Kyrie Irving Suffering from a Concussion
Cleveland Cavaliers rookie sensation Kyrie Irving sat out last night’s game against the LA Clippers due to a concussion, and there’s no telling when he’ll be back on the court. From the Plain Dealer: “Kyrie Irving looked forward to his first showdown with Chris Paul on Wednesday. Instead, the rookie spent the night in the Cavaliers’ training room uncertain when he will play again. The point guard missed Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers with a concussion. There is no timetable for his return. Irving was kneed in the head during the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s game against the Miami Heat and complained of a headache after the game, according a team release. It’s the first NBA game Irving has missed. The club gave Irving the new NBA concussion test prior to Wednesday’s game, after which team physician A.J. Cianflocco made the diagnosis. Irving, who was on the court shooting prior to the game, did not join the team on the bench. Ramon Sessions started at point guard in Irving’s absence. The 19-year-old leads all rookies in scoring, averaging 18 points, and is second in assists with 5.1 per game.”
