Carlos Boozer Came Up Short for the Chicago Bulls Once Again

With Derrick Rose sidelined, the task to carry the Bulls fell on Carlos Boozer’s shoulders (especially last night.) He did not deliver against the Sixers. From CSN Chicago: “For the second consecutive postseason, Carlos Boozer will feel the heat and this year the Bulls didn’t even lose to Miami, ironically his offseason home. Boozer snatched 13 rebounds, fitting for a starting power forward in a playoff game, especially in just 27 minutes of play. The reason he only played 27 minutes in an elimination game, one might wonder? Well, Boozer only mustered up three points and not for lack of trying, as he shot 1-for-11 from the field and made his lone free-throw attempt. ‘I just missed shots. Some nights are like that. Some nights you’re on fire. Some nights you’re not. Tonight I wasn’t,’ said Boozer. ‘My teammates did a great job of making shots. My teammates wanted me to stay aggressive, stay confident, keep shooting. They just didn’t go in.’ To his credit, Boozer didn’t run and hide from the question. And in fairness, he was tremendous in both the Bulls’ Game 5 win at the United Center and for most of their Game 4 loss in Philadelphia. But just like last spring, when the Bulls lost to Miami in the Eastern Conference finals, Boozer came up short when it counts.”

    Huge disappointment

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    What a Boozer!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

He’s done it consistently during his career.

  • baller23

Trade Him! He Stealing the Bulls Money$$$$.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

    Rose needs help. lol

  • http://www.soundcloud.com/tray-5 T-Ray

And my friend argued with me for an hour telling me he was worth that contract…

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

And people think Duncan is the model of consistency, but I say Boozer’s failures are as steady as the tides.

  • bull22

boozer never should have gotten that type of money to begin. had the bulls
won this series and then given boston a decent series i would have been happy
to say give this team a chance to beat the heat next year, but this first round exit is not just embarrassing but it shows the bulls need a replace a few players with betters scorers.

  • Tmac

    amnesty!!!

  • bull22

@tmac, yep because boozer can’t contribute when it counts and iam also disappointed that no other players manned up and took the lead in this series.

  • http://www.yahoo.com berkamore

Seems like he was comiong into his own when he was in Utah. But he has regressed since…Always thought he and Rose would be a deadly one two punch in Chicago but that hasn’t happened.

    hahaha.

“Carlos Boozer will feel the heat and this year the Bulls didn’t even lose to Miami, ironically his offseason home”. As ironic as an Alanis Morissette lyric.

  • RIGGS

I seriously thought DENG would have stepped up and took the reins but I guess they really do rely on Rose a lot.

  • Fat Lever

I was loving the fact that Boozer choked. The guy talks non-stop on the court like he’s a superstar, I could hear him through the TV watching the game last night. Here’s a question. Who would you rather have Amare or Boozer? I know, there are no winners in that game.

  • LA Huey

I’ll take Amare over Boozer. It’s easier to find a guard to run a PnR with Amare than it is to get Boozer some courage from the Wizard of Oz.

  • ernieD

Not very fair… considering no Rose and no Noah. If the C’s had no Rondo & Pierce, would they say that KG choked? Yep, they probably would, actually.

  • http://www.soundcloud.com/tray-5 T-Ray

Ernie don’t make excuses. Unlike KG, Boozer never carried his team for a majority of his career. I highly doubt they would say KG “choked” considering his age and his history of carrying those sorry a$$ TWolves team.

  • abaci

Some blame should go to Watson for not holding on the ball in the last 8 seconds and Asik for missing Both free throws.

  • Ses

    Disgusted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Berkamore
He was never coming into his own. He played the exact same way in Utah. He just played with Deron Williams. Trust me on this.

  • http://wow.com whoeversaidjrissmart

I love the comment by the guy who goes woudl you take amare or boozer wat an idiot- no question both are overpaid, but boozer is rediculously overpaid…amare is a superstar and who pretty uch single handedly carried this team back into the spotlight. Melo diddnt hurt but we made the playoffs last yr and it wasnt because of carmelo thats for damn sure.

