Knicks Sign Mike Woodson to 3-Year Contract

The reported “long-term deal” has been finalized. Under Mike Woodson, the Knicks went 18-6 during the regular season and beat some good teams when healthy. The Daily News reports that New York has rewarded Woodson with a three-year deal, with the third year as a team option: “The Knicks and Mike Woodson finalized a deal that will keep him as the team’s coach for at least three more years. A person close to Woodson told the News that Woodson agreed to a deal Friday. ‘Mike took over the team under challenging circumstances and made it clear, starting on day one, that he was going to hold every player on our roster accountable,’ Garden boss James Dolan said in a statement. ‘We saw a significant improvement since Mike took over and believe our team will only keep improving under Mike’s direction.’”

As a Knick fan, i think he deserves this, but shouldn’t have gotten a multi year deal. Should have gave him a 1 year deal i believe.

I know!!! I Know!!! Lets give Mike Brown a raise and let all the rest of the should be assistant coaches be head coaches on elite teams and keep destroying the integrity of the game!!! Thanks NBA!!! Look forward to next year and being able to really watch five teams a week on my overpriced NBA package because the other teams suck!!! Go Bobcats!!! SMDH…

The “elite coaches” were all assistants and/or thought of as mediocre until they weren’t any more. Let’s go get Red Holzman, I heard he’s an elite coach. Shizzle.

He’d get three allstars and JL farther than the first round.

Not with the health of that roster. Auerbach, Holzman, PJackson, Doc Rivers, Poppovich and Larry Brown could all make a coaching supermutant and that supermutant wouldn’t have coached away those injuries and beaten a healthy Heat team.

Anybody else concerned about the overall direction of the Knicks? It’s like their wallpapering over a garbage bin, specifically the fact that in 2014/15, they’ll be paying $23.5 mil to a 31 year old Melo, $23.4 mil to a 33 year old Stoudemire, and $14.6 mil to a 32 year old Tyson Chandler. Throw in the fact that Lin and Smith will demand substantial pay raises, Shumpert will be targeted in free agency, and that they’ll likely be without lottery picks; this team could be heading for a black hole like the mid 2000′s.
