Contest: Win a Pair of Reebok Zig Encore Danilo Gallinari PEs

Leave a comment, win some kicks.

It’s been a tumultuous two seasons for the Denver Nuggets. First there was the Melodrama; then there was the big trade that ended it; then there was the first-round Playoff loss; then there was this year’s hot start, which was almost immediately followed by a rash of injuries and a precipitous fall in the Western Conference standings. And with Denver trying its best to hold on to its current one-game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the final spot in the Western Conference postseason race, we thought we’d reward a few Nuggets fans for their loyalty.

How?

Our friends at Reebok have given us four pairs of the Zig Encore Danilo Gallinari PEs (pictured above)—in Gallo’s size—which we’re giving away, right here.

All you have to do is tell us in the comments section of this post (please provide your real email address when commenting, so we can contact the winners properly) who your all-time favorite Denver Nugget is, and why. It’s that simple.

The winners will be selected and contacted later this week.

Good luck!

My favorite Denver Nugget of all-time is the “Bird-Man” Chris Anderson. This is because of the energy he brings to every play of every game. Whether he plays 5 minutes or 40 minutes, he is always going to give it 100%. GO NUGGETS!!

  • Brandon

Those shoes look nice..even better on my feet though.

My favorite Nugget of all time is Birdman Andersen. Because I’m young and his story is incredible. And his tattoos.

All time favorite Nugget? Marcus Camby! When he played for a team that mainly focused on offense, Camby provided the nightly defense that actually kept the team in check. He had ridiculous block every night, could rebound with the best of them, and was an underrated passer for a big man.

  • Jack Coates

Alex English has to be the best because he led the Nuggets to 9 straight playoff appearances, is the all time scorer in denver’s history, and is one of the most prolific scorers in history. Plus, he was put into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997!

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

Doesn’t hurt that he also won Defensive Player of the Year in the 06-07 season!

  • Jason Staley

My all time favorite Denver Nugget, even though he was only there four years, is Nick Van Exel. He had some amazing years in Denver and I feel he is one of the most underrated guards of all time. He could score with the best of them and his court vision was ridiculous.

  • http://slamonline.com KJ

Definitely David Thompson. He is the most underrated superstar in the past 40 years. One of the most prolific scorers in the late 70′s/early 80′s. He was the Jordan before Jordan. He competed against Doctor J as the most polarizing basketball star before he physical issues. He was a crowd pleaser, brought people off their seats and gave a new breath to basketball post NBA/ABA merger. One of my favorite Nuggets and players in general.

  • Ryan Bound

Chauncey Billups – he’s Denver through and through..
Loyalty is something rarely seen in today’s game but if it was down to Billups, I bet he would never have left.
Every time I saw him play in a different jersey, I imagined it was Denver and I bet he did too.

  • Brock

my favorite Nugget is probably Dikembe Mutombo because he did such an amazing job on the court blocking shots and grabbing the boards at will. He also did an amazing job on and off the courts doing lots of humanitarian work and just being one of the few sports people that you could truly look up to. Much props to Dikembe Mutombo.

  • Mujeeb Ahmed

My favorite Nugget of all time is Chauncey Billups. Even though he was only in Denver for a few seasons, he fit perfectly in Denver with a great basketball mind like George Karl. Chauncey always brought his A game & ALWAYS hit those BIG shots when needed…That’s why my favorite Nuggest of all time, is Mr. Big Shot..Chauncey Billups!

  • Curtis

My all time favorite Nugget is coach George Karl. I’m a Sonics fan so I may be partial to Karl since he coached in Seattle but he has done great things in Denver to turn around the organization. If I had to choose a player, it would be Alex English because he is a hall of famer and who I think of when you mention the Nuggets.

  • Chris Charleston

When you think Denver Nuggets, you think..tough,defense,strong. One player defines that in Nuggets history more and any other one. MARCUS CAMBY. We’re talking about a guy who led the NBA in blocks and BPG 3 times each with Denver. 8th all time in BPG in NBA HISTORY!!! 4 time nba all defense team! I mean what other nugget got you that! DPOY. HANDS DOWN! Has to be The Camby Man! Go Nuggets!

