Patty Mills Signed With the San Antonio Spurs

According to his agent, Patty Mills will be joining the Spurs very soon. Reports the Experss-News: “Patrick Mills, the former Portland Trail Blazer who last played in China during the NBA lockout, has signed a contract with the Spurs and could join the team within the week, pending the resolution of work visa issues. Mills, an Australian national who could be in line for immediate minutes backing up Tony Parker, is eager to resume his NBA career, his agent said. ‘It shouldn’t be too much longer,’ agent Aaron Goodwin said. ‘There is a deal in principle. He just has to get a visa.’ Mills, 23, averaged 5.1 points and 1.5 assists in limited minutes during his first two NBA seasons in Portland. He is also a member of the Australian national basketball team coached by Spurs assistant Brett Brown. [...] The Spurs’ point-guard needs increased in Wednesday’s win over Minnesota, when Parker left before halftime with a tight hamstring.”

Patty Mills sounds like the name of a cheerleader

How many open roster spots do they have? I heard that they were thinking of picking up Boris Diaw when the Bobcats finish up his contract buyout.

  • Mike Mihalow

Well Parker went out with an injury last night, so they don’t have any true point guards without him.

Spurs rely so much on foreign born players. It’s interesting.

I like this guy he did really well in the Olympics a few years back no one could keep him from getting to the rim.

  • Mariano

Folks are saying he’s going to be our 3rd string PG for now, though… Hope that it changes come play-off time so Neal can finally go back to his original position

Mills will be everything spurs are missing, it will be like Linsanity when he gets there… Pattycakesanity

I’m glad my fellow Aussie has been picked up by a great organisation…he is a good player.

He is a similar player to Parker this will help his career enormously, this is also good for the Aussie national team, Brett Brown who is also involved in a coaching role with the team can spend some quality time with his number 1 point guard. I expect him to flourish with the Spurs.

Mills doesn’t mind being the 3rd string PG on the Spurs, he’s just happy Irving didn’t decide to play for Australia so he can still start at the PG spot.

He’s very streaky, he’ll put up a few points with that midrange game, and a couple assists kicking the ball around to shooters. could have the occasional bigger game given the minutes.

Great news for us Aussies. I hate playing NBA2K12 Without being able to use Mills or Bogut lol. Kid got game. And with the spurs injury woes, and the fact that the Aussie coach is at San Antonio, I think he’ll fit in great . Hurry up Visa !!!
