Metta World Peace Apologized to the OKC Thunder Following Suspension

Shortly after news of his seven-game suspension broke, Metta World Peace posted a brief statement on his website, apologizing for his actions: “I apologize to the Oklahoma City Thunder fans and the OKC organization. I look foward to getting back on the floor with my teammates and competing for the Lakers fans.”

    Why bother apologizing honestly? It’s obvious he doesn’t truly care about anyone but himself

    Yeah Don’t Apologize. Whats Been Done Has Been Done. MWP!

    @23: People complain when someone doesn’t apologize, people complain when someone apologizes. Honestly, in today’s world, I would take an insincere apology over complete silence.

    @ Clownfish31… agreed. Although I don’t buy that ” it wasn’t intentional”…that’s a bunch of crap. He wasn’t celebrating he was throwin’ bows!

    @TreShiQ: I think the suspension was warranted, but the underlying question has always been “Why the heck is James Harden running so close towards Ron Artest in the first place?” … Also, accidents happen. Just look at this: http://youtu.be/_eSPtf9iUik. Wrong place, wrong time.

    an apology is worth nothing if it isnt sincere. as a matter of fact an apology without sincerity is downright disrespectful. at least imo.

    basketball is a game full of contact. alot of unnecessary contact. alot of bumping. but artest CLEARLY CROSSED THE LINE

    I agree that an insincere apology is bad, but at a certain point, when you’ve lived long enough, you just accept that in certain situations an insincere apology is better than none at all. I still give Metta World Peace the benefit of the doubt that the situation is much worse than it seems. The Paul Pierce clip clearly shows that sometimes players get excited, swing wildly, and some unfortunate player or ref is going to get whacked in the face. Maybe Artest had malicious intents, but let’s face it: “why the heck is James Harden running so close towards MWP in the first place?”

    i think harden was trying to cut rons celebration short. nothing wrong with that imo. it certainly doesnt warrant a “cocked back” elbow to the back of the head. artest went from pounding his chest, to cock back and swinging that elbow with force.

    @clownfish31
    The difference between these two is that Pierce immedieately after he hit the ref showed concern and apologised in the same moment. A big difference.

    I think Artest is a good person, that just has serious issues controlling his tempers.

    Shame on him !!!! You have nothing to do on a basket ball court Mr Metta World Fight

    After he hit JH he just kept walking, he never turned around to check if JH was ok, nor did he apologize to JH directly, which clearly shows it was semi intentional.

    Mental With Problems has yet to apologize to Harden. Thus far, his “apology” is weaker than his ability to control himself.
