Stephon Marbury Wouldn’t Return if the New York Knicks Asked

The NY Post, which has an unhealthy (but amusing) obsession with Stephon Marbury, emailed the newly-minted champion point guard to see if he’d listen to an offer from his old team. All logic dictates that New York would never want to re-visit the Marbury fiasco, but they are the Knicks, so you never know. For what it’s worth, Steph says he wouldn’t be interested: “In the wake of Jeremy Lin being lost for the regular season and first round of the playoffs because of knee surgery, it is possible the Knicks will add a veteran point guard for the playoff push. One who is available: Stephon Marbury. The former Knicks led his Beijing team to the Chinese Basketball Association championship, scoring 42 points in the series clincher Friday night. When The Post emailed Marbury last night asking what he would do if the Knicks gave him a call now that former adversary Mike D’Antoni is gone, Marbury responded, ‘NOTHING.’ Knicks coach Mike Woodson said he thinks the club may stand pat. They would have to waive a player — Mike Bibby? — to open a roster spot. Woodson said he thinks the club can survive with starter Baron Davis, Bibby and Toney Douglas.”

Life is good for steph now and believe it or not people can actually lead happy lives playing ball outside of the nba

I believe, at this stage at least, that Steph would stab an Orphan to get his ass back to the league. This story Is one big lie.

    Don’t worry, they wont ask.

  • MikeC.

Knick fans don’t want him back either. Status quo shall remain.

Marbury and Iverson are two guys who could definitely still contribute.

Why would he want to go back to being a role player? Marbury is too old to work his way back into a regular starting gig, better to enjoy being the focal point of a team while he’s still able than play spot minutes in the NBA for the rest of his playing days.

I actually think he’s happy with his life in China. I do think he would like to be asked, just so he can turn them down. he’s also making a boatload of cash off his Starbury gear out there.

@omphalos I think he could start on a team like Miami that doesn’t need him to be a major contributor. Watched some videos of him online and he looks to be in grea shape. Saw him dunk with 2 hands easily on the break, not many barely 6 feet 35 year olds can do that.

@MikeM, exactly and if The Rockettes asked me to join I’d decline the invitation…

Based on what Durant has done for OKC and the criteria for the MVP, yes he may have a chance. If this is an argument about who is having a better year and you dont think its LBJ, then im sorry but you really dont know basketball.

Steph is making too much cash selling the Starbury brand in China. The number of basketball fans there exceeds the entire U.S. population. If he comes back and gets injured, or even worse rides the bench the whole time, this will hurt his image/cashflow in China.

Steph got maad loot . Do you think he cares about his image after what the G Strings did to him? :-)

  • nxfan

Boston offered him a deal which he turned down to go to China in the 1st place. Why would he want to play in NY where the tabloids make up BS stories on the daily and blame him for everything outside global warming? The fans and media in China love the dude- he’s gonna be a billionaire.

  • Auction

Let’s face it the China league is
not the NBA. Step has burned
all bridges with the NBA. No one
wants this head case. He says this
stuff to market his so called name.
And don’t get it confused , he’s not
    making much money over there.
The cap is the cap. And to top
that , he still owes 22 million in
a lawsuits. They just sold his LA
home. The NY one is next.
And brand , what brand ?????

  • Mega

dfrance u really think he could start on an NBA team, let alone the Heat? Sure bud.

    cosign deadbored

  • Broke and crazy

His house was foreclosed . He has a major problem
with the banks right now. He has NO money people.
He’s playing in China because he has to. The NBA
does not want or need him. The hype is only coming
from Step. He’s lucky to be playing anywhere . It’s sad
he feels the NBA wants or even thinking about him.
Just like the lie he told about Miami wanting him.
True his team in China won. Good 4 him. But please
step shut your mouth. That’s always been your problem.
By the way we want our 22 million owed. Learn to pay
Your bills. And tweet & comment less.

As a Chinese, I don’t really understand why people in NewYork are so disagreeable on Stephon. Because of his videos on youtube? Well, I wanna say, everyone will undergo his low ebb in life, and even maybe some people just give up the life, but Stephon overcomes the difficulties and finds himself, why do you guys and American media still say and write something bad about him? When people laughing at his crying while he was listening a song, or his eating Vaseline, don’t you think you are such an inhuman person, don’t you think the country is so cruel? Seeing someone getting in trouble, you do not give any help, but just laughing at him, is there any love in your guys hearts? As a Beijinger, I love Marbury and not only because he makes our dream of getting the CBA championship come true, but also his spirits inspire me and lots of Chinese people. Maybe it’s jus the right place right people at the right time. Love is love.

  • Most importantly

Most importantly he puts god #1, where will that $22 million get you when god returns? No where.

    @Cathy Exactly.
