LeBron James Called Loss to Bulls ‘One of the Worst Feelings I’ve Had’

The Miami Heat suffered a tough overtime loss in Chicago last night, and an emotional LeBron James appeared to take it the hardest. Reports the Miami Herald and Daily Herald: “This one hurt. You could see it on LeBron James’ face. He was fighting back his emotions, pausing to collect himself before speaking, after [Thursday] night’s 96-86 loss the Bulls at United Center. ‘It hurts,’ James said. ‘As a team, we felt like we played well. We gave ourselves a chance to win…but they pretty much dominated the overtime.’ The Bulls outscored the Heat 12-2 in the extra period. James said the Heat was spent emotionally after C.J. Watson drained a difficult three-pointer to tie the game with 2.2 seconds left. It appeared that either LeBron or Shane Battier left Watson alone. Both players were helping triple-team Kyle Korver, who was 5 of 6 from three-point range for the game. The Heat’s Big 3 scored 71 points (30 from James; 21 from Wade; 20 from Bosh) but Miami didn’t have the depth to contend for the Bulls’ bench. Chicago’s reserves outscored the Heat’s 47-7. The Heat is 13-10 since the All-Star break and 1-8 on the road since then against teams in the playoff hunt. [...] ‘This is one of the worst feelings I’ve had in the regular season this year,’ James told reporters in Miami’s locker room.”

Put the rest of the quote in the heading, come on SLAM. “IN THE REGULAR SEASON THIS YEAR”. How many bad feelings has Lebron had in this extremely efficient shortened season? Zzzzzzzzzz

  • Jer Dawg

That was deplorable effort not to close out Bulls. The Heat was cruising then choked. Well, Playoffs are around the corner and they can carry that feeling into the post season. Good to lose sometimes. They can use it as motivation.

  • Alex

well we’ll probably see this match-up in the ECF so they are gonna get another chance at the bulls and if the bulls can get lebron off rose then it should be a pretty good series.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Who cares Lebron, just one game. Hit your free throws Heat win.

  • 130623

Really don’t see the HEAT making back to the finals this year, their bench scoring sucks and they have no legit big man!

  • RunNGun

LeChock… really, worst than when you got a taste of the dirk?

  • Honduran

You have to fail to succeed, LeBron!

  • Honduran

You have to fail to succeed, LeBron!

  • http://www.slamonline.com T-Virus

Hate or love the Heat you gotta admit they lack bench back up big 3 will be consistently efficient but it’s still three guys it’ll get tough in the post season without efficient back up. Also is it just me or that despite having 3 mega stars Miami seems to not care too much? The seats are never filled really…

  • ALD

The definition of an MVP has been watered down.

  • bike

A very humble statement by LeBron.

  • http://slamonline.com Nella

Damn SLAM, a lot of non-stories and cut off quotes parading around as articles today. Wouldn’t the post up and some actual pieces of writing suffice? Fingers crossed for a Bryan Crawford article, or something else real.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-ray

Hey everyone remember last year when the Heat couldn’t beat the Bulls and then they met in the ECF? Remember when LeBron went ape sh*t on them? Yea I remember.

  • http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/39910/knicks-will-miss-lin-during-playoff-push Paul H

B.C. ? Sure. ^^^^ A Brain Crawfish article is all we need. S.T.F.U. Nelly

  • http://www.nba.com Saviour

T-ray, and see how that worked out for the Heat in the finals? Yea you remember.

  • http://dennysisforwinners.blogspot.com DennysFishTacos

The reason Lebron is never going to win a ring is because he overanalyzes and overemphasizes everything. Him crying in celebration after beating Boston last year in the Eastern Conference SEMIFINALS? Come on, man. Not built for this.

  • http://dennysisforwinners.blogspot.com DennysFishTacos

If Miami meets Boston in the playoffs, the Heat definitely won’t make it back to the Finals this year.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-ray

Saviour but are we talking about the finals? Thought the game last night was between the Bulls and Heat? I brought up the fact that just because he struggled against the Bulls late last night let us not forget the deciding game in the ECF against said Bulls when LeBron went crazy in the 4th quarter mind you. So you can bring up the finals all you want it’s really irrelevant to what my point was.

  • http://slmaonline.com Bryan Crawford

    I heart my haters…
    Waddup, Nelly!!

  • @boweezy24

    Thats Last Season Tho!

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-ray

I love Bulls fan/LeBron haters. Considering I’m a Laker fan why the f*ck do I even care if the Heat aren’t as good as advertised or that the Bulls might fall short of expectations again? Why am I asking you these questions? You know what I’m rambling I’m done lol Happy Friday what up BCrawford!

  • Da-Meat-Hook

T-ray, these haters bring up Miami’s shortcomings any chance they get. Most times it’s not even applicable to the conversation.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/tray24 T-ray

    MeatHook
Trust me I know and I do agree with what most of them say but sometimes it’s ridiculous. Like Saviour said he didn’t show up in the finals that’s not debatable. But when he does have clutch moments it’s forgotten or dismissed. Idk I chalk it up as a lost cause.

