Rudy Fernandez to Have Season-Ending Back Surgery


The Denver Nuggets announced that Fernandez’s season is over, and that Rudy will undergo surgery on his lower back. From the Denver Post: “He has missed 12 games this year because of the lower back strain. A date for the procedure has not been set. The injury flared up in Monday’s game against Dallas. Fernandez, 26, joined the Nuggets in a Dec. 13 trade, and he has played 31 games. He has averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.03 steals in 22.9 minutes. Fernandez also is a member of Spain’s national team, which has qualified for the 2012 London Games that begin in late July. Spain lost to Team USA in the gold-medal game of the 2008 Olympics, and he is was on the team in points and assists. He also played in the 2004 Games.”
