Derek Fisher Reaches Buyout Agreement With Houston Rockets

A few days after the Lakers traded him and a Draft pick to Houston in exchange for Jordan Hill, Derek Fisher has reached a buyout agreement with the Rockets that’ll allow him to sign with a new team—anyone except the Lakers, per League rules—once he clears waivers. Yahoo! has the report: “Derek Fisher has reached a buyout agreement with the Houston Rockets and is expected to become a free agent once he clears waivers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Fisher, 37, was traded to the Rockets on Thursday with a 2012 first-round draft pick for forward Jordan Hill. Fisher became expendable after the Los Angeles Lakers acquired point guard Ramon Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fisher will likely have a deal with a contender soon. A new rule in the collective bargaining agreement doesn’t allow him to get bought out after a trade and re-sign with the Lakers this season.”

I hope D. Fisher will go to either Miami or Spurs

Ironic (in the Alanis Morrisette way) that the new rule that means he can’t go back to the Lakers was one that he was involved in negotiating as head of the players’ association.

He is gonna retire or go to Miami or Los Angeles (Clippers).

Kind of disturbing to see how many people don’t read beyond the headline.

He should probably just be like screw it, I’m done.

If the Spurs are retiring Bruce F@#%ing Bowen’s jersey, I think the Lakers can retire Fisher’s jersey…

^The Spurs also hardly have the history that the Lakers do. If Cooper and Scott don’t get their numbers up in the rafters, I don’t think Derek Fisher should.

Fisher deserved his money. He was a coach on the floor.

  • RunNGun

Wow… lmfao at the idiots who didn’t read the article. Fisher can’t go back to the LAkers. To the Knicks… make it happen, Morey!

They’re saying he wants to go to the Bulls or Heat.

lol he SUCKS. the only reason he is of any value is because he was a team leader in LA. but putting him on another team that already has a team leader?? he’ll be completely useless because he is SO SLOW at point now. he’s also a dirty player. it is not “toughness” when he knocks another player down for no damn reason. it is tackiness. i’m glad rockets didn’t keep him.
