Cavs Trade Ramon Sessions to Lakers

Brian Windhorst reports that the Lakers have agreed to a trade Luke Walton, Jason Kapono and a 2012 first-round pick for Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga. The Lakers certainly need the backcourt help, but is Sessions enough for L.A. to return to its Championship-winning ways? Weigh-in at SLAM’s trade deadline live chat: “Cavs send Ramon Sessions & Christian Eyenga for Luke Walton & 2012 Lakers first rounder. LAL gets right to swap ’13 1st rounder w/Heat pick.”

just cause a beasley trade make sense to the lakers doesn’t mean it make sense to the wolves. this isn’t NBA Live.

Nice pick-up for the Lakers. The Cavs did this trade for the pick – they are all about collecting assets. A pick in the 20-25 area of this draft can land them a good big like Fab Melo or even a worthy wing. Also, it was highly doubful that Sessions was going to pick up his player option just to be Kyries back-up another year, so the Cavs figured it’s better to get something in return for him. A believe it or not, Walton actually helps the Cavs avoid being under the salary minimum next year. And because it’s expiring, Walton will be a trade asset in 2013 for a team looking to cut salary. So really a smart move by the Cavs.

Man, can’t believe they didn’t go for Beasley.

If they had Sessions/G-Lock/Beasley as their backup 1-2-3 that would have been a nice scoring trio to extend leads.

@LakeShow: you need to have point guards to trade with Kahn, which was Lakers’ problem in the first place

@The NUPE: nice breakdown of the trade, especially on Walton, which was the part i didn’t get.

albie we have a bunch of bottom feeding Point Guards… Oh yeah Khan likes slightly above abysmal point guards… Hmm makes sense.

back to back 20 assists guy in his rookie year!!…. I HOPE this guy becomes the next super PG.

@albie…the reason he chose the Wolves two years ago? MONEY…the wolves had it, no one else did…and Kahn wanted to spend, hende the signing. It was dumb…but yeah, kahn was involved so.

Great trade for the lakers i still don’t think that they can beat the thunder or a healthy spurs but at least there better than the clippers. for the cavs they got a nice pick in the latter half of the first round and can draft a fab melo, moe harkless, austin rivers, james mcadoo evan fournier; i mean they have options with that pick to take someone that could be a solid contributor for this team down thee road or they can trade. I think this trade helps the lakers more but the cavs at least got a pick so everyone is happy.

LA BACK IN THE MIX! Hell yeah. A PG that can actually defend. What I’m now interested to see is whether Kobe’ll work more off-ball now….

Luke Walton’s lousy contract is now Dan Gilbert’s problem. Somehow, this feels right. LOL.
