Saints Owner Tom Benson To Buy New Orleans Hornets

The days of the NBA owning the New Orleans Hornets are all but over. This morning, the League reached a tentative agreement with New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson to buy the team for $338 million, according to sources close to the discussions. From the New Orleans Times Picayune, who first reported the sale: “Benson will own 100 percent of the team. The purchase price has not been announced, but it is expected to be in the neighborhood of $340 million. Benson initially bid for the team in January but walked away. He re-emerged about two weeks ago as a potential buyer.”

I was under the impression that NFL owners were unable to own other franchises. Could someone confirm this?

Is there any other signs of hope for this team? I mean this team is a clear example what a great GM David Stren would make.

Stern may give them the first pick as a result of new ownership

It’d be funny if Benson sent CP3 a Bounty chocolate bar as a gift.

Some teams will have a lot of injured players pretty soon.

@Boss Bailey; if both franchises are in the same city it’s allowed, because there is no conflict of interest.

Also, anyone else think he was smart to wait until after the trade deadline to make a bid for the team, the NBA’s stint as caretaker owner of the Hornets has been pretty damn successful, so giving them more time with the team was a good idea.
