Charlotte Bobcats Selling Season Tickets for $43

The Charlotte Bobcats’ crack marketing staff is selling some season tickets for next season, for which pricing will be based on the team’s NBA Draft lottery position. If the Bobcats earn the top overall pick, it will be super-cheap to watch them in person. Per the Charlotte Observer: “The team started advertising a promotion Wednesday where the price for an upper-deck seat will equal the draft pick the team wins in the lottery later this month. Should the NBA-worst Bobcats get the top pick, the season ticket would be $1 per game, or $43 for the season. It’s meant to drum up interest in the potentially lucrative draft position and ease the traditional May ticket sales lull. The Bobcats are guaranteed one of the top four picks after their dismal season, with a 25 percent chance of winning the right to draft consensus No. 1 Anthony Davis. Even if the team falls to No. 4, the seats are $4 per game, or $172 for the season. About 500 seats are eligible for the ‘Pay the Pick’ promotion, which runs through the draft lottery on May 30. Each person can buy up to four seats, and ticketholders will not have the same benefits that regular season ticket purchasers receive. You won’t be able to trade in your tickets, and you won’t get an invite to the off-the-court events. According to the team’s website, the cheapest traditional season ticket package runs $344. The NBA’s second-worst team this season, the Washington Wizards, are advertising season ticket plans that start at $399.”

$1 per game?!?!! THAT IS WAYYYYY TOO MUCH! Who dahell do you think you are; a professional basketball team? DISGRACE!

  • Well DAMN

I legit feel bad for the organization now

That’s a hell of a deal even if you’re a casual fan. One upper deck ticket to a Celtics game is about $45. To think that same price would cover a whole season is insane. Oh, to be a Bobcats fan…

  • Treshiq

    @ Well DAMN…. my sentiments exactly… @seth..but i feel you… I would be courtside EVERY game

  • Mas

I had a hard time shelling out .99 cents on Stubhub to go see the Nets this year. I think $1 tickets are not so bad…what really is terrible is $8.00 beers.

  • Yesse

    Ohh, wow.

U can’t beat that deal with a stick! I would go to watch the other teams!

  • B.C.

They should give out the tickets for free.

They should give out the tickets for free.

Transportation to the game would cost more than the ticket. Wow.

    Someone tell Betcats

  • Rik Smits Mullet

sounds like a good deal. 41 potential blowout losses makes for a lot of potential highlight plays by the visiting team. Hope they catch a break in the draft.

I’ll trade someone 4 Bobcat’s season tickets for a pair of Jordans.

1$ per game and 43$ for the season, clever people working over there, math 101? or r they including 2 playoff games they assume they will play in before getting swept?

    ^ and $4 a game for 41 home games is $164, not $172. I am a bit confused here.

  • fruizm

I applied for a ticket marketing rep position with the Bobcats about a year ago…I would come up with a much better plan than that. You got clowns running that front office!!!

  • LA Huey

As long as you’re not obliged to root for the Bobcats, can’t beat this deal.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

I’m debating buying this just so I can say I own season tickets to something. When someone asks to what, I change the subject.

  • LA Huey

Caboose, you could say you have tickets “to the theatre”. I mean, the Bobcats are sort of a tragedy.

Next year they should be a 20ish win team. This actually will be a bargain if they draft Anthony Davis. If I lived in Charlotte I’d do it lol.

  • Jerome

I think I’ll buy about 10. Just for fun.

For a penny I become a season ticket holder

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

Caboose and huey are funny, this is a good deal tho

  • YeP

So the lower the pick the higher the price?

  • Chukaz

Michael Jordan, regaining his quarter of a billion dollar investment $43 dollars at a time… in the words of Nate Robinson “MA N199A” lol

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

    (1) They aren’t selling seats in the upper deck anyway. What the lose on tickets they make on beer, peanuts, *parking* and jerseys.
    (2) They’re getting fans emotionally invested now so they’ll keep coming to the games and/or raise TV ratings when they do better.
    (3) You get to see the Heat/Lakers/Knicks/whatever bandwagon team you guys like twice a year for $2.
This is good strategy, not bad strategy.

    Lol nice Huey.
