan that they will win the game.

I doubt Lakers will win that game too…The Heat will throw double teams at Kobe and force the other Lakers to make the shots

There’s no way in hell Dwyane was trying to hurt Kobe. It was a crappy foul…looked like he was trying to rap him up lost his concentration for a second and swiped Bean’s nose. Dude was competing….Kobe didn’t cry about it. It was unfortunate.

S**t happens. It’s basketball. Every one wants to play the game for fun, and tell me once where it hasn’t gotten serious for any of you. In the end… you want to win. These guys are pro athletes that were chasing a 21 point deficit, so what are you expecting? Next please, cause it’s time to get ready for the 2nd half of the season.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

It really wasn’t a “dirty” play. Was it a little excessive for an All-Star game? Maybe, but he was just trying to prevent an easy dunk by reaching/swiping with 2 hands. People complain about uncontested dunks and lack of defensive effort during all-star games ALLLLLLL the time, then complain when a player displays the “no lay up” policy. I thought what made the 2nd half so much more entertaining was the fact that the East were actually competing and playing to win.

First Rondo, and now this!?!?! Derrick, Kevin…You’ve Been Warned LOL

  • McWill

This wasn’t DWade’s fault….Chris Childs broke Kobe’s nose years ago, DWade just aggravated the injury lmaoooo jk

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

That was a reckless fouls by Wade. Not intentional or anywhere close but it was bone headed for a foul in an all star game.

  • bike

Regardless, it turned a pretty boring contest into something pretty competitive. Changed the whole tune of the game. Why shouldn’t an All Star game be a hard fought contest that means something?

  • lemskiz

so does the Kobe System work with injuries? lolz

  • flipnoyce

This is more funnier than John Wall thinking he was getting a freebee dunk!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

Damn Kobe has got how many injuries over the past two years? Might be time.

  • LaKid

Thanks DWade, Laker Nation really appreciates that! Came out of nowhere, really no point because it’s a freakin’ all-star game.. god save you if he has to miss a game.

  • T-Money

i’m not going to defend wade there, that play was stupid. what’s the point of even wrapping up someone in a freaking all-star game? it wasn’t even in crunch time!

  • http://juan.garcia@computershare.com POW

D Wade is upset that most of Kobe’s all star points have come against him. That’s all.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Co-Sign people saying it wasn’t that big of a deal, but still WTF Wade? lol. It was obviously a total accident, but dam a “nasal fracture” lol.

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

Obviously an accident, but a very careless play by Wade. Nobody expects that in an All-Star game, so you don’t brace for ish like that.
I understand it though — Kobe played tough D on him the play earlier, causing a turnover, which Wade thought (or at least outwardly complained about) was a foul. He was just trying to match or up the intensity.
    Unfortunate.

  • http://juan.garcia@computershare.com POW

Plus Kobe’s trampling on Wades idols’ records.

  • Kadavour

no blood no foul eh Dwayne? looked like a retribution “you’re not getting that” foul as opposed to an overtly malicious play. He got ripped on the previous play and embarrassed himself on a back down attempt before that. Kobe showed him up. that’s all.

  • robb

I don’t know if that’s just an accident, you just don’t do that in an all star game.

  • Dan

Lakers should have Sheed ready to play on Sunday to give some cheap shots back

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

robb, the injury was an accident. The hard foul was not. I’m sure Wade didn’t mean to hurt KB, but he did, on a stupid foul so yeah he is a dummy.

  • charliewinning

@Kadavour: Nobody idolizes MJ like Kobe. Kobe tried to clone his game, Wade didn’t. It was a stupid foul; nothing more.

  • charliewinning

    My bad. That was @POW.

  • mintyfresh

I’m going to say it was unintentional… Wade would have lost a lot of respect.

Why don’t they compete hard the whole way? Because they have a season to play and the All Star game is supposed to be about entertaining the fans. Yes, it gets competitive in the fourth but when the foul happened, the game wasn’t close and it was in the third quarter still. You don’t let guys throw down dunks all game long and then decide to hard foul like that. No way was Kobe expecting that kind of foul either. Turns out he doesn’t just have a nasal fracture but he also has a mild concussion on top of it and yet he says he’s still playing the next game. I don’t know about that. Concussions, even mild ones, are not things to mess around with. Ask many of today’s hockey players what that’s like right now
