Contest: Win a Pair of Reebok Zig Encore Danilo Gallinari PEs

Leave a comment, win some kicks.

It’s been a tumultuous two seasons for the Denver Nuggets. First there was the Melodrama; then there was the big trade that ended it; then there was the first-round Playoff loss; then there was this year’s hot start, which was almost immediately followed by a rash of injuries and a precipitous fall in the Western Conference standings. And with Denver trying its best to hold on to its current one-game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the final spot in the Western Conference postseason race, we thought we’d reward a few Nuggets fans for their loyalty.

How?

Our friends at Reebok have given us four pairs of the Zig Encore Danilo Gallinari PEs (pictured above)—in Gallo’s size—which we’re giving away, right here.

All you have to do is tell us in the comments section of this post (please provide your real email address when commenting, so we can contact the winners properly) who your all-time favorite Denver Nugget is, and why. It’s that simple.

The winners will be selected and contacted later this week.

Good luck!

ALL about Andre Miller. No non sense point guard who get’s the job done. H averaged high assist totals and would make the timely j. He is also one of the most durable players in league history. Night in night out he does his job.

My favorite Nuggets player of all time is Alex English. I am too young to actually see him play but I have watched a ton of highlights of him on Youtube and ESPN Classic. He has an insanely smooth jump shoot and it always looked like it was going to go in. He was a scoring machine, I mean the guy was the all time leader in points during the 80′s. I can’t imagine playing now I think he would dominate like he did back in the day.

my fave nugget will probably be allen iverson because his face is in the background of the picture, he is a lifetime endorser of reebok, i love reeboks for life and i want to win that pair of free shoes. reebok for life. reebok better than nike. reebok better than adidas…….now gimme that pair of kicks.

  • SnapKickkz

Reebok is awesome has a lot of good palyers

  • al jordan

My favorite Denver Nugget player of all time would have to be Chauncey Billups. There was nothing like when he was traded from the pistons for Iverson, to the Nuggets. He got so much love.

But, on the court, he took a Detroit Pistons team who won the championship, then lost to the spurs in the championship.. then lost in the conference finals three times.. got traded, and kept getting to the end.. he took the Denver Nuggets to the western conference finals. He is such a leader.

I know he is hurt right now, but even on the sidelines, he’s a leader on the Clippers. I wish he could have ended his career as a Nugget.

  • Kenny

My favorite Denver Nugget has to be the knucklehead – JR Smith. It doesn’t matter that he has done some dumb things in his career. On any given night, you just didn’t know if he was going to go off or play like trash. That’s why I loved him, he gave you suspense. You would watch and at the end of the game, he would have had 30 points or 0 points, while playing 3 minutes. He was inconsistent but we all knew he had all the talent in the world. If he was able to get rid of that personality, he could’ve been the superstar for the Nuggets. It never happened and now he’s on the Knicks. Good luck to him on the Knicks however.

  • Todd

Not the best Nugget ever or the most memorable but my all time fav…Darvin Ham…97 dunk contest nuff said. The man completed all of his first round dunks and all on the first attempt (wow what a novel concept), but then gets robbed and doesnt go on. travesty. Darvin most def went Ham that night.

  • jpm34

Raef LaFrentz, just cuz he was a former Jayhawk. Defensive monster.

  • DaniloGallinari’s#1Fan

My favorite Nugget of all time is Danilo Gallinari. Gallinari’s shot is redonkulous and I have a chance to win a pair of his shoes. Go Gallinari!

  • LTU

My “fave nugget” in DENVER of all time – the Lithuanian national pride – Sarunas Marciulionis, the first player stepped on the courts of NBA from the former Soviet Union (USSR). Although that was his last season in NBA (96-97) and not the greatest numbers in all the categories – he is to be remembered for his work ethic, a passion on the court, slashes to the rack and unselfish play. Of course, he shined through at GSW and later with SAC years before, but still that season with DEN he contributed 110% and was productive for the team night in and night out. A great player, ranked among 50 FIBAs all time greatest, the Olympic gold and bronze (twice) medalist, Eurobasket MVP (1995)and etc., etc., who was fun to watch on the courts all over the world’s biggest competitions. Love to death.

He was already a first ballot Hall of Famer when arrived in the winter of 2006, I was hyped. But I found out truly just how good he is when I saw him play for my Nuggets every night for 2 seasons,32 years old but blazing quick, diving for loose balls and busting his ass on every play, he was still unguardable. His career didn’t finish the way he and his fans wanted to, his last dominant season was for my Nuggets…true fans know how great he was but some have forgot. On a dysfunctional, “shoot first” Nuggets team he stood out his passion, his will to win, his play till the buzzer attitude is the reason I will never forget him and cant say a bad thing about Reebok’s main man one of the greatest ever Allen Iverson!

