Frank Vogel: Miami Heat ‘Biggest Flopping Team in the NBA’

The Indiana Pacers/Miami Heat series has yet to begin, and Pacers head coach Frank Vogel is already campaigning against the Heat‘s flopping ways. Per the Indy Star: “Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel always seems to have a trick up his sleeve when it comes to getting across a message. Thursday, he sent a message to the officials who will work the Indiana-Miami playoff series about how the Heat players like to flop on defense. ‘They are the biggest flopping team in the NBA,’ Vogel said. ‘It’ll be very interesting to see how the referees officiate the series and how much flopping they reward. Every drive to the basket, they have guys not making a play on the ball,’ Vogel said, ‘but sliding in front of drivers. Oftentimes they’re falling down even before contact is even being made. It’ll be interesting to see how the series is officiated.’”

LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Shane all flop like crazy. LeBron was the King of Flop in game 1 against the Knicks. But at the same time, they get the superstar calls and non-calls. Their reputation allows them to play “defense” and not get into foul trouble and get others into it. Truth is that the Heat are gonna take the title this year. The refs are gonna make sure of it.

b!ching already Vogel and the game hasn’t even started. good luck with the big 3 against your medium 2.

Yes the title is already theirs because of the refs. Makes perfect sense.

I don’t know about flopping. Well, yeah, I do, they do flop, but does anyone noticed D-Wade almost getting his shoulder separated every game because he can’t stop reaching. Those are the fouls that are never called.

This is simply a head coach working the refs. Talk it up, draw some media attention to it, and it might buy you a few calls come game time. Phil Jackson was the ultimate master at planting seeds in the ref’s heads.

i THINK COACH VOGEL MAKES SENSE OF HOW THE HEAT PLAY. THEY DO FLOP AND TRY TO PUSH THE REFS TO THE LIMITS OF FAIR PLAY. tHE HEAT DO NOT HAVE A ROSTER THAT CAN COMPETE WITH INDY BUT THEY DON’T HAVE THE D TO STOP #3 OR #6. SEVEN GAME SERIES i HOPE.

    ^I’ll have what he’s having.

Who ever said the refs are going to make sure the Heat wins the title this year needs to shut that stuff up. And this coach really needs to be quiet because if Miami hear’s this I think they are really going to motivated and not even let your team win a game so it’s better to hush. Every body in this league do it and have been doing it for many generations so get use to it, and turth be told most of you is only agreeing to it because you know Miami is going to win and your already putting your deffense up sort of speak. We stay humble though, and hope that Miami will when the series, go to the next round and win it all. GO MIAMI!

Mas 7 games. hahahahahahaha i have seen all 4 heat-pacers match up this season my friend. they have shown me nothing more then a 1 game upset like the knicks. 5 at best

Didn’t the refs make sure that the Lakers won that series against the Kings in 2002? Come on, guy. The writing’s on the wall. Just look at the reffin’ in the series against the Knicks. It was the Knicks starting 5 against the Heat/NBA’s starting 8.

I love hearing people blame the refs. It shows so much bias against the other team.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

O, you know damn well that was Tim Donahue in 2002, and he was profiting financially, it wasn’t mandated by the league. I know you are a Knicks fan so you are salty or whatever, but the refs had nothing to do with New York not standing a chance in that series.. Stop blaming refs for teams losing, it is pathetic and just reeks of a biased homerism that is insufferable.

  • LA Huey

A Knicks fan crying cahoots about officiating must have forgot Larry Johnson’s miracle 4 point play in the ’99 ECF.

  • Neb

Sssick, Miami doesnt even flop that bad. Look at Blake and the clippers… also Miami have fantastic players who know how to take charges! just cause they take charges doesnt make them the floppiest team in the NBA…

    Co-Sign a less jack ass-ish version of nbk’s comment.
I’ll have what T-Ray is having. As long as it’s not a Sam Adams. Gross.

No sir Lakeshow Southern Comfort and Coke!

  • DreDay

Since Chicago is out it seems there’s alot of folks putting Miami in the Finals and as Champions. Or it’s just alot of d*ck riding going on. Not sure….

  • LA Huey

Also, bring up the ’02 WCF if you want but that Kings squad notoriously came up small in big moments. And that Lakers dynasty did the exact opposite.

  • http://www.slamonline.com king

lebron and blake have had the most flagrant fouls on them and get banged up the most when they drive its only fair that they use that to their advantage.

  • http://www.slamonline.com king

when the heat win it won’t be because of the of the refs it just means that they are better

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

Nbk, I ain’t even fronting over here, Knicks lost by they own merit. They wasn’t healthy enough or disciplined enough to hang with the Heat, but refs handed them game 1 plain and simple. The King of Flop was playing them like he did Cleveland. Just look at the foul shooting difference. “Good defense” on Miami’s part was a foul on the Knicks front. And Tim was pulling cards on the league when he got bagged, but the Angel of Stern denied it all (as well as he should have) and people just took his word at face value. You telling me Tim was/is the only rogue ref? It is what it is though. The Heatles win the ring this year and the NBA will continue to move forward.

  • Whit

sad that vogel even has to mention this in hopes of a legit series… the NBA should be making sure these games are called even.. but in the end they don’t care… they make more money when a team like miami or la make it. i just wonder if these refs are trained to make calls in favor of the more profitable teams or if they themselves are just bias

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

O, the refs were absolutely terrible in game 1, BUT they lost by 33! The refs are why the Knicks didn’t lose by 18. They didn’t “hand” them anything.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Yes, i’m telling you donahue was the only rogue ref. you can look back at every controversially ref’d/decided game over the last decade. He’s on the staff of each one of them.

  • ChipS

This guy has Granger, Hibbert, Dahntay Jones, and Barbosa on his team! He really has the nerve to call out another team on the matter. I have to say Danny Granger is steadily moving onto my All-Time Player Hater teams. Don’t know him off the court to judge him, but on the court I can’t stand him.

  • Whit

so why is he still allowed to ref?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    he’s not.

  • Nancye Whitney

I was a hoosier and I love Indie basketball but come on Frank, Indiana has always been a gang and Granger is no sweetheart.

  • whit

who were the refs game 1 and what was there excuse

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

excuse for what? what in the f*ck did the refs change about game 1? how much the Knicks got blown out by? The refs had no affect on the spread of game 1.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

    Wait… T-Ray ain’t you like 17?? LOL

  • http://www.soundcloud.com/tray-5 T-Ray

Lol 19 homie but everynow and then my parents let me have a glass haha
Nbk why are you responding to that turd?

  • whit

    hahahahaha

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

LOL @ nbk for getting annoyed so bad.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Red

    Pacers will lose.

  • WEH

not saying the knicks would have won even if they weren’t plagued with stupid players and injuries.. that being said even jeff vangundy expressed how poorly that game was being called and eventually after being so disgusted refused to comment more about it.. the next game the commentators actually made it a point to state they had a new group of good officials for the game.. how often does that happen.. once again not saying the knicks would have won either way.. just making a point how biased SOME officials are

  • http://Slamonline.com Gab

Vogels out of his mind. Flop City is the biggest flopping team.