  • Rik Smits Mullet

Lets go Lebron. When the Playoffs turn around i want to see berzerker Lebron. Take this team with all their flaws and a coach with no offensive sets to a championship. Its time Lebron.

  • Rob Knight

    Lebron sucks. Period.

  • robb

Chicago’s bench is incredible, and Tom knows exactly how to use it. It’s almost like they have two starting lineups.

  • logues

lebron deserves all the criticism he gets as far as i’m concerned…. saying “not 1, not 2, not 3, etc.”, self-proclaimed nickname “the king” when he hasnt won anything, has “the chosen 1″ tattooed on his back… gimme a break humble my a$$..

  • AsadSaleh3

The only conversation worth having about the Heat is about them winning a championship. Nothing else matters. That’s the burden they put on themselves when the “Big 3″ came together. Will they get past Boston if they meet in the 2nd round? If they do meet and Miami wins, will they get past Chicago? Those are the most important questions to ask. LeBron should know this game didn’t mean all that much in the grand scheme of things. The Bulls were the 1 seed last season too. Miami knows they’ll have to win in Chicago to get back to the Finals if they get past the 2nd round. They should be focusing on those role players stepping up and Bosh needs to be more involved in the offense. LeBron should score less and create more.

  • Rik Smits Mullet

    @logues
lebrons never made up the king james nickname. Media did. Also the chosen one nickname came from the cover from SI during his high school days. Go ahead and bash lbj all you want. But get your facts straight.

  • smoove

No pity here, that team is too top heavy , not enough depth. thats what happens when your way into luxury tax and cant afford other good players, they still can turn it around, but the thing is that no team fears the heat, that was last year.

  • bigdoggchad

so SI made him get “chosen 1″ tatted on his back?

  • shuttlesworth

lebron reminds of that song by matisyahu entitled “king without a crown”

  • RIGGS

    MVP? HAHAHAHA

  • greg

Everytime Lebron loses or has a setback, Cleveland Cavs fans rejoice!!!!”

  • bike

Just one game but the fact they are a measly 13-10 since the AS break is cause for worry. And they should be very scared of the Bulls.

  • Jackie

I don’t know if they are tired or not taking these games serious toward the play-off. These games prepare teams for the play-off, but Miami not ready, as a fan, I am truly disappointed.

  • Zoom

    I think LeBron needs to take the role in Miami ,but if he does he needs to be playing at his best every night! @greg I still find it hilarious that Cavs fans have nothing better to do in there sad life’s than rejoice about LBJ losing. Cavs fans need to get over it ,it happened over a year ago ,it seems like you pay more attention to the Heat. LEBRON for MVP (;

  • Ash

To lose against Chicago has to be frustrating. The bench needs to step up big time. Same issue from last year that hasn’t been resolve.

  • redfoxxx

WADE is playing like crap!!! Let’s call it like it is. LeBron is playing great in every aspect of the game. When are people going to place the blame where it belongs on WADE!!! Start holding him accountable for his screwups. He keeps turning the ball over, passing sloppy and he just seems disinterested and it is pissin me off!!! WADE get it together!!!

  • bigdoggchad

wade scored like the last 10 points in a row for the heat in regulation before bron hit a 3 and that free throw.

  • redfoxxx

Also Coach Spo is not using his rotation properly. We must start placing blame where it belongs and it is not LEBRON!!!

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Must be such a tough life he lives if the worst he’s EVER felt is due to a basketball game loss..

  • Patrich

It seems like Coach Spo gets out-coach especially in BIG games. What is his philosphy in fouling to prevent a 3-point shot. It was 11 secs remaining. They played excellent defensively, but when wouldnt you foul, put the bulls on the FT line. Even if the Bulls make both FT, the Heat would have possession,a one point lead with about 5-7 secs. I am a high school coach and I could have managed the end of the game better than that. Of course LBJ could have probably ended the game if he made both FTs. I know this “monday morning quaterbacking”, but with this philosphy, too many would have to wrong with such a strategy. I am really concerned because Wayde and laBron have to expend too much energy on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor and bench production doesnt is not helping !!!!

  • ALD

I wonder if Barkley ever had that many apologists after he retired with no rings… “but he doesn’t have help… his coach.. wah wah wah…”

  • Fresh Boirdee

47-7! Your bench only scored 7 points!! Miami has to win the championship… I don’t really care for them, but this experiment of 3 max players is going to be an epic failure (championship wise) if they don’t win it all. The Heat organization is getting their money, but you play to win, you spend to win. Everybody talking about how they man handled the Bulls in the playoffs, they should know this team, they should have destroyed them. They are 3 games above 500 since the all star break, mean while the Lakers, Bulls, Thunder, Spurs, and Celtics have been playing some of their best basketball. The Heat have been exposed… ride out the dunk fest and fast breaks and keep it close in the first quarter; slow the tempo down; make it a half court court game, keep it close, play tight defense and make Lebron, Wade, and Bosh beat you.

  • Jerome

LBJ: “I feel bad. I think my talents don’t carry through to the end of the game. I feel real bad.”

