Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire Want Knicks to Retain Coach Mike Woodson

Forget the other big names available on the coaches’ market, Mike Woodson has the public support of his two main stars on the Knicks. Per Newsday: “Carmelo Anthony wants Mike Woodson to be his coach next season. Anthony, the Knicks’ biggest star and one of their most influential players, effusively praised Woodson after practice Wednesday. Since becoming interim coach after Mike D’Antoni resigned March 14, Woodson has guided the Knicks to a 16-6 record and a playoff berth. ‘I would love to see him around here past this year,’ Anthony said. ‘Just to see what he’s brought to our team, the confidence that he’s instilled into everybody, the belief that he has in everybody. Just his coaching style, the way he’s coached, kind of a hard-nosed coach. Holds everybody accountable out there, saying that everybody is responsible for their own actions. I would love to see him back here.’ When asked if he would be willing to go to management and tell them what he thinks, Anthony said: ‘I’m pretty sure they’re hearing me right now. Like I said, I would love to see him around here … ‘ Another franchise cornerstone, Amar’e Stoudemire, supports Woodson coming back, too. ;Coach Woodson has done a great job for us,’ Stoudemire said. ‘He’s done a phenomenal, phenomenal job. I love his attitude. I love his coaching style. It would be nice.'”