Easy? Carmelo Anthony. Straight out of Syracuse a scoring machine, a superstar who gave us hope, who gave us a reason to buy a Nuggets jersey he took us to the playoffs right away and did so for many years. Yeah things didn’t work out here and he left us but he was a once in a lifetime player who could take the game over, he brought excitement to the city and I miss him. Yes, we do have a TEAM now but we don’t have a franchise player, and Melo was a franchise player who in the right situation could be a championship player. I don’t know when we will have a star like him who averages 25 PPG as a Nugget, gives us game winners, 50 point games and the hope that we could beat any team on any night. I still have his first ever SLAM cover framed I hope he wins a title in New York.

  • Nathaniel Dedman

My favourite nugget of all time is chauncey billups, now i know he hardly spent any time in denver but he is the only denver nugget to have won the NBA sportsmanship award, and thats what basketball is about. Forget the max contracts, shoe deals, endorsements and glits and glam, the game was designed to be fun, it was designed to be pure and bring people together and sportmanship in my opinion is one of the, if not the best quality to have!

TCrook@Parksideca.org I was going to go with one of my fav high flyers DT and his scissor dunks et al but then I decided to go with my complete favorite Golden Nugget: Alex English!! Where do I start? Hmmm, the smooth yet awkward jumper, the unorthodox but virtually unstoppable drives to the bucket. Perhaps the crazy FT’s? He was scarily consistent and had a 26 ppg as a Nugget during his decade long tenure there. In 10 of his 11 seasons with the Nuggets (1979-90), English averaged better than 21 points per game. In eight of those 11 years, he scored more than 25 points per game. He got buckets during a time when you could get slayed going to the hole and he lead the L in scoring one year w/ 28 or 29 a game. I believe he still ranks in the top 10 on the NBA’s all time scoring list. Instead of bore you w/ more outstanding hoop talk and all star births I’ll let you know that even though he was soft spoken and a model citizen he was a major influence on his fellow league players. (Dude got the ASG players to give up their cash for a charity on year. lol) My man has published 2 poetry books and was in a movie way before it became popular to do so. (Amazing Grace and Chuck) PEACE my Family

  • BostonBaller

All due respect to a few players I really liked: Dan Is, Kiki V & Marcus C. Hey young blood Naman Posted: Apr.11 at 10:52 pm…Youtube doesn’t scratch the surface of his game. There were some tough ballers during his time and only because the 80′s had so many LEGIT all stars did he not make 1st team All NBA every year. ASG’s yes…HOF yes…

  • BostonBaller

What do you wear with these? lol. If I were to walk into school with these on, my students & players would fall out then ask if they could have them. lol.

  • Dingo Rob

Let me tell you about a guy you may never heard of…one goofy looking white guy and looked like someone you might see in a pub rather than the hard court. He accumulated over 27,000 points in his combined ABA and NBA career, trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Julius Erving upon his retirement. He currently ranks #9 on the all time combined ABA/NBA. He represented Nuggets in an All Star game in the 70s and averaged over 20 points per game most of his career as a Nugget. He also had a stint coaching the Nuggets twice and led them in the playoffs when he coached one of the biggest upsets in NBA playoff history when the 8 seed took out top seed Sonics, who had a couple of handy players back then. This is the early 90s the same time he was inducted into the HOF..Not this relates to Nuggets But worth a mention he also averaged 25 plus playing for Kentucky and Im sure hat is still the record…oh and was GM for the Nuggets and won a citizen award…all round winner.

    His name is Dan Issel

  • hugo

Dikembe Mutombo, hands down. Brilliantly anchored the defense for a very good playoff team that resulted in one of the greatest nba first-round upsets, truly played the game the right way, signatured the not-in-my-house finger waving (no techs), has a baritone that could have made him mad cash in the cartoon industry, selflessly engages in a whole lot of ‘real’ off-court charity work and last but surely not least; hes the only player whose age has remained unknown throughout his career. Your argument is invalid

  • Ken

As a short player and a point guard, I’m going to go with Michael Adams. Dude averaged 20/10 and was shorter than AI. When I was a kid and he dropped 54 points…a dude that short doing that in an NBA game? The crazy uniforms just made it that much cooler.

My favorite Nuggets moment still is seeing Mutombo crying with joy on the floor after upsetting the #1 Sonics, but for a player I have to go with Michael Adams.

  • Weasel

for some reason i’ve only seen like two people say ALEX ENGLISH. the most underrated player in NBA history Easily my Favorite Nugget, could teach Melo some thinks about work ethic and loyalty. GALLO WOULD BE MY SECOND FAVORITE.

  • shakatheworld

dikembe mutombo. his defensive tenacity and his play on the road to upset the sonics in ’94 (30+ blocks in 5 games?!) make him pretty legendary. add that to the finger wag and his humanitarian efforts off the court and he’s my favorite nugget ever.

  • blizzardman

Chris “The Birdman” Andersen!! Because he’s all about the defense. Plus he has got lots of sweet tats (try dressing up as him for Halloween next year). He has a decent nickname too, I guess. Haters gonna hate, but the Birdman is my favorite Nugget.

  • TK

Few NBA fans remember Dan Issel, he was probably my favorite Nugget.
Most may remember Issel from his coaching days for the Nuggets. Not many people realize that he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1993.
A fantastic post player, Issel had career averages of 22.6 points and 9.1 rebounds before retiring.

