LeBron James: Derek Fisher Wouldn’t Be a Bad Fit in Miami

Free agent Derek Fisher is looking to join a contender, and the Miami Heat are one of the teams reportedly on the veteran guard’s short list. LeBron James says that he wouldn’t mind teaming up with Fisher. From the Sun-Sentinel: “ESPN reported the Heat are on Fisher’s short list of possible teams. The others are the Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder. James said he would be open to Fisher joining the team if the Heat chooses that option. ‘One thing you know about Derek Fisher is that he’s a winner,’ James said after Monday’s practice. ‘He’s not afraid of the moment and he’s won multiple championships. I don’t know what our plans are but I don’t see it as a bad fit if it happens. What we have we’re comfortable with, but he could fit anyone’s team because of his leadership and his commitment to winning.’ Fisher met with the Heat when they signed James and Chris Bosh two summers ago. He ultimately decided to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won five NBA titles. The Lakers last week traded him to the Houston Rockets, who then bought out his contract. Fisher wanted to play for a contender instead of the struggling Rockets.”
