Blazers Trade Gerald Wallace to Nets

League sources tell Yahoo! that the Nets are sending Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and a protected first-round pick to the Blazers for Gerald Wallace. Stay on top of the latest at SLAM’s trade deadline live chat, as this probably isn’t the end for either Jersey or Portland: “Blazers have reached agreement in principle to send Gerald Wallace to Nets for 2 players and protected 2012 1st-round pick, source tells Y!”

a win for the Nets. there’s more reason for deron to stay (and dwight to join) now.

    Dwill and Crash…interesting

The Nets are in trouble.. i wouldnt give up anyone of those early first rounders they have. This draft will be incredible. Just work on Deron staying and Dwight’ll fall to em

A starting 5 of Lopez, Hump, Wallace, Brooks and Williams isn’t THAT bad. It’s just a shame the rest of the roster sucks.

    Poor Crash.

man, dude has been traded a lot

  • Rainman

The nets arent all that smart with this one in the long run…this is only a top 3 protected pick. They arent gonna have a top 3 pick, so they’re lottery pick (top 10 most probably, they still arent making the playoffs this year…) is a DEEP Draft, goes right to Portland.

When is the next time the Nets even get to draft in the 1st round? Derrick Favors isn’t there either, this team has no first round talent. If Wallace and Deron opt out this year, they won’t have a 1st for 3 years and no talent to recruit anybody. Big gamble.

    What in the entire fonk?

POR has quickly become a joke.

the blazers are tanking this year, and they have decided that batum is their future 3. This years draft should be deep, but a lot of scouts are not as high on it as they used to be, a lot of the players that came back to school haven’t really improves that much from their freshman year.

Traded a lot? He spent his first three in Sac. Then spent 8 years with BETcats. Portland to NJ. Pretty calm compared to some vets.

  • RunNGun

Crashin’ back to the East. Portland going into rebuild mode.

  • Mundo

portland should never have given up miller last year

NJ better hope they can resign dwill. I`m not sure getting wallace will be enough to keep dwill there though. If I was NJ I would go after trevor ariza and try to solidify the 3 and the 1. At the 1: dwill (starter), farmar (reserve). At the 3: ariza (starter), wallace (reserve). not getting dhoward could really hurt their chances of signing dwill.

    Billy King ftw!
My boy Deron has a horse to run with him, plus he has Hump and Lopez. Morrow to provide shooting. Deron needs to take that extra year and see what’s up.

Don’t the Nets have two first round picks this year or something. And it’s lottery protected, so basically it won’t be moving this year.

  • Rainman

^ only protected through the top 3 picks my man. A pick they wont be getting anywyas (as they wont be THAT bad now with Wallace) So basically a top 10 pic down the drain for the Nets in a deep draft.

  • Mike from Spain

Hi, anyone care to direct me to a link that explains the protected picks? I don’t know how that works.

  • anonymous

A deep draft compared to what, last year`s massacre?

  • Dungeon Family

    Portland really is Cursed

  • http://idunkonthem.blogspot.com albie1kenobi

wow. crash’s due close to 10 mil this year. no wonder both bobcats and portland traded him since his production would have actually worked against them.
anyone thinks he’ll pick up his player option for next year to run with Deron?

  • Waggle

    Portland blowing it up. Wow.

  • dma

there’s gotta be a reason crash was traded last year for an expiring przybilla and dante cunningham. and now another expiring big and williams AND a top 10 draft pick. that’s buying low and selling high. blazers are HUGE winners on this trade.

  • djb

    @dma agreed.

  • djb

I think gwallace is worth about half (5 mil) of his current salary and would benefit his team more as a bench player than as a starter, esp with the energy with which he plays.

  • oliver herrera

nets should have gotten kobe bryant not gerald wallace

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Oh I dont like the trade if it is only top three protected. That is too rich for Wallace. I thought it was lottery protected or at least top eight. I have cooled on this deal.

Portland doing the opposite of goung “all in”…they are going “all out” hahaha
