Amar’e Stoudemire Suffered a Lacerated Left Hand from Punching a Fire Extinguisher


In addition to falling down a hole they seemingly can’t climb out of against the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks may have to try and salvage whatever may be left of their quickly dying season without the services of one Amar’e Stoudemire. An angry STAT inexplicably (and reportedly) punched a fire extinguisher tonight following the Knicks’ Game 2 loss in Miami, and he suffered a lacerated left hand. Per the NY Daily News‘ Frank Isola: “It is confirmed. Amar’e suffered a lacerated hand punching something after the game … Knicks confirm that Amar’e suffered a left hand laceration. Team will not reveal details or open locker room. Complete chaos … There is blood all over the carpet in the locker room … Knicks announce no practice for Tuesday. Hopefully, the CSI Miami investigation will be completed by then … Amar’e hand heavily taped with arm in a sling. Can’t imagine he plays again.”

    Seriously! I never knew STAT even had a left hand. Very supid move by Amare he makes what 20mil a season? And can’t resist punching a fire extinguisher after a loss, he should really have some perspective after being in Africa and seeing how some people live.

    Dagger, the Knicks made the postseason last year. And also, it’s going to be really hard to move Amar’e because his contract is so huge. He’s still got, what, $60 million and 3 years remaining? Who would take on that sort of contract?

    The Bobcats? The team that gave away Gerald Wallace? The team that gave away Tyson Chandler? Isn’t their whole MO shedding salary at all costs? THAT is the kind of team who would take on a guy (with a history of injury) with 3 years and $60 million left on his contract? No way………………. actually… the way they’ve been running things in Charlotte, I guess it makes perfect sense. Maybe they’ll trade for Joe Johnson too?

    A kid in my high school kicked the wall in the locker room and broke his foot (out for the season) then in baseball he swung and the ball hit is hand and broke his finger and was (out for the year)…not the most coordinated.

    @orange – I was excited for game 3 until my wife reminded me that we’re attending an art gallery opening tomorrow night. I can’t even be mad because I agreed to go when D’Antoni was coaching that horrific losing streak and I assumed Knicks would miss the playoffs. Curse me for my lack of faith.
