Report: Rasheed Wallace to Sign with Lakers

When Rasheed Wallace was ejected during Game 7 of the 2010 Finals, many believed that was Sheed’s final NBA game. Well, it’s not. From CSN New England, reportedly, Rasheed Wallace is back: “CSNNE.com has learned that the former Boston Celtic forward plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. [...] “His days as a starter in this league are gone,’ said the source. ‘I think he knows that, and so do the Lakers. But think about it. Of the big men that are available, is there one that’s really better? And if he’s gotten himself in shape, adding him becomes a huge get for them.’”

both teams play hard. either they want a deeper front court, or they r gettig ready to trade pauw wow

  • LA Huey

Young Buss seems determined to fill the roster of the L’s glamour franchise with nothing but players that were the ire of David Stern. They’re definitely going to get Beasley. I’m sure of it now.

  • http://slamonline.com Brad Long

Nice pickup. Just because Sheed has been one of my all-time fave’s now playing on my favorite team. Can’t hate on that no matter how old he is. Wonder what we’re going to do for a pg for the rest of the season. (Realistic) Wish List-Raymond Felton, Agent 0, Baron Davis(he’s expendable for the Knicks now, right?), Ramon Sessions, Jamal Tinsley, T.J. Ford, The kid that comes to the park around the corner of my house and has crazy handles, basicly anyone but Derek Fisher.

Haha Lakers are spiraling out of control. On another note Wilcox looks like Rasheed & even has the same Son tattoo as him, it’s weird.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

    Rasheed…..Hollywood……..take some getting used to.

  • MUBWAR

he looked outta shape his last season in Bean town and that was 2 years ago. What’s goin on wit LA Arenas Sheed and Beasly.

  • ricky

this would really help the lakers

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Allen Iverson’s best shot to get back in the league is with the Lakers.

  • http://sajkfldl.com Jukai

Run a lineup of Arenas, Iverson, Artest, B-Easy and Rasheed. David Stern is going to explode.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    Ramon Sessions…

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I hope he is still semi-viable.

  • MikeC.

@Jukai – see if JR Rider has anything left in the tank. He would make a solid 6th man for the old-timers headcase lineup. Might have to swap B-Easy for an older dude though. What’s Keon Clark up to nowadays?

  • neaorin

If you needed confirmation from the Lakers themselves that their window is closed… well there it is.

  • WjL

we shouldnt even be talking about this, if stern wasnt a terrible commissioner the lakers would have chris paul right now and the lakers would be on top of the west but noo. cp3 kobe and the 2 seven footers god i wish tht would of went down

  • Ldub

Lakers could go after Antoine “shoulder shimmy” Walker! He is still in the D-League. Or Sean Rooks! Saw that dude 6 months ago refin’ one of my games in Corona, CA! He was still in decent shape! Bring back ROOK!

  • Ldub

@WjL You do realize the Pau was out to Houston if that trade woulda went down…and Odom woulda been in NO. SOOO there would have been only “one” 7 footer in Bynum and then possibly 1 6’11 guy in DH.

  • http://averysmith.org Avery Smith

Trailblazers to Jailblazers. Lakers to Jokers? Both have Rasheed Wallace…hmm…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Wayno

    SHEEEEEED!!!!

  • el_larsen

my heart is broke!!not the lakers!b easy ,sheed, two of my favorites playing for the team i hate the most (with the bulls)

  • TL

@ldub – hahah Sean Rooks! Dude was refin’ one of my games in OC too. I asked him what it was like to foul out every game he played in, and he said “You’re about to see.”

  • trueballer4life

SHEEEEEED MY FAVORITE PLAYER IS BACK!

  • http://www.slamonline.com aman from arkansas

Sheed is to old to play and has nothing left.

  • http://www.thesmashbrothas.com zen garden

get the funk outta here now who they gonna sign marbury

  • shutup

LMao Wilcox deos look exactly like him just doesnt have that spot on his head. I hope he got some left in the tank and can still really ball, maybe age has taught him he doesnt need to get a tech every game too

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

I only hope this provides many opportunities for sheed and bill walton to meet. Bill won’t punch him, he’s a pacifist

  • marty

face turn heel…face turn teel…face turn heel…face turn heel

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

If nothing else at this point, he’s a big body, some defensive presence, and a whole lotta heart…one thing that Laker frontcourt…well whole court, has been desperately lacking. This makes things a tad interesting in my view.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

    UNFROZENCAVEMAN, Pacifist = Pot Head

  • Robin

    All I have to say is L M A O !!

  • ERNIED

Good for Sheed. He knows he wont be forced into playing center as long as they have Gasol. It’s a big reason why he wouldn’t stay in Boston. He has been able to take the time off to rest his body. It will be fun to see him trash talk, shoot ill-advised 3 pointers, and use every one of his fouls… because he can.

  • ttc

    is he broke????

  • McWill

a gamble, but a win-win situation if he has anything left in the tank.

  • http://nba.com/celtics lights out

he was big for the Celtics in their 2010 playoff run, and he can probably help the lakers. but there will be plenty of games where he’ll have laker fans shaking their heads.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

This is a good move for the Lakers, to improve defense and he can stretch the floor with his 3 point shooting. Now we need Ramon Seesions or Raymond Felton for the trade exception. BOOK IT!!

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca niQ

    BALL DON’T LIE!

  • robb

    a PG please

  • http://nba.com/celtics lights out

he cannot stretch the floor with his three point shooting. opponents love to see him jacking it up from distance.

  • manu

this makes no sense…y wouldnt u just go to miami and get a free ring…this is comin from a mavs fan

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

How those this help them in anyway?

  • Justin G.

I don’t know about this one. The only thing the Lakers will lead the league in now is technical fouls. And WjL, Stern is one of the greatest commissioners in all of sports. Just sayin’

  • l2ising Phoenix

Sheed was one of best low post defenders , don’t forget that… Don’t worry the lakers will have a formidable team come playoff time, Sheed is just a nice pickup in the grand scheme of things, they get Felton and b easy without shaking up the roster , they’ll be in contention for another ring.

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

Even in old age, Sheed was one of the very very few players who could single cover Dwight. He’ll help. But I think Gilbert would help them more.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

    Just get Gilbert…
