Report: Multiple Teams Interested in Jamal Crawford

According to Hoopsworld, the Blazers’ front-office has been taking quite a few calls about Jamal Crawford: “The Portland Trail Blazers are enduring a trying season at 18-19 and changes could be on the horizon. One Blazer who is garnering a lot of interest in particular is shooting guard Jamal Crawford. [...] The Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves are pursuing him the strongest, but the Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks have also expressed interest. Crawford has a very reasonable contract that is paying him $5 million this year with a player option for the same amount next season. Sources also revealed that the Blazers are concerned that he will not exercise that option this summer and that they’ll lose him in free agency. His recent move into the starting lineup directly coincides with that fear. If a good enough offer comes along, the Blazers could take it to ensure they get something for Crawford rather than risking losing him this summer for nothing.”

    Wolves! Yes please. They cannot keep starting Wes Johnson…

  • RunNGun

    If I were the Wolves, I would aim higher for Nic Batum; wishful thinking. Hell, I’d do a swap of Wes Johnson for Dunleavy Jr.

    Crawford to the Pacers

    I really think the Bulls should be trying to work out a deal for Crawford. They need a guy that can spread the floor and make it so D-Rose doesn’t have to put forth a Herculean effort to get by the likes of the Heat in a 7 game series.

    Wolves should try to get Kevin Martin. Maybe offer Milicic, randolph and johnson.

    @SikhWitlt….um Rip Hamilton?

  • http://dodgers.com Joey E.

    lol so no one wants to sign him, but now teams want to trade for him?

  • fruizm

    Why do the Clippers want every player?

    @Sikh – Only reason I tune into Blazers games is to watch Crawford, and as a Bulls fan I think ‘would he be a fit?’ And the answer I’ve come up with is no. I think Thibs would literally murder him, and it would be a giant blow to the organization if their Head Coach is serving a 15-20 year bid.

  • MirChilly

    @CoolWhip.. as a fellow bulls fan, I understand your logic and I am in agreement, BUT i would trade Rip for him in a heartbeat! Will he do something dumb and careless, yes but he got heart and is an upgrade over Rip. They can keep Ronnie starting and bring him off the bench for added fire power. He is also a better defender than Rip at this stage of their careers… but then again thibbs might actually murder him mid game. Somewhere around the 3rd quarter for consecutive ill-advised 3′s

  • Shem

    Would love to see him on the Raptors, I could see Indiana or Minnesota making a move for him.

    @MirChilly – pffftthahaha nice
    Ya, I’m a fan of Crawford, I really am and I agree with all your points. Only ‘skill’ Rip is better than Crawford is playing team basketball.
    Hey, maybe I’m wrong, and Bulls nab Jamal, and dude meshes and they win next two championships. Odds are though, Thibs will need voicebox surgery from screaming at Crawford after one too many ill-advised 3s.

  • Dan

    Damn. You Bulls fans have already given up on Rip Hamilton?? The guy is just getting healthy, give him a chance..

  • beastin

    lakers should go for it blake, draftpick, trade exception, ebanks for crawford and felton

    @BLAHblah – I don’t think Rip is the deep threat they need. He gets his shots off of cuts on the baseline and in the paint, that doesn’t really finesse with D-Rose’s game, in my opinion. I think Jamal can create off the perimeter and that isn’t really at odds with Rose’s penetration.

    @CoolWhip – MirChilly makes some great points. I agree that Jamal takes some ill-advised shots and doesn’t always play under control but he would take the Bulls’ energy to an entirely new plateau. He would also make it impossible for teams to trap D-Rose up top with their 2. You’re right that he and Thibs wouldn’t exactly mesh, but I think the added firepower going up against the likes of a Miami would provide a benefit outweighing the potential costs. Right now they’re not equipped to beat them 4 times, in my opinion. They don’t have the dominating big man to punish them inside and the combo of Battier/D-Wade/LBJ will likely grind D-Rose down over the course of a 7 game series. He needs help.

    crawford doesn’t play enough defense for him to really fit into thibs system IMO

  • SikhWitIt

    Crawford gets more steals than both Rip and Deng. Dude is pretty good at playing the passing lanes. But you’re right, he’s not the physical on-ball defender that would flourish in Thib’s high pressure schemes. Bulls should think about this, I’ve been saying it since last summer.