  • Amin

Dikembe ” Finger Waggle” Mutombo. All-star as a rookie. First year numbers over 16 points, 12 boards and 3! blocks per game. There will never be another guy who has done more on and off the court of basketball!

  • Saku 39

Mutombo. I’m a Georgetown fan so I followed his career in Denver. I collected whatever basketball cards I could find, had his jersey, and had a t-shirt that listed his full name on the back (Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo).

  • http://urban-transition.com Trey Williams

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf is the greatest Nugget of all time. Lead the lead in free throw shooting in two of his seasons. Was always a solid guard in his short career. Also came one short short of the all-time free throw percentage record in a single season, losing to Calvin Murphy I believe. One of the most solid guards of his time.

  • Michael P.

Hands down the best Nugget is “The Skywalker”. For goodness sake he presented Michael Jordan for inductioninto the Hall of Fame. For those who are old enough to remeber or fancy themselves as basketball connoisseurs, he was simply amazing. He was like the west coast Dr. J. He may not have completely dominated the Franchises record books but undoubtedly he did work! The fro the socks the rim rockers, the sheer ability to get to the basket, simply amazing!

  • fraser

Are you kidding me…! Dikembe Mutombo rains over all others no question. When Mutombo and Hakeem “the dream” Olajuwon went at it back in the day. The two best centers of their time one offensive specialist and one a defensive machine!

  • Jer Boi

My all Time favorite Nugget has to be Carmelo Anthony. He isn’t there anymore, and I know he left a bad taste in some fans mouth, but he did a lot for the Nuggets. They never missed the playoffs after he was drafted, got the Nuggets to the Conference Finals once and could have won if not for some mistakes by other down the stretch. He gave the Nuggets a winning mentality coming to the NBA after winning a National Title. He changed the Nuggets around, and even when he left the Nuggets got 5 solid players back including Gallo, who can eventually be that star Denver needs. This Nuggets team was good while he was here and now they’re set for the future, and it’s largely in part to Carmelo.

My Favorite Nugget Of All Time Is Carmelo Anthony. Hes The Player You Would Go To For Some Clutch Shots. He Is Unique. :)

I’d like to take a moment to nominate Bison Dele, Rodney Rogers, Bryant Stith, Priest Lauderdale and Anthony Goldwire. Ok, back to your regularly scheduled commenting.

  • Flud

Fat Lever. Great game to go with a great name.

  • Mikey Aulakh

Dikembe Mutombo because he really brought defense to the nugget, he really gave the nuggets the defensive mind set that they needed plus brought the finger wag to the nba which some big men today try and swagger jack from him but they just can’t do it like Dikembe

  • Ryan.T

I would have to say Earl Boykins was my favorite Nugget of all time. He’s actually one of my favorite players of all time. He represents for all the little guys world wide. To see him succeed on the biggest stage of basketball is awesome. I used to get so excited when he entered the game, he was a game changer.. Not only with his speed, but he was a really good scorer for his size as well. I watched in amazement as he’d shoot fade away jumpers over taller defenders. His success on the hardwood is also a testament to the hard work he put in, off the court. We’re talking about the lightest & shortest guy in the league, benching more than 300 lbs. Which made him the strongest player in the league, Pound for Pound. And to see him team with Allen Iverson those last few weeks before he was traded was some of the funnest basketball to watch at that time. They were both too fast and explosive & seemingly scored at will…

    what? danilo wears adidas now…

  • jpm34

Alex English. Those Nuggets teams with English, Kiki V. and Walt Davis running Doug Moe’s break neck tempo game was true blast to watch. Mutombos Nug’s beating the top seed Sonics was incredible too.

