Report: OKC Thunder ‘Very Close’ to Deal With Derek Fisher

Derek Fisher is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with the Thunder, and Kevin Durant says that he’d welcome the veteran guard with open arms. From ESPN: “Derek Fisher is in advanced negotiations with the Oklahoma City Thunder to sign with the Western Conference leaders after clearing waivers, according to sources close to the situation. Fisher is scheduled to clear waivers at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday. One source with knowledge of the talks said that Fisher is ‘very close’ to committing to sign with the Thunder once he becomes a free agent. [...] Sources said the Heat have made a strong recruitment effort to sign Fisher, but the Thunder have more financial flexibility to sign him and more of a role to offer after the loss of backup point guard Eric Maynor in early January to a season-ending knee injury. There also is a feeling among some rival teams that Fisher prefers to stay in the West, where he has played his entire career. Another advantage for the Thunder, sources said, is Fisher’s agent, Rob Pelinka, just signed Thunder star Kevin Durant. Pelinka also represents Thunder swingman James Harden. If the deal goes through, as expected, Fisher potentially will face the Lakers twice during the regular season at Staples Center (March 29 and April 22) before the playoffs.”

NOOO, GO bak 2 DA LAKARS!

  • Buujangles

@Gregor, he can’t sign with the lakers as he was traded and waived, the new CBA dictates that.

  • riggs

as a fan of russell, hopefully he can show westbrook some true point guard skills.

  • T-Money

Im worried that Scotty Brooks will play him 20+ mins.

@riggs WHen has Derek Fisher ever been a true point guard?

  • AD

is it westbrook’s fault when okc loses?

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

I knew Fish would go to OKC.

  • Mike From Spain

Fish in OKC is a great veteran leadership addition. I like the move.

I think we have enough short guys on our team, what we really need is a big presence under the goal, someone who can rebound and defend.

Why would anyone want to sign him? He has proven that he has turned into a crybaby unless he gets what he wants. All he has been doing is pouting since the Lakers traded him and then he didn’t even honor the trade. Anyone that does that loses respect from me and should lose it from others as well. Go back to your blanky and suck your thumb Fisher!

Darlene, what do you mean we need a big presence under the goal? Ibaka and Perkins ain’t enough for you? Not mentioning that Durant is also huge. Some teams dont even have a big guy. That’s asking too much – and I am an OKC fan.

  • AD

^^ he means a big man who can score,,, durant is a jump shooter and ibaka is far from consistent.

  • Darlene

Ibaka is a great player, but think we got robbed with Perkins. I mean we need a Blake Griffin or a Dwight Howard under the rim.

  • cardel

In other words, Darlene wants Team USA to play for OKC.

  • T-Money

What OKC should have done is hold on toi Chandler