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rwDluFZQmtQ nbk

The Thunder have lost 4 of their last 7, so no, they aren’t playing their best basketball. And the Bulls 9 times out of 10 would have lost last night given the shot Watson had to hit just to force overtime. And if he didn’t make that low % shot, all of you wouldn’t be saying the things you are saying. Clearly the Bulls won because of depth, which is great, but it is also concerning, you can’t really expect them to be that reliant on bench players in the playoffs. Yesterday changed/told us nothing. Just like last season, when the Bulls consistently beat the Heat during the regular season.

  • d lo

Live by three die by the three.

  • rolothahallofgamebpsn

drama akin to politically charged world we live in. heat will win it all because lebron did the commissioner a solid by not defending dirk in last years finals. his turn then okc and all will be right in the corrupt financially charged wwf sporting world. put all ceasars coinage on the miami heat and see the return on the investment in june…p.s. longtime lakers fan who saw gasol throw game two versus dallas in return for game 7 calls versus celtics in game7 the prior year. the fix is on EVERYONE everywhere. wake up and play with yer kids, nieces, and nephews.

  • Dr.J

I really feel bad for the team ,they have a fim room coach who was hand picked by Raily when he did not even play in the NBA, theres Nackadoo hall famer asst coach sitting next to him.It all starts and end with the coach the players are ponds you must know how and when to move them.He is the worst coach in the NBA,he needs to sit his no coaching behind down some where and let somebody who knows what to do take over.

  • Dr J.

Dear Miami Heat basketball fans I really feel bad for you because you have a unqulified head coach ,if he was in corporate america he would have been fired long ago but he has a boss Raily who hand picked him keeping him around at the cost of the season ticket holders,we should protest, and not renew.until we get a seasond head coach.

  • http://www.yahoo.com berkamore

The Bulls are sitting pretty because they have three things that don’t change from game to game: Coaching, defense and depth. Those things are gonna be there every night. Even when they shoot poorly, they are tough to beat. Miami on the other hand, was actually playing good defense at some point, I don’t know what happened. But the lack of depth may hurt the Heat. Plus, the Heat don’t have anybody who can consistently score in the paint. (Bosh is more a jumpshooter)

  • bull22

this was a pure slugfest like 10 out of the last 11 times these teams have played where the game could have gone either way. i loved what gar forman
said in respects to this team earning the chance to grow and take another shot at seeing if they can get to finals with this team. its clear that the bulls team is growing and getting better. i dont know how many times alot of you moronic experts need to be told that because of the six banners that fly from the rafters at the united center, chicago is always going to get best shot from opposing teams when they are winning big. i said it in last years playoffs no opponent would be a pushover and neither will this year unless the bulls kick it into a high gear i have not seen and sweep some team ugly.

  • Mike

We will see how the bulls hold up in the playoffs. They will face other teams with depth.
Next is when you look at the stats LBJ is doing his job. Other players need to step up.
Why they didn’t foul in those last few seconds is beyond me. Cost them the game tho.
As a heat fan I’m scared because two guys can’t do the work of 5. They have to get a lead going against a team in order to get some rest only to lose that lead and have to go back in to try to get it back.
    I think Bron jinxed himself.

  • Marc

That 3 pointer wouldn’t have mattered if Lebron hadn’t bricked his first free throw. I guess he should feel bad….. The game never should have gone to overtime.

  • Fresh Boiardee

“And the Bulls 9 times out of 10 would have lost last night given the shot Watson had to hit just to force overtime.”

But he did and they won… and if Lebron James would have hit his free throws… yada yada yada….

“you can’t really expect them to be that reliant on bench players in the playoffs.”

Why not, their bench has been pretty good all year…better than Miami’s.

“Yesterday changed/told us nothing. Just like last season, when the Bulls consistently beat the Heat during the regular season.”

This game, along with the Heat’s play since the all star break has told us a lot about this team and their coach.

  • George Brown

i am responding to all the Bulls haters saying what could have happened if Miami did this or that the bottom line is they lost 1. the Bulls won with reserves the MVP coming off an injury, now peep this playoffs is whole different atmosphere and when you go through the playoffs you get better or you should if the BULLS bench stay consistent which they have no one will beat them, they have the BEST coach by far in the NBA and all this talk about what happened last year doesn’t matter they will be there Miami won’t get pass BOSTON if they meet in the 1st round

  • BRYANT BYNUM GASOL 24 17 16

Respect to the Bulls for playing well without Rose but all this Miami won’t get past Boston Bull I$h is funny.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Maybe it has told you a lot. The rest of us already knew all of this.

  • Fresh Boiardee

    ^ This guy. LOL!

  • http://SLAMONLINE.COM Gab

Like Steve Kerr said during the game Chicago is a much better regular season team. But the Miami is a better fitted team for the post-season.

2012 Finals. Lakers vs Miami or Chicago

  • bballfan

when Miami was beginning to play bulls last ECF, they had no legit big man and literraly NO bench.(bibby was useless, haslem was still injured, jone was out with broken toe, miller still required surgeries. yet Miami dominated and won in 5 games… this bench is a billion times better then heats last year but yeah thee no match for the bulls bench.also deng is playing with an injury which is gonna hurt them because who their back up sf? Miami may not be the nest regular season team but hell cavs were for 2 seasons and where did that get them?