Earl Boykins. proved that little guys can ball in the L.

  • http://slamonline.com Billy Sunday

What people don’t really know about the nuggets they had PG’s for days over the years since the 80s. guards like fat lever, mahmoud abdul-rauf, avery johnson, robert pack, mark jackson, chauncey billups, nick van exel, tim hardaway, earl boykins, andre miller, allen iverson. you can’t forget about michael adams who was the last player to average 25 plus points with 10 plus assists a game finished with something like 26 and 10. you can’t forget the high school star who busted out the league kenny satterfield. or about the smale guards like eddie hughes and more commonly known from kansas adonis jordan.

Out of all these guards my favorite is greg grant. i love his story on how he grew up from a broken home in the hood in trenton and after high school he worked at a fish market. his talents were discovered from street ball games and went on to play at d3 school where he was drafted out of which is crazy. the craziest part of this all is the fact that he is only 5’7″ weighing only 140. he only played 6 seasons and hardly suited up the nuggets its just an inspiring, hidden story that people should know about

  • chau-jay

I must tip my hat off to Alex English. One of the NBA greats of all-time, plus a ’97 nod to the Basketball Hall of Fame. You can see the passion in his game when he played during his time, such an unstoppable force. It’s nice to see him these days continuing his basketball journey as an assistant coach. Players of today should be honoured!

  • lemskiz

is iverson paid for this plug in? a few dollars would surely help him ryt now

  • JB

Fat Lever! Defense, defense, defense…on a team that didn’t try to play defense. With Kiki Vandeweghe and Alex English, Denver would try to outscore you. Fat took some pride in defending. He was the catalyst.

  • jpm34

Michael Adams wuz a sweet lil point once upon a time!!!

  • jpm34

Larry Brown count even though he was a Denver Rocket?

  • kdtrey5

    David Thompson 1975 – 1982

    - Hall of Fame
    - jersey number (33) retired by Denver
    - NBA leader in free throws attempted in 1976/77
    - one-time ABA All-Star
    - three-time NBA All-Star
    - ABA Rookie of the Year
    - one-time All-ABA Team
    - two-time All-NBA Team
    might have even missed some

“David Thompson was Michael Jordan’s role model. For a player to have that status, he’s no doubt a phenomenal player. Possessing absolutely amazing leaping ability, “Skywalker” Thompson used the alley-oop as one of the mainstays of his offensive array. In his rookie season, Thompson won Rookie of the Year and took the Nuggets to their one and only (ABA) Finals. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996, David Thompson is probably best remembered for his 73 point game in the last game of the ’77-78 season.”

“Michael Jordan chose him to be the one to bring him into the Hall. Says it all for me.”

“Thompson was the young Jordan before Jordan played basketball. He averaged 22.7 points per game in his career and 24.1 points per game in seven years in Denver. Thompson was the first real crossover star (even though he does not get the same legendary memory given to Dr. J). IF THOMPSON HAD NOT FELL TO A HORRIBLE KNEE INJURY, HIS CAREER MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE LENDGENDARY” (THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRETTY AMAZING)

  • tony scorpio

Robert Pack. Kemped shawn kemp in classic avia. Nuff said.

  • javier

As he walks into the arena, the tattoos start to eat his skin revealing the feathers underneath. The gel on his hair reflects the kids’ smiles on the crowd. As he flies to block a shot, his opponents can only smell the odor of embarrassment floating thru the air. His fellow teammates wonder how a simple canvas transforms itself into a human piece of art that transmits emotions and feelings every night. Who is the artist behind this piece of colorful athletism. The last time I watched Andersen play, I turned to my wife and said “You are beautiful”. She turned around and threw the remote at my face. She knew!!

  • sean luddy

My favorite is Marcus camby he never gives up & always holds it down.also they don’t give him enough props.also bird man his engery is crazy & accepts his part

  • fernandogarcia

Birdman- simply because my kids are always yelling and complaining for me to let them watch their TV shows, yet whenever their is a Nuggets game on TV they seem to to distracted and amazed by the colors on Birdman, so i get to relax and watch the greatest professional sport around, the NBA

  • Ethan Vlahov

My favourite player of all time is “The manimal” Kenneth faried. The amazing intensity he brings to the game is amazing. He goes amazingly hard to the ball and can get up so high almost too high! GO NUGGETS

  • http://www.ballerspinas.com Val Marvin Macanas

My Favorite Nugget is Chauncey Billups because he is intelligent and he can score at will. I will never forget his impact during the 2008-2011 NBA Season stretch with the Nuggets. 50 plus wins, all time 3 pointers made in a single playoff game for the Nuggets, and countless of game winning shots. He is really a team player and a leader at that!!!

  • sideburn2go

J.R. Smith man… dude does not get enough respect for his game and he never got the playing time he deserved but he has always been my favorite player to watch. He can score at will from any place on his side of half court and he can do it in so many ways. Dropping bombs from outside, hitting the midrange, or driving hard to the hole. Plus you gotta love those posterizing dunks he was capable of putting up (he has had some of the sickest dunks of the last 5 years).
