Spencer Hawes Out Until After All-Star Break

Philly.com has the details: “Center Spencer Hawes is going to see a specialist about his sore left Achilles tendon and he will not play again until after the all-star break at the earliest, according to team president Rod Thorn. ‘That determination isn’t for sure yet, but the odds are that he probably will,’ Thorn said when asked if Hawes would be out until after the all-star break. ‘We certainly don’t want him going back out there until he’s ready to play.’ Hawes has missed 15 of the last 17 games because of the injury and 16 overall this season. He has already had an MRI exam on the tendon that came back negative… Thorn spent a good part of Wednesday afternoon on the phone with Hawes and his agent, Greg Lawrence, and they decided that now is a good time to have a specialist look at the injury. ‘That’s what you always do with a player if he’s not coming on as well as you’d like for it to be going,’ Thorn said. ‘You get a second opinion, and that’s what we’re going to do.’”

Can’t predict how injuries affect different people, but watching the Sixer big men give their all night in and night out despite being undersized and hurt as well, makes me slightly mad about Hawes. Whatever though, hopefully it’s his last year here.

That sucks. Dude started out the season playing so well. Had a couple of games near triple doubles. Then the injuries started to kick in. Meh.

I know this may sound weird but we need Dalembert back. We need inside presence that can scare the slashers into thinking they got an easy layup.
