Michael Beasley Had to Wear Kevin Love’s Shoes Due to Sprained Toe

Thanks to Kevin Love’s “fat foot”, Michael Beasley was able to play through his painful toe injury a couple of nights ago. Reports the Star Tribune: “So who says nobody on the Timberwolves can fill Kevin Love’s shoes? Michael Beasley did in a 117-100 victory over Denver on Sunday, when he borrowed a pair of Love’s size-19 sneakers because his sprained big toe was too swollen to fit comfortably into his own. ‘He’s got a fat foot,’ Beasley said. ‘He’s like a triple E or something.’ The forward played 22 minutes, scoring 11 points on 5-for-15 shooting despite a bad toe that caused him to miss Friday’s double-overtime loss at Oklahoma City. He and guard Luke Ridnour (groin, sore back) practiced Monday with their various ailments while guard J.J. Barea, center Nikola Pekovic and Love did not. Neither Barea (thigh contusion) nor Pekovic (ankle bone spurs) accompanied the team Monday on its two-game road trip to Memphis and Charlotte. That leaves the Wolves without two starters and a top reserve — and with others playing injured — as they enter their final 16 games believing they need a four- or five-game winning streak to leapfrog Phoenix, Denver and Houston and reach a playoff spot.”

    Fat foot!

I can’t believe how fast Beasley has fallen out of the lineup. Last year he and Love were an awesome forward tandem. But I’m not the coach and don’t know the whole story. Maybe his defense is just horrible and Adelman doesn’t like it? he can score easily.

I think that he does not provide help D, he shoots inefficient long two’s out of the offense, and is a ball stopper. Has been injured for some time, and is suspected to be one of the biggest potheads of the team. Also suspected to be a bit of a knuckle-headed player. That might be enough to recommend playing Derrick Williams as 4 and Love as 5.

Hold up, he hurt is groin and back… won’t be trying that position again.

From what I’ve read, Beasley’s been in and out of the lineup due to injury issues with his foot. He definitely provides offense but is a high volume scorer and shoots too many long 2s inconsistently. He really should be bringing it more often to the rim for a higher percentage shot instead of settling for the jump shot (many of which are often contested) like he did in Miami. It’s also probably due to the defensive deficiencies that Adelman has him coming off the bench.

  • Beasley’s injuries ruined his contract season. But Tolliver and Webster have been good at sf position recently. Wes Johnson is a total bust. Derrick Williams is a undersized four, who right now looks like a poor man’s Beasley. Beasley seems like a good guy; always see him playing around with his kids or joking with his team mates. Certainly not a head case that most people think him to be.
