DeMarcus Cousins to Tim Duncan: ‘Sh*t, You’re Good!’

As the San Antonio Spurs were putting the finishing touches on their win over the Kings in Sacramento last night, DeMarcus Cousins turned to Tim Ducan and offered his compliments to the future Hall of Famer. Reports the Sac Bee: “At one point Wednesday night, Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, 21, turned to San Antonio Spurs power forward Tim Duncan, 35, and complimented him as only Cousins could. ‘(Expletive) you’re good,’ Cousins recalled saying. That could go for Duncan’s teammates, too, as they didn’t look like a veteran team playing its fifth game in six nights in beating the Kings 117-112 at Power Balance Pavilion. The Kings have lost four games in a row. The Spurs have won six in a row. There was a lot of talk about the Kings, who have the second-worst record in the Western Conference, learning from the Spurs, who have the second-best record in the West.”

  • abaci

this is the first likeable thing he has done in the league

  • DruNyce

This is the guy he should patent his game after since he’s not an ‘above the rim’ type of player.

  • Heals

I hear ya abaci, but he’s been much a much better teammate and coachable recently. Great to see and the 2 of them had a few funny exchanges last night, gotta like how the Kings are playing right now…

    lol, love it.

    Where you been young fella?
Then again, when Duncan came into the League, Cousins was probably 8-years-old.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

Duncan probably tried to force a smile.

  • Shem

I would much rather Cousins’ immaturity than McGee. Cousins is an emotional guy that wants to be heard, McGee is just plain stupid.

  • T-Money

    shem, i’m much more pragmatic. 18-11 > 12-9.

  • MikeC.

Duncan was confused until someone added the expletive to his O/S dictionary.

Cousins is good too man. He may not be a leaper, but he’s very quick and agile for his size. I watched him face up Duncan at the top of the key, pump fake, two dribbles spin and hit a double pump layup with his left. Not many dudes his size could have pulled that move off. He’s just gotta stay focused on improving. I think him giving Duncan this compliment is a sign of his maturity. Last year he would have just been sulking the whole game.

Next thing you know he’ll be calling Olajuwon for off-season tips!

  • http://cechicagorilla@aol.com yada

best pf ever. yanno ive been sleeping on them because i didnt think they had enough but adding jack plus diaw. mann the spurs might have the horses to come out the west

  • Zack

There was a point in the game where Cousins was arguing a call or something during play and you could see TD looking at him like, STFU and play. Pretty funny to me, but Cousins is definitely improving. A lot better than I first realized.

  • riggs

    MikeC.: hahahahaha

  • Audie

demarcus should be getting in touch with timmy over the off season and learn how to become that good

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

DMC is quite a jumper also dfrance.
    -Duncan is the sh*t though.

  • MirChilly

Cousins, meet Duncan and work out with him in the summer!

  • bike

Tim Duncan to DeMarcus Cousins: ” “

  • Jerome

One and done players are ruining the L. Too young to be professional and wanting the money > understanding what it takes to improve.

I want to see Cousins and Duncan in the same backcourt in San Antonio–a real “Twin Towers” C-PF revival. Make it happen, Popovich.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

frontcourt*… But backcourt would be awesome too.

  • LA Huey

    Cousins: Sh*t, you’re good!
    Duncan: thx =)

  • AiRsMiTh

Lol, @Teddy-the-Bear, seeing Magic Cousins running the point with Tim Duncan playing the 2 would be interesting.

  • http://www.nba.com JB

assumption…Cousins didn’t watch the NBA while growing up

  • shutup

Just shows how much the Spurs are slept on. Even when the best pf in the game today debate comes up Duncan is rarely in anyone’s top ten. Sure his numbers have dropped off but theres no statistic to show how he anchors this team. Make no mistake Tony Parker is the engine but Duncan has the ability to turn it on when needed.

  • robb

He’s the best PF of all time, of course he’s good numb nuts.

  • BBaller

Should of been an All star, as Shutup says, when needed he can play like one. Not many that have played the game better or smarter.

  • ClydeSays

    MikeC: Perfect.

  • RedRum

    TD reply to DeMarcus: 10011001110010101

  • Justin G.

@Zack…which is ironic because Duncan was one of the worst whiners to the refs in history

  • IamYOU

Is this the first time cousins played TD? or was he high while playing?

  • Edmund

Its funny guys are saying “no (shoot) he’s good” when youre looking at the comments… we see how good TD is, and has been over his career. I’m sure DMC has watched film/highlights of TD, and knows hes very skilled, but think about what its like for a young NBA player to actually go toe-to-toe for 30 mins a night with a guy like TD. you’d be saying the same thing. I know I would, even being a lifelong spurs/heat fan.

  • Artreon

Lol priceless. Cousins has averaged around 27 points the last 6 games though. One day he might have someone saying that to him.

  • Scot Peirson

Timmy has been the best BIG of this era. I love how many have chosen to define Duncan as the best 4 ever–because in truth, he was a center on defense. But if TD gets defined as a center, it means that there’s an argument about whether Duncan or Shaquille O’Neal was the best center. To be blunt, Shaquille wanted NOTHING to do with Timmy–which was why Phil Jackson made sure he had any other big than Shaq cover Duncan. Timmy would work that bank shot on Shaq until Shaq stepped to him, then Timmy would drive around O’Neal and plant it on him–look at the ’99 playoffs, look at Game 6 in the 2003 Western Semis (39 and 16 for Duncan as SA blew out the Lakers in LA to finish that series); or even Game 1 of SA/Phoenix in 2008–remember that Steve Kerr got Shaq from Miami to stop TD if the Suns played San Antonio??!? Game 1–Duncan, 44 and 14, and fouled Shaq out.
Timmy has been the best big man of this generation. Not the loudest. But if I had a son that was going to be big, I’d want him watching tape of Tim Duncan, because he’d see how to win, be a good teammate…AND A CLASS ACT.

  • http://minusthebars.blogspot.com don

Still gotta beat the Grizzlies though…

  • Qt

Justin G that all you got to knock TD with. So lame. EVERY PLAYER in the NBA whines. DMC will never be able to hold TD’s jock strap. DMC just falls his lazy butt over & fakes a charge when some drives the lane.

Honestly his name should be just Marcus cuz he got no D.

  • Greg

Scott Peirson, I couldnt have said it better myself…
