Amar’e Stoudemire Suffered a Lacerated Left Hand from Punching a Fire Extinguisher

In addition to falling down a hole they seemingly can’t climb out of against the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks may have to try and salvage whatever may be left of their quickly dying season without the services of one Amar’e Stoudemire. An angry STAT inexplicably (and reportedly) punched a fire extinguisher tonight following the Knicks’ Game 2 loss in Miami, and he suffered a lacerated left hand. Per the NY Daily News‘ Frank Isola: “It is confirmed. Amar’e suffered a lacerated hand punching something after the game … Knicks confirm that Amar’e suffered a left hand laceration. Team will not reveal details or open locker room. Complete chaos … There is blood all over the carpet in the locker room … Knicks announce no practice for Tuesday. Hopefully, the CSI Miami investigation will be completed by then … Amar’e hand heavily taped with arm in a sling. Can’t imagine he plays again.”

  • Bravo

  • Bravo

He will def b out for a while depending how bad it was. I have to wear a splint for a month and a half with no wrist movement at all. It’s tough

  • Bravo

But sad to hear this happen. Seems like every game someone is getting hurt

    fire extinguisher fetish

  • robb

I hit the rearview mirror of my car years ago after I couldn’t close a deal. I severed a tendon. One of the stupidest things I’ve ever done.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

Amar’e was jealous of the fire extinguisher’s ability to stop the Heat.

  • Do Work

i stopped punching things out of anger when i was about 16 i think….i decided it was time to grow up

  • Bravo

@robb your tendon ain’t the same right?

  • http://slamonline.com Jones

Amare misunderstood when Coach Woodson told him to hit the glass more.

    *crash boom baa*
    That was for Anton :-)

  • http://ZOGSCOM ZOGS

If Hung Chow was still playing, him and Melo, side by side, they would F*CK Miami up!

    LOL @ Anton

  • Rnz

How stupid is this guy? I understand the need to vent by punching stuff, but a f**in fire extinguisher????? …. You cant find towels, punching bags??…what a kid..this stupid act hurts the team also

  • robb

    @Bravo nope, I can’t clench my fist

  • alphabeta

Amare saw Lin karate chop a stack of bricks earlier and was trying to out do him…..guess it didn’t work. On second thought, his ugly cornrows are so tight that its impeding blood flow to his head, so he can’t think correctly. Whatever, this series is a sweep. Get out the brooms.

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca niQ

Well he probably read the instructions: Break in case of emergency… lol

  • guahan

    LMAO @ Anton

  • bike

    Lol @ Bryant Bynum gasol

  • Jer Boi

Anton FTW. I cannot sop laughing

  • Moxabanshi

the fire extinguisher was probably the only way to beat the Heat

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

I blame the compressed season for this latest injury. Damn you, David Stern!

  • D12FSU

weren’t the knicks playing better without Amare anyways

  • Michelle

How dumb can you be? Seriously?

    ANTO WINS! !!

  • underdog

It’s something you would expect form a rookie, not from a vet…

  • BBaller

    What A’Moron

  • Phil the thrill

Amare, melo and woodson need to go. This team is not a team and is mixed up. Dumb, dinner and dumbest!

  • Yesse

Lol, Antons comment made my day.

  • http://leipzig-eagles.de/ Speedy

I think you can’t make that judgement, Phil the Thrill, until everybody is healthy on the knicks roster and the team played a season under Woodson.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

In his defense, most of his teammates are under the impression that they are on fire.

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

    @Anton – Yep.

  • L Dribble

Weren’t the Knicks actually better when STAT was out for a few games and Melo went off? “Anthony’s averaged 31 points over the last 12 games on better than 50 percent shooting.”

Anton managed to be funny without resorting to racist Jeremy Lin jokes like some of these other guys.

    Who throws a shoe, really?

Stoudemire deserves a one way ticket to palookaville.

  • Myung

Amar’e, Ron World Peace, and Rajon Rondo. Who’s going to join them on the Dummy Mt. Rushmore? There’s room for one more.

  • Jeff

I never post on this site, but ANTON, that sh*t was so perfect!

