Mississippi St. Forward Renardo Sidney to Enter NBA Draft

Mississippi State forward Renardo Sidney, who once was a McDonald’s All-American but battled eligibility and discipline issues throughout his college career, has signed with an agent and will declare for the NBA Draft. The Washington Post (via the AP) has the details: “The 6-foot-10 junior from Jackson, Miss., averaged 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game over two seasons with the Bulldogs. He battled eligibility problems early in his career, and occasionally had discipline issues, including a highly-publicized fight with a teammate in the stands during a tournament in Hawaii. In a statement from the school, Sidney says he appreciates ‘Mississippi State giving me an opportunity to play,’ but wants to follow his ‘dream of playing in the NBA.’ Sidney averaged 14.2 points and 7.6 points during his sophomore season, but his production dipped as a junior. He averaged 9.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last year, helping the Bulldogs to a 21-12 record.”

Why would he even declare? His attitude and his numbers AND the deep draft all work against him…

Its sad the way his career is turnin out..jus a few years ago he was supposed to be the number 1 pick den the lottery den late first round..last year he coulda snuck in the 2nd round but now he prolly won’t get drafted..has all the tools to be good but a bad attitude is gonna hold him back and scare a lot of teams off

He had no choice but to declare, Mississippi St. obviously wasn’t working, he’s a junior, he can’t afford to transfer and sit a year and then play for some team willing to take a chance on him…Might as well get paid for being terrible. go overseas, cut your losses, 2nd round pick, something…
