Report: Bulls Trying to Acquire Pau Gasol

Considering Dwight Howard‘s supposed lack of interest in joining Chicago, the Bulls are reportedly exploring ways to acquire Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol before Thursday’s trade deadline. ESPN has the details: “Sources say that the Lakers, however, have limited interest in the players Chicago would be offering, starting with Bulls forward Carlos Boozer. So the Bulls would have to recruit at least one more team to the discussions to have any shot at Gasol, sources said, with the Lakers known to be insistent on getting back at least one certifiable star if they consent to the trade the Spaniard. Sources say that the Lakers, furthermore, continue to talk to other teams about Gasol in advance. The Lakers’ longstanding preference, of course, is acquiring a top point guard if they agree to surrender Gasol. L.A. included the 7-footer in the December deal with New Orleans and Houston that would have landed Chris Paul with the Lakers, only for NBA commissioner David Stern — acting as the final decision-maker for the league-owned Hornets — to tell New Orleans’ basketball people to cancel the deal after all three teams agreed to terms. Gasol has been subjected to constant trade speculation ever since and recently acknowledged to ESPN.com that ‘there’s no guarantees’ he’ll be with the Lakers beyond the trading deadline despite recent assurances from Lakers management that no deal was imminent.”

    Lakers want Deng.

YEEESSS I hope we get rid of Boozer that’s all that matters.

  • sigmaman

As long as we don’t give up Taj Gibson or Deng

  • Andrew

If the lakers trade Gasol to the bulls they are gift-wrapping the title.

  • Mike Mihalow

    @Andrew
Not the first time for Gasol

Orange is prolly right. Lakers prolly want Deng, Watson, & Boozer for Gasol, MWP, & Blake. Or something along those lines, IF the deal were just between those two teams. Would be surprised it Milwuakee became part of this though.

  • MUBWAR

    Bulls management call the lakers
    bulls: we want gasol
    lakers: and you are offering?
    bulls: boozer…….hang up

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    Wouldnt*

  • bnets

    Dwight Howard to Nets soon

  • bull22

howard is either staying in orlando or going to nets. be glad when this saga is over. the current bulls team i think has earned another shot at beating heat.. if you look at the last 12 straight champions, all of them are a top 4 team so the bulls don’t need to be apologizing for their gaudy 35-9 record.
just need them to be healthy and let the chips fall where they may.

i get the feeling alot of these rumors are false but also purposely thrown out there. i wouldnt be suprised if a minor trade or 2 happens by thursday but none of the stuff thats being reported

Lakers need Deron Williams from Nets. Like I said before Chris Paul sold himself short by allowing himself to be a Clipper. Paul could have demanded a trade to Lakers. Now Paul is on the scrub Clippers and in two years he will leave them high and dry, once he realizes Blake skill set is not high. Howard is making a huge mistake by going to Nets, because this team will end up being the Magic 1.0. Howard is dumb as ____ if he does not want to go to LA. Howard and Kobe with a decent point guard is NBA Champions with Gasol. BOOK IT!!

ThiS hurts to admit..but if we give up Deng, we still have Butler and I believe in the kid. If they come knocking for Deng, it’ll be bittersweet to give him up. But it’ll be a 3 team deal if it does happen.

The Lakers can take Boozer as long as we get Gibson and SDeng as well. We can amesty Boozer and then go after a point guard.

  • Shem

I like this move, definitely puts them over the top. If they can maintain the team they have now and give away Boozer, one of either Gibson or Asik, and a draft pick (most likely through a three team trade) I think Mia vs. Chicago becomes a lot more interesting of a series.

  • Kilo

And Dwight wants to be a Laker the Magic just dont wanna trade him their. Brooklyn is going to be too cold.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

He doesn’t want to be a Laker at all.

  • Dungeon Family

and I don’t want him anywhere near a Laker jersey Big indecisive ass Dwight

If he want to be the man he should stay his ass in ORL

  • Ldub

@shem…I think if Gasol got traded to the Bulls, the Mia vs Chi would be in better favor for the Heat. Look at what Lebron did to Gasol in the LA/Mia matchup. Gasol, for whatever reason didnt like all the bumping and grinding (like R. Kelly) in the post. It took him out of his game. If Gasol, goes back to Gasoft, its gonna be a problem. Its clear he doesnt like being physical.

On the flip side, he is probably the best passing big in the game today. So to have him giving it to a cutting rose or gibson, or kicking it out to deng or korver could be trouble! Intriguing but prob not the best for the Bulls. Gonna need to beat the Heat with solid defense.

    NOOOOO, I don’t want Boozer’s garbage-a** in a Laker uniform.

  • RunNGun

Gasol > Boozer Great trade for Chicago if it happened; not likely to happen though…

  • robb

The Lakers can’t take this seriously. Kobe would get level 5 pissed. This is just stupid.

  • http://slamonline house

Get rid of Rip as well!

  • http://slamonline house

Honestly trading Rip is the only trade that makes sense, at least Booz can stay healthy and play good offense, which detracts from his defunct defense. other than that I wouldn’t like to see anyone else leave my Bulls.

  • Shem

@Ldub I saw LeBron fronting Gasol in the post. Regardless, Gasol is a better player and there’s no question about that. In a Chicago Miami series I really doubt LeBron would be on Gasol. I think Spoelstra would have him guarding Rose.

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Trade him for Deng, and one of Boozer’s eye brows..

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

    ^
Than Boozer wouldn’t have any eyebrows left.
