Photo: Is This the Brooklyn Nets’ New Logo?

Thoughts on what appears to be the logo for Brooklyn’s new pro hoops team? Deadspin explains the discovery: “The photo was posted on Twitter by some guy who’s doing IT work at the Barclays Center, and Tweeting photos as he goes. We won’t link because we don’t want him to get fired (he’ll probably get fired anyway), but there’s no reason to think that logo mounted on an office wall isn’t the real thing. Ignore the blue tape. We like it! It’s an update of the Jersey logo, from the word Nets above the ball, all set inside a shield. But it’s cleaner, more modern, less cheesy. It also hints that black and white might be the new primary team colors, a major overhaul of the red, white and blue that dates back to the franchise’s time as the New Jersey Americans.”

Nice. It has that cool, classic vintage look.

  • Bobitto

It looks just like the logo they had when J-Kidd was there, just black and white. -_-

  • crooklyn

Black and white????? That ish is wack, we gots too much flavor in these here parts to not be rockin’ colors. Play off the old brooklyn dodgers or something. Heck I’d rather see black on black on black if you got your hearts set on black (all black e’rything ala jigga man) Sort of like the unis TNP wore at the first TOC when they won it all.

It’s nice. Sharp and clean. I like logos and uniforms that are simple and to the point with colours that actually look nice. Knicks, Celtics, Clippers, Warriors(The City unis), Grizz, Spurs. Lakers unis used to be nice, but the newer version isn’t the best. Magic-era Lakers unis were nice. When NBA uniforms start looking like children’s pajamas, a re-design is needed *cough* Bobcats *cough*.

  • OEasy

    Basura.

  • robb

I like it. Keep it simple.

  • Tempest

    I sure hope not

  • Drig

I was hoping for a bit more colour.

  • ALD

    uglyyyyyyyy

  • MBE18

It looks like a high school basketball team logo.

  • ClydeSays

My kids’ middle school team has a better logo …and a similar record…

  • Wray

I’ve seen worse (Charlotte, anyone?), but this is just a little too plain for my tastes.

i thought i already seen a new logo design on the slam site a couple of weeks ago.
On the ultra crappy urban gossip site mediatakeout they show a snapback with the same logo today. so probably this is the real deal. I like to see a little bit more color

as a Nets fan: I like it. Always been a fan of more simple logos. At some point the League got ridiculous, especially the uniforms and logos when the Raptors and Grizzlies were expansion teams, the Bobcats over the years, and another terrible logo was the Golden State Warriors action man logo. Yikes.

It looks aiiight. Not mad cause it doesn’t look corny, but it doesn’t look great. And from what I heard, it’s not black and white, it’s money green and black.

On another note, this V neck craze is gettin’ OUTTA control. Saw a dude today trying to thug with a V neck that went down to his belt buckle. Come on, man!!! Are we going back to the androgynous days when the dude that looked the most like a b*tch got all the girls???

Surprised no Illuminati comments have been posted

  • LA Huey

I’m not sure about the ‘B’ on the ball but otherwise, it’s a nice, clean look.
Gerard, the NBA of 1990s, is the holy grail of ridiculous logos and jerseys. You can add ATL and Houston to the list you already started.

Brooklyn Nets Sounds Like A NBDL Team. A lot of bandwagon is about to pop off but the Nets still going to be trash. Majority of fans will be from Brooklyn, gassed that they have their “own” team but so what they trash lol.

  • B.I.G.

If the Heat don’t win the chip, Lebron going to get traded to Nets unifying Illuminati brothers

@ O, blame the females. They love a metrosexual dude nowadays.

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

@ dfrance21, that’s what I don’t get. Since when do women want a man who’ll borrow half their blouses and tight hip hugging jeans?? My cousin used to like dating BIG girls back in the day cause he used to borrow their Tommy Hilfiger and Polo clothes, but those was mens clothes. Seeing dudes in Applebottoms is disturbing…

Beats the hell outta me bro. I’m not with the baggy baggy anymore, but I don’t wanna feel my thighs rubbing together when I walk either.

  • Gaspar

V-neck? Metrosexual? 2005 is long gone people

  • Jordan

Give the unis a throwback feel and ill be a fan. I like the old school style, not too flashy, yet its clear they mean business…the loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room…

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

    @crooklyn – Are you a caricature or a parody? Can’t tell.
@dfrance21 – Metrosexuals have been ‘out’ since in 2007. The word you’re looking for is ‘hipster’.

  • Mack

There’s obviously going to be some color on it, the Spurs colors are black and white. Plus black and white isnt at all appealing

  • radbad

this one would have been so much better – with the throwback jerseys Dr. J used to wear. Dammit!

  • Wishywashy

looking at this http://www.nba.com/nets/tickets/splash.html it may be correct

  • http://ESPN.com Paul

O, someone’s wee-wee doesn’t get played with. It’s all goo bruh. Who gives a f*ck what one wears? It’s just clothing bro. You think women just get with a man because of their clothes? Get real, bro.

  • Young C

This is what happens when you give Jay-Z too much control over the new look/style of a team. I’ve seen better logo redesigns created by nameless graphics designers on the internet. Just because Jay is from Brooklyn and has a clothing line doesn’t mean he’s qualified to give the team a look that will last for generations. I wouldn’t be surprised if their jerseys are designed by Rocawear too. I swear these corporate suits dont know anything.

  • crooklyn

    @ugh I’m yo daddy

  • BERNT

    IT was true!