Amare had a herniated disc in his back, lost his brother to a car accident, and then fucked his hand up and still put up 20 and 10 when we needed him at home facing elimination, oh yeah and he didnt play with a POINT GUARD ALL YEARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Everyone needs to look up how many 30 point games in a row stud’amire had last yr and stop drinking DRAINO. seriusly stop talking about amaere like you know the guy or his game

back to boozer-overpaid, big mouth, spray paints his hair on his head and averages like 8 points a game. His game has slowly deteriorated and hes been playing besides on of the best pg’s in the game. Tell me how many games bulls would lose without boozer when they have omer asik and healthy noah…um none . the guy is expendable and thats putting it kindly

  • http://wow.com whoeversaidjrissmart

id take amare every godam day and week over boozer..the guys game has deteriorated like most peoples memory fo amare last yr. talk about short memories and just being uneducated.

herniated disc in back? check. losing your brother and best friend in a car accident? check not playing with POINT GUARD THE WHOLE GODDAM YEAR ? CHECK putting in 20 and ten on home court faCINng elimination like a real OG with a battered SHOOTING HAND? CHECK

fat lever-your a joke dont compare amare sotudemire to the trash that is boozer it makes you sound like an idiot

  • AsadSaleh3

My wish in 2010 for the Bulls lineup when free agency began and they had money to sign two big time guys was Rose, Wade, Deng, Bosh, Noah. Then I figured Wade would stay in Miami so I thought maybe Rose, Joe Johnson, Deng, Bosh, Noah. Never thought Boozer would mix well. He’s not big time. Rose needs one big time teammate to win championships. Just one star teammate and a bunch of shooters mixed with gritty tough guys. Boozer isn’t it. He won’t be amnestied, won’t be traded because no one wants him.

  • http://none.com Jim Stivers

BOOOO BOOOOZER LET HIME GOOOOO AMNESTY PLEASE and Im not even a bulls fan…

  • http://slamonline.com p

3 points for carlos looser? thats not getting it done in an elimination game….looks like the bulls overpaid…

  • Techie

Boozer = OVER RATED. You getting all that MAX money, and still can’t produce while your guy Rose is down.. Noah is a better improved player than you.

  • Jazz Fan

Go back in time to find all of these comments made by the Jazz and Cavs fans. (Boozer is a disappointment, fizzles out in playoffs, Overpaid etc…)

IF the bulls can trade him they wont get much in return…

  • Fat Lever

First of all whoeversaidjrissmart, it’s not that serious. You need to look at everything when evaluating Boozer or Amare. Don’t just look at production, look at contract; both length of and amount owed, look at the cap hit you take in each case based on production, look at injury history, look at intangibles. Intangibles such as being such a got d@mn knucklehead that you would put your team and your own career in jeopardy by reacting to a loss by punching a f*(king fire extinguisher. And you keep bringing up past 30 point games. Yo genius, THAT’s THE PAST. Like I said, look at the entire picture before you get your ish in a bunch.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

This cat gets payed 80 mill to score 3 points in a deciding game. Sheeeeeit, I would gladly be Prime Mike Tyson’s punching bag for 500K.

  • Josh Heat

Boozer is worth every penny of his contract. As a Heat fan, I am glad he is taking up salary cap space on the Bulls so they cannot get other players to help Rose. Boozer is every opposing teams dream.

  • blackthought

boozers been an underperformer the whole time he`s with the bulls, but noone would recognize when drose is healthy. and without drose the bulls need a miracle to take the crown(won`t happen, just as trading boozers contract)

  • MUBWAR

i don’t wanna make you bulls fans even more mad with Boozer but this quote from him on thescore.com : I thought I played well, especially with the kind of season it was,” Boozer said, when asked to asses his second season in Chicago. “We had the best record again in basketball, won our division again, had the top seed again, that’s all that matters, yo.

i wonder what Rose has to say about this?

