Brandon Jennings Unnerved By Trade Rumors

Brandon Jennings’ comments last month about possibly leaving Milwaukee for a bigger market predictably didn’t sit well with the Bucks’ front-office, and as his name gets bandied about in trade rumors, Jennings tells the Journal Sentinel that it’s not a good feeling: “Jennings said he was taking a nap Monday afternoon at the team hotel in New York City when his phone started buzzing constantly. ‘My phone was full with messages and everything,’ the 22-year-old Jennings said. ‘Now we’re in the hunt to make the playoffs; we’re one game out and we’ve been playing so well since the all-star break. Now that I hear my name being mentioned in possible shopping around and stuff like that, my mind is just all over the place right now.” [...] ‘But with a trade, there’s nothing you can possibly do about it,’ Jennings said. ‘You won’t hear from the front office. Of course they wouldn’t tell you. The main thing is I’m still able to do what I love and that’s play basketball, at the end of the day. I have no negative thing about it; but my mind is just wandering now. This is where I started my career. It can kind of shake up the team, the fact that we’ve been rolling.’ Jennings is averaging 18.7 points, 5.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds and is the only Bucks player to appear in every game this season.”

he has been playing well lately, i don’t know about the direction of this team though, felt real positive a couple of years ago when they gave the hawks a run for their money. Now it’s just…meh

You can’t comment about possibly wanting to leave and then complain when your team tries to do something about it. If you didn’t want to be involved in trade rumours, you should of never mentioned wanting to leave!

No ish, Sherlock. He brought this on himself. Dudes need to realize that sometimes there are repercussions to opening your mouth and saying what he said.

Yeah, can’t complain about trade rumors when you pretty much put yourself on the block. That being said, it’s not like the situation gets much worse than Milwaukee.

I’m confused, why hasn’t someone said the lakers are going to get him yet? Isn’t that what every says about every player? “Fisher and MWP of Jennings, make it happen Lakers!!”

This might be Stephen Jackson’s ticket out of town too. Jennings is a nice young player on a rookie contract. Bucks can package Jennings with Jackson and take back an established star. Or, they could just decide to ruin the rest of Dwight Howard’s year, and go for cap space. Trade Jennings and Bogut for Dwight and whatever else is needed to match salaries. Dwight leaves in the offseason, and Milwaukee has tons of space to facilitate trades and pick up assets. Or they could just say to Jennings “Hey dummy, you get paid millions of dollars to play basketball and you stand to make many millions more. If you’re half as good as you think you are, you’ll stay here and turn the Bucks into winners. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll do the right thing a few years down the road and trade you. Be a winner, not a quitter.” Or something like that.