  • grandmama

my all time favorite nugget would be earl smith the III cuz his mind is absurd…explosive, jumpy as a cat with him entertainment was never whack :D

  • Maxwell Machcinski

Who is my favorite Nugget of all-time? I’d have to say Earl Smith III (AKA J.R. Smith). I know he was only a Nugget for roughly 5 seasons but he brought so much excitement to the team. This guy earned the nickname “instant offense” for being such an explosive player off the bench. He is arguably both a top 5 dunker and top 5 three point shooter in the league. Did you know that he has made at least 7 three pointers in a game 15 times in his career? Yes i know, I keep track of that stuff lol. And almost all of those games occured when he was a Nugget. The guy is a flat out scorer. I loved watchin him in the powder blue as he would convert crazy dunks night after night. Such as that crazy 360 alley oop vs. Minnesota or that dunk on Gary Neal of the Spurs. This guy definitely was my favorite Nugget.

  • Lukas U.

My favorite Nugget of all time is Andre Miller. I think his game is way too underrated. He is one of the best passers and his alley-oop passes are probably the best in the league. He also has a really great midrange game and I love his style of playing the game.

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

It has to be Allen Iverson, even if it was a short stint. The last year he was relevant, and the year I could turn to my friends and say “i told you so” when he coexisted beautifully with another superstar for the first time in his career. A shame it didn’t continue.

  • http://N/A J DOGG

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (Chris Jackson). Not a popular pick becuase of the national Anthem depacle, I know. But along with Shaq at LSU, then Dikembe in Denver, the man could have had it all. We all can make dumb/stupid mistakes and Mahmoud reminds me that we can still make good choices and do something great despite our past. In 93/24 he went 219-229 from the line for a 95.6 percentage! Now that’s great!

  • Ryan

    Kiki Vandeweghe anyone?

  • Ryan Dame

Favorite nugget of all time is “sky walker” aka David Thompson. Not only one of the best nuggets of all time but one of the best players in all of the nba and a great role model. A lot of today’s star players could benefit from taking a page out of his book……Lebron and Dwight cough cough

    anthony goldwire, that’s digging deep

    vincent yarbrough whaaaat

  • Damion Magnuson

It used to be Melo until he moved but now its gotta be Arron Afflalo, I’ve kept an eye on him since he hit that game winner against Alabama, and brought UCLA to the final four. he’s definitely got some more developing to do. but he’s a future all-star for sure!

LaPhonso Ellis. First because his jumper was absolutely beautiful. Second because that dude played hard every minute he was on the court. Third because he was an underrated athlete, would dunk on people and just stair them down. And Lastly, because of the monster block you can see by clicking my name. I mean, that block may be one of the top 5 ever. It’s absolutely amazing, I think of it every time I see a big block at the rim. LaPhonso just caught a dunk! Oh my. Even if I don’t win, everyone who reads this comment should watch that block.

Robert Pack. Remember that run against the Sonics in 94 when he crammed one down on Shawn Kemp, slaying the greent giant? That play officially swung the momentum the Nuggets way, carrying them to #1 vs. #8 seed upset. I’ve been a fan of him since, like now I’m a fan of Eric Bledsoe. Who spends time with Bled every day working on his game? Clippers Assistant Coach Robert Pack.

  • 6Goat

Favourite Nugget of all time is Antonio McDyess. Had his best years as a Nugget and played with so much power. He dunked so hard and was so smooth (Kemp-esque). Loved the years with Dice, VanExel, Kevin Willis and James Posey, thought they were the team of the future (Raef LaFrentz was there too). Wish they would have stayed together.

  • boweezy24

Just Pick Me For The Winner :) I Need Some Kicks. Haa!

  • Khadar

My all time favorite nugget player is galinari, because hes from europe like i am.

  • Nick

My all time favourite Denver Nugget? EASY!

    NICK VAN EXEL!

First off, he got my same name and not many good players who played in the NBA were named Nick. Gotta love and root someone who plays in the L with ur same name, even if he sucks! I’m from Italy and i grew up with that guy! I remember myself wakin up in the morning at 3 am to see the Nuggets on TV and rooting for Nick the Quick. Those 4 years in Colorado were such great years for him, especially that 2001 season. He might not have been one of the greatest to ever wear a Nuggets shirt but damn, he knew how to step into that court and he definitely knew how to excite me everytime. Definitely my pick!

PS: Being from Italy u should know Gallo is my hero. Just saying.