Recap of last two REAL SEASONS for the Knicks:

    2011 Playoffs 1st round
Billups hurts knee towards end of game one, and lost for the series. Stoudemire hurts his back during pregame warmups for game 2 at Boston while attempting a dunk, and he was basically lost for that series.

    2012 Playoffs 1st round
Shump tears ACL and lateral meniscus in game 1. Stoudemire lacertates left hand following the game 2 by getting into a fight with a glass door housing for a fire extinguisher.

Stoudemire needs to go this off-season. See if the Bobcats will take him. lol

  • P

Lol @ Anton. That was great! I sliced my hand open doing DIY. A piece of plastic sheared off in my hand and opened up my right index. Severed the nerve, the arteries, damaged the ligament, opened up all the way down to my thumb. Been 18 months and I’m only just starting to ball like I was. Its not the same, no feeling in half my hand, problems with my grip and my dexterity. Can be a real bad injury

  • Kadavour

this incident doesn’t contribute much to my discontent with him. bonehead move, but whatever. What irks me is that he rebounds like a SF.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Dagger

This is probably the most disgraceful game-related act committed by an NBA “superstar” that I can remember. Amare’s immaturity probably cost his team any chance of pushing the Heat in the franchise’s first playoff appearance in years. The Knicks need to find a way to trade him. Melo is better at PF most games anyway.

  • Joe

Seriously! I never knew STAT even had a left hand. Very supid move by Amare he makes what 20mil a season? And can’t resist punching a fire extinguisher after a loss, he should really have some perspective after being in Africa and seeing how some people live.

  • King David

  • Myung

Dagger, the Knicks made the postseason last year. And also, it’s going to be really hard to move Amar’e because his contract is so huge. He’s still got, what, $60 million and 3 years remaining? Who would take on that sort of contract?

  • DreDay

Idiot!! Hss body language during the whole game said he’s a sore loser. Crying after EVERY call or NONCall. Anybody see Melo do that wiggle on the ground when he got knocked down shooting the 3 in front of the Knicks bench? *TEARS*

@Myung: whatever small market team wants a big name. The bobcats would be salivating at taking him to be honest.

  • http://www.fullc0urtpress.com KHOLIDAY

Mike Woodson probably told Amare he needs to hit the glass! He’s just tryna be a team player and do what he is told!

  • Myung

The Bobcats? The team that gave away Gerald Wallace? The team that gave away Tyson Chandler? Isn’t their whole MO shedding salary at all costs? THAT is the kind of team who would take on a guy (with a history of injury) with 3 years and $60 million left on his contract? No way………………. actually… the way they’ve been running things in Charlotte, I guess it makes perfect sense. Maybe they’ll trade for Joe Johnson too?

  • MikeC.

@Orange – I’m going to be furiously drinking alone under the stairs in my basement Thurs night. I’m interested in what other Knick fans have planned.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Dagger

Myung: you’re right; trading him will be tough. Injury-prone, problematic attitude, huge contract. But I think the Knicks have to try.

  • @boweezy24

Nash To The Knicks Next Season.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

@Dagger; the Bobcats are still an NBA organization. Anything is possible.

  • bike

So far, the leading candidates for the All Dumb A*s Team are Rondo, MWP, and Amare.

  • startown

A kid in my high school kicked the wall in the locker room and broke his foot (out for the season) then in baseball he swung and the ball hit is hand and broke his finger and was (out for the year)…not the most coordinated.

@MikeC I feel your frustration man. The first two games of the series have been a nightmare. HOWEVER, I’m actually excited about game 3. Tough times reveal character.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

^ cosign Tarzan. Anton, where have you been? You used to provide us with thread dominating humor daily….

  • MikeC.

@orange – I was excited for game 3 until my wife reminded me that we’re attending an art gallery opening tomorrow night. I can’t even be mad because I agreed to go when D’Antoni was coaching that horrific losing streak and I assumed Knicks would miss the playoffs. Curse me for my lack of faith.

  • http://hotmail.com GBtha G

Now what the hell did that fire extinguisher have to do with Knicks loss?? amare’s just a bastard.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

Life y’know? I’m retiring if the Heat win this year.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

I feel you. I think if you do retire, you should come back like 45, and then put back on that 23. Just don’t come back as an owner.

Have fun with the wife MikeC! Gotta make her happy.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

    Haha believe that.
