Kobe Bryant to Miss Second Straight Game With Shin Injury

After suiting up for 138 consecutive games, Kobe Bryant will miss his second in a row tonight, as the Lakers travel to New Orleans. Bryant is nursing a sore and inflamed left shin: “Kobe Bryant (shin) will miss his 2nd straight game tonight at New Orleans. Not a surprise that Kobe will miss tonight’s game; if it hurt him enough to miss 1 game, wasn’t minor enough to return in 2 days. Bright side to Kobe missing this game is that he’ll now have (at least) 5 days rest to his legs that were 3rd in NBA in minutes.”

    Get well soon Kobe!

Damn I can only imagine how bad that feels to have a shin injury. I figure if getting kicked in the shin hurts like a b!tch then an inflamed shin’s gotta hurt at least about a hundred times more.

damn there goes the #3 seed…definatley don’t wanta play the Griz in the 1st round.

is this the same as shin splints? those hurt like crazy if they get out of control

  • Buujangles

    So he is human?

  • Buujangles

his pain tolerance is insane. If this is keeping him out of the lineup I can’t imagine how much it hurts.

  • robb

^^^^Yeah, I wonder what kind of injury is that

If he is sitting out games then it must be pretty bad :S
Good thing that he is sitting out this one. They will need him more in the playoffs.

What a baby. Nba players have played with broken feet before. I thought he was the toughest warrior out there?

Tenosynovitis is inflammation of the lining of the sheath that surrounds a tendon (the cord that joins muscle to bone). I didn’t understand any of that, but it sounds terrible.

  • thedocta

Jay cutler…you have no idea what you’re talking about. Atleast do a little cursory reading before commenting. Kobe’s tenosynovitis is extremely painful…any other NBA player would probably not even be able to flex/extend their foot…this guy was playing with it and noone could even tell he was injured. What’s new.

He needs this rest, after all, hes been through ankle and wrist injuries at the start of the season.

  • Billy

Blame Mike Brown for this, im glad kobe is finally getting rest but mike brown should have been playing Goudelock as his back up this entire time.. Kobe will have no energy in playoffs becaue of Mr. Potatoe Head

Kobe for MVP, Lebron get votes, because Lebron led the team to a 10-1 record with Wade out. If Lakers lose 5 straight games, will Kobe get credit for being the Rock for LA. BOOK IT!!

  • OTB

Kobe played with it for (I believe) 3 games before sitting out. He deserves the rest.

I played soccer and had the same freakish accident when my shin was kicked with out protection. A normal athlete like myself was shelved two weeks. The area becomes almost like silly putty and the leg gets exposed to more serious damage if not rested till it heals.

  • bdogg

kobe will play wednesday ..book it or he will suit up at home vs denver friday but he will be in uniform sunday vs dallas…i hope he drops 40!!! i want him locking up the scoring title..we need to beat the spurs wed and take at least 2 of the 3 IMO!

  • Dungeon Family

You got the nerve to be talking about Kobe when you got a name like @jayCutler?

That frail a$$ QB you cheerleading for

    Take a sit Young one —> _/

  • HiDef

I have no doubt that he’s fine and could go if needed to. However, they aren’t getting higher than the 3 seed and have a few games spare so it’s worth resting him.

  • Drig

Now THIS is what I was worried about…….MikeB…….

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Lakers cannot lose and get 4th or 5th seed, because Memphis will be a tough out. Kobe needs to play, we barely beat New Orleans with no stars from the dumb Stern trade. This is why Mike Brown is stating Kobe should be in discussion as MVP. Without Kobe, Lakers are barely a playoff team. BOOK IT!!