  • Dubclub

I’d say Gibson is going to be the man next year

  • Fat Lever

If I were the Bulls, I’d amnesty Boozer, try and sign Taj to a contract now, because he seems like if he plays a full season as a starter, he’s going to get even more money. I wonder what would be considered a good contract for him right now. Something like a 4 year deal worth $25M? Bulls fans, what do yall think? Then they could take some of that amnesty money and build a better cast around DRose. What’s Rip owed and for how long?

  • T-Money

this is why i don’t agree with giving out all-star spots based on team records. deng is not an all-star. he’s a solid role player.

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

whats his contract right now anyways? would amnesty be an option for CHI?

  • http://sdfklf.com Jukai

    Betrayal Skull Dude strikes again.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Red

AMNESTY BOOZER please & yea Taj needs to be resigned, give’em whatever, u can tell Taj will play hard for us & money won’t change him hes a great guy.

  • Fat Lever

How about Krylon for Boozer’s nickname? Only valid reason he goes from a widow’s peak to having a line straighter than what’s on Lindsey Lohan’s coffee table.

  • http://slamonline house

Can’t express how much I think Boozer is a complete waste of space. F*cking useless. I can’t understand how someone that big needs to take fadeaways so damn much.

  • RunNGun

I have never liked Boozer. I’ll take a 35 year old KG, a soft Chris Bosh, or Andrea Bargnani any day of the week.

  • http://www.yahoo.com berkamore

@ AllenP. You have a point, we must always look at what or who makes a player look good. I guess that makes me respect Deron Williams more. (And Boozer should give Williams some of that contract money. LOL.)

  • hatersrfunny

Cosigning mubwar o and I don’t like bulls but how did korver not shoot at all he is their best shooter and boozer is big and tough but he is not a bball player jump shot weak az hawks literally

  • Corky

“He played the exact same way in Utah.”

    Exactly.

  • http://360special.blogspot.ca dev0

Everybody talks about “get rid of this player and everything will be fine,” but decent starting power forwards don’t just grow on trees. What are some viable options for the Bulls if they do intend to replace Boozer? My short list- Pau Gasol, David Lee, Luis Scola.

  • Imstupid

I think we all hate boozer. But the bottom line is that it is a team game . Asik never ever ever ever should of had the ball and shot the free throws. You can’t say they choked cuz they were with out rise and Noah (who I think is overrated but that’s a different story) at least we can thank Booz for the good laughs when he painted his hair. Now the bulls must sign someone hey it could happen let’s have some hope people and if hell does decide to freeze over maybe boozer will play good next year and actually want to win a championship and do better than 1-11 shooting when everyone is counting on you to be the player your worth

  • Imstupid

    *rose

  • bull22

The hints were there throughout the season that boozer was going to choke when a critical
game really mattered. he dominated the lesser teams throughout the regular season but
struggled badly against good teams. i tried defending boozer but he played more like a backup.

  • Pagliarini

It’s always the same. In the first quarter he’s hitting almost all his shots. Further in the game he starts missing and making stupid fouls on dunking guys. When he starts missing shots, he better pass the ball, because he also can give some good dimes!

What CJ did in the last seconds was terrible. Give the ball to the worst FT shooter on such a crucial moment. But worst of all, when Omer missed the last FT he also was completely alone in defense and made that foul.

It all went wrong wen Derrick went down. They proved they can win without Derrick in de regular season, but they always knew he would be back for the playoffs. At the time he went down in the last minutes of game 1 against the Sixers, they all knew it was over. It was the right time for Boozer and Deng to step up, especially when also Noah sprained his ankle. But we know what’s up with Deng. And we also know what happens when Boozer has the spotlights on him. He also played some very good games this year, no doubt about that. But when the pressure was high, he couldn’t perform.

  • Chitownrepa74

If the Bulls don’t get rid of this sorry ass piece of wasted talent and money, we wont be winning no ring. I put Boozer in the same category as Eddy Curry as far as wasted talent and contributes nothing but yelling to the top of his lungs when Rose does something amazing or when he tryin to get a foul call. No Defense, ZERO POST, NO HANDS, and makes way too many dumb plays.

  • PnoyVibe

Just start Gibson and bench Boozer for the first few games next season and see how that worka
