Warriors Coach Mark Jackson Unhappy With Refs After Loss to Thunder

The Golden State Warriors lost a tight affair last night to the visiting OKC Thunder, and head coach Mark Jackson seemed to blame it mostly on the referees. From the San Fran Chronicle: “The Warriors blew a seven-point lead in the final seven minutes. In the fourth quarter, they committed six turnovers to the Thunder’s three and shot 38.9 percent to 47.6. But Jackson focused on the officials’ mistakes, taking one for the team and likely accepting a fine from the league in return. ‘We’re a no-excuse basketball team,’ Jackson said. ‘Like we say, ‘One play doesn’t lose it.’ But on that play at the end, David Lee gets hammered by James Harden, clearly. We don’t get that call. David Lee picks up his fifth foul when he doesn’t even put contact on Russell Westbrook, who blatantly fouls Monta Ellis. These are calls that you cannot get back, but they hurt us. I don’t accept ‘My bad’ from my players all night long, and it’s getting old accepting ‘My bad’ (from the officials) on missed calls.’”

I honestly feel that league wants the refs calling everything in favor of the thunder. I know its some conspiracy type stuff but I mean game after game after game you see the thunder not winning themselves they get help from the officials.

At some point these teams need to start focusing on themselves and not whining and blaming the refs. Bad calls happen in favor of both teams in every game. It’s been that way since the beginning of time.

Evan, what do you mean “not winning themselves?” Go watch the highlights. KD and Russ are coming through in the clutch when they have to. They grind it out for wins. They don’t give up and blame it on calls.

There were a few iffy calls, but the Dubs cant leave it in the refs hands. There were so questionable shots by steph and monta (congrats on the career high) that i felt should have gone to the rack. KD and RW played their a$$es off. But never the less, you gotta go get it yourselves. Late game decisions is what lost this game, not the refs.

You conspiracy people are pathetic. As is Mark Jackson. “We’re a no-excuse basketball team, it doesn’t come down to one bad call….” Then goes on to describe one call he thought lost the game for them. What a prick.

The refs were not the reason they lost the game, but it’s hard to overlook those calls when you’re on the losing end of a close game like that.

Mark Cuban was right, has been a terrible year for reffing so far. I watched the thunder/Dubs game which was largely one of the most entertaining games of this season IMO..but it was a shame to see a shadow cast on the game because of the terrible officiating

david lee’s fifth foul was mind boggling. he sets a pick for monta, westbrook barely touches him, and it’s a foul

the refs have been terrible this season, the Warriors are not the only team suffering from it. Bynum not getting a call late in the game against the Nuggets almost cost the Lakers that game.

The refs might miss a few calls Mark Jackson, but don’t blame you guys losing on them! The ref doesnt turn the ball over! You’re better than that (YOUR VOICE)!

The league just ruled that the L.A (OKC vs. POR) goldtending call, shouldn’t have been called. 0_o

Agreed. The officiating is at all time low and that’s saying something because i think it has been poor for at least the last 5 years. Hold referees accountable, they are rolled in bubble-wrap by the league and nobody can say a word against them.

that’s three straight close games the thunder have won with suspect calls at the end of the game. The Dallas game was a disgrace, the “goaltending” they called on Aldridge was sh*t; I didn’t see this game, so I can’t really say from experience what went down but it doesn’t surprise. And what the hell is the point of coming out after the game and admitting a mistake was made, in the case of the block? Does Portland get the win back? Do they replay the last 10 seconds of the game with the blazers up 2? No, they just piss everyone off.

i hate crying about the refs, but watching OKC lately, man….

last night made me lose faith in the nba. in either (or both) vegas’ or k street’s pocket. the elbow to ellis’ face and the call on lee the worst i’ve seen. no fun. not a sport.

  • Stev

Wasn’t just that one call. There were many all night. The NBA makes “situational” calls. Just call the damn game according to the rules, not according to who is making a play!

25 Games in and Mr Jackson is learning two things.

    1. Coaching is Hard
    2. Coaching the Warriors is VERY Hard.
