Brook Lopez Officially Done For Season

With the Nets being well out of the Playoff race, cuffing Brook Lopez for the remainder of the season seems logical. On the downside, this won’t help Lopez’s value if the Nets look to trade him this offseason. From the Star Ledger: “The Nets have nine games remaining and Brook Lopez will not play in any of them. Nets GM Billy King announced Friday night, before the Nets’ 110-98 victory over the Washington Wizards at Prudential Center, that Lopez’s 2011-12 season is over. ‘Brook will not play the rest of this year,’ King said of Lopez, who finishes the season with five games played, and a scoring average of 19.2. ‘He’s healing nicely, but with (nine) games to go, and him being a (restricted) free agent and looking at the future, we decided to shut him down for the rest of the year.’ King said the decision — made in concert with Lopez’s agent, Arn Tellem, with whom King visited when the team was in Los Angeles earlier this week — seemed logical given the Nets’ position in the standings.”
